Oh, that doesn’t sound as interesting as I expected. Thanks for the info.
Now that I think about it, if the author would have explored most of the results that would come with such “little” change as Elizabeth choosing a different guy to marry to then overall word count-wise this game could be one of the longest CoG/HGs.
I’ve finished my first playthrough and got Colonel Fitzwilliam as the RO. I’m supposed to be after Darcy but throwing insults every time I met him didn’t help, it seems. welp… I thought he would enjoy binkering with me!
Same! Plus I never actually tried to actually go for the Colonel…
By the way: I just finished my first run.
Not bad. It was agood read, very in “canon” with the original story.
And here is both the strenght and the weakness of the game.
Because if the fidelity make the reader really immersed into the original opera spirit, it result weak from a game point of view.
There is little to no player characterization we can give to our Miss Bennet. Even the name/nikname choice is sometime changed to the default, I’ve noticed.
Is not rare for the choices to be fake, and actual choices are few.
Frankly, I was hoping for a deeper characterization of the RO’s, since it was where the writing could have gone with experimenting and becaming its own work, taking its distance from the original opera.
Same with the MC personality and interests (I would have preferred my MC having more in common with Mary, reading books and liking music, than being forced into being dumb and not even understanding her philosophical speech) that have no player imput whatsoever.
I may change my mind when I’ve tried more options, but is the feeling I have at the moment.
I still had fun with it, and I’m now going to play to get Darcy.
Has anyone actually been able to get Darcy yet? I’ve only played through once so far and didn’t really show any interest in the Colonel and still somehow ended up married to him.
It’s based on the scene where you get the news about Lydia, while the colonel is with you. If you’re honest about what the news is, that puts you on his romance track.
Edit: or maybe it’s when he tells you about Darcy being the one who broke up Charles and Jane. It’s one of those. Basically don’t tell Col. Fitzwilliam about any of your business.
I just finished playing this, and I can say it’s 11/10, though I thought there would be some achievements unlocked throughout the game. But nevertheless, it’s really good!
Finally got Darcy’s route after replaying four times. How would I know my character will cry and try to gain sympathy from Colonal by telling the truth?! Finally using mommy’s tactics, I see… Bad, bad Lizzy!
I got Darcy when I did my first playthrough. I didn’t find it too hard I just stayed away from the other guys whenever the choices offered me that.
Anyway I’ve still read the hint thing at the end of the game and it said that if you don’t cry infront of the Colonel and don’t elope with Wickham then you should get the Darcy romance.
No one’s “forcing” you to play as a female—and the summary should make it obvious that this story is about romance and love. If you would prefer not to play as a female character, then don’t buy the game.
I can understand this turning you off from purchasing the story, but you sound almost offended that it even exists. I don’t think I understand why. You aren’t forced to read it, after all.
I love Pride and Prejudice. But going into this game I found it difficult to want to stray from the original novel based on already pre-established thoughts about the characters.
I can’t see Elizabeth getting together with anyone other than Darcy and Jane being with Charles.
Instead of putting the audience into the perspective of Elizabeth, maybe it would have been more worthwhile to be placed in one of the minor sister’s role(Kitty or Mary) with a story of their own while the original novel plot is moving alongside it. Different suitors but the peeps from the original novel can make cameos.
I liked being able to explore other possibilities. Though I think Charles is the only bachelor I didn’t pair with Lizzy (yet ). I feel awful doing that to Jane.
My favorite honestly was making Lizzy elope with George Wickham in order to gather evidence against him for Scotland Yard. I had such a good laugh at that one.
I just have a question tho. Will the game come out on steam? Cuz that’s the only place i could buy the full game in. Since i deactivated my credit card, i can’t buy it in the app store and My country has a very limited amount of itunes gift card, which unfortunately, had run out of stock right now. And i don’t have a single Android device. So it would be awesome to have it on steam
Unfortunately, the author has no control where this will be release if I recall correctly. It seems CoG/HG and Steam will be the one handling the this but I think it will more on the Steam side.
Hey I wanted to say to the author that I enjoyed the game quite a bit. I dare say at the end I would have eloped with Colonel Fitzwilliam if I had had the opportunity.
I personally think that an Elizabeth/Charlotte romance would not be entirely out-of-character for Pride and Prejudice (a Darcy-Bingley romance is almost canon; Elizabeth notices the subtext even in the original book), but this doesn’t look badly-written.
Charlotte seems like the type of person who would fulfill her duty than follow her heart. Maybe closet romance would work… but I’ve a feeling she would marry a guy regardless of my relationship with her…
