Yep, I suspected there might be some issues like that with the stats post-release. If you could email support AT choiceofgames DOT com rather than noting them in this thread, that would be a huge help!
Oh, lovely! I’ve been eyeing this release for a long time, and I’m very curious to finally get the chance to dig in!
Also, 750,000 words! That’s huge!
Congratulations on the release. I’ve already completed a playthrough.
I’m so sorry I wish I could’ve added so many animals, I didn’t even think of a lot of them at the time! I think I was also just trying to keep my workload a bit lower, because when I was first starting out it took me longer to fill in all the different options and I was a bit wary of giving myself too much to do
Your comment made me want to draw this guy though, hopefully he helps make up for it
(he’s not sad, he’s showing his disapproval at my bad toad anatomy)
That’s actually the cutest thing I’ve seen since the New Witch box art. (Not counting my actual real-life puppy, because he’s always my cutest thing.) I want to pick him up and hug him, which is a reaction I have very seldom had to anatomically accurate toads.
O.K., I’m extremely glad that I saw this article – and especially the line…
…Because the title – “New Witch In Town” – and especially an older title picture previously shown on the web…
Former “New Witch In Town” Promo Pic.
…a picture which, as you can see, featured a young woman – very strongly suggested to me that the game was female genderlocked, which was a really serious turn-off for me, indeed!
I’m extremely relieved to learn that the game is NOT genderlocked, after all, and I’ve already purchased it & will start playing it in the near future!
“…HC and HG allow (and the former actively welcomes) genderlocked games…”
I know what “CoG” and “HG” are, but what is “HC”?
HC is Heart’s Choice.
“HC is Heart’s Choice.”
Oh. Ah. Yes, of course. Duh.
I have no interest in Heart’s Choice. None whatsoever.
There’s a reason I always choise the “asexual, aromantic” option in these games – and that reason, is simply that that’s the way I am!
no toad?
Seriously, a toad would be useful in the underwater sections of the forest (like the lake or something). Assuming the witch is not good at swimming.
Stats seem to just go up and down at random
I never know what decision is just some flavor or when its gonna advance a random stat for no reason, leaving my stats piecemeal and underdeveloped.
Or even how high any given stat needs to be to pass a check.
So eh, is it just me or did I miss all the plot points? I pretty much just hang out with everyone and saved our magic, but I have literally no idea what’s going on
like what’s up with our dreams or why the company is there in the first place or the random vandalism or the identity of our witch friend, it’s pretty frustrating until some guide comes out I guess
The art is still the art… there’s just different cuts of the same image. They’re used in various places for various platform size requirements.
I couldn’t finish this one. For a game called “New Witch in Town” we spend a startling amount of time doing non-witchy things. The game seems to be more about enviromental conservation than anything else, which whilst important isn’t exactly an interesting topic for an IF game.
Yeah, well, the art makes it look like the game is genderlocked when it isn’t.
Most games have box art depicting human figures, who may or may not be intended to represent the protagonist. In a society with a binary conception of gender, a figure can be masculine, feminine, or androgynous in some way. Some people balk when the box art depicts a masculine figure. Some men and women will have trouble projecting themselves into an androgynous figure. There’s no way they can make the box art representative of every possible player.
What I don’t understand is … you’re here on the forum, you know that this company makes games that allow you to customize your character. Even if you missed the fact that the Choice of Games line does not publish genderlocked games ever, why would you assume the box art represented the only way the character could be?
Just finished my first playthrough! The epilogue is LONG! Wondering will there be any guide?
Can I ask: when you see a male figure on the cover of one of our games, do you think it’s genderlocked? What if the player is not the New Witch in Town? Do you think we should not feature women on the cover? What else made you think it was genderlocked, considering that no Choice of Games title is? Like, was it possible the “new witch” was an NPC? Would love to hear more feedback if you have the time or bandwidth!!
What about Belle de Nuit and Jazz Age? Are those not Choice of Games titles?
Eh, they’re from Heart’s Choice. Another label
