I am just not a fan of being the only guy with no power but if i could at least have high-Tec weapons and armour then that would balance it plus the other reason a stated i just never felt any kind of connection to the MC.
The story is that you literally are the weakest hero in the weakest school where everyone has weird powers. Having power armor wouldn’t balance anything, it would just break the story (how do you work that in?)
And I’d like to point out that not being the chosen one and having reality catch up to you is the main point of the game.
Well it could at least let you buy upgrades and weapons cause come on why would you go to a super hero school with no weapons or armour and or at least some form of training and no having power armour would at least give some form of a fighting chance or at least give me a gun but really i don’t mind at having no super powers i don’t mind not even being the chosen one but at least give me something.
The game does give you something:
your wit.
Sure, you can’t lift a truck but you know where one who can should best throw it.
I will be honest i would rather have a gun sure wit can save your ass countless times but i would still take a gun any day.
Oh look. Someone who hasn’t played the games.
IT DOES. Twice in the first game and thrice in the second. Have you ever thought of working for IGN? You’d be great there.
…because you don’t have the money or the skills? Because lethal weapons are forbidden? Because heavy armor is more inconvenient than it is helpful?
Really you have the main skill they demand: not playing a game but criticizing it like you did!
Then why join this school in the first place you are useless compared to everybody else you have no powers crap weapons and armour what possible help could you provide go on tell me if you wear fighting against somebody with super strength what could you do against them smart ass go on tell me.
its also only the first game
The last couple of posts have been drifting into personal attack territory. I’d suggest dialling it back.
@Arcane_warrior, you played the demo, you didn’t like it, and that’s fine. Sounds like the concept just doesn’t appeal to you. As @Harroc pointed out, if you’d stuck with it, you’d have found that you become somewhat less powerless throughout the games…but probably not enough to satisfy you.
If the concept of being part of a team of third-tier supers in Speck, NE, doing a bunch of community college stuff doesn’t immediately tickle your funny bone, then CCH probably isn’t the game for you. The plot does grow from there and send the characters into a wider, higher-stakes world…but if you don’t enjoy the initial foundation, then you’ll probably mainly feel frustrated by how long it takes to get to the more traditionally superheroic stuff.
Personally, it’s my favorite of the superhero CoG/HGs (noting that I haven’t read them all, and that Superlatives is a close contender), but I’m sure it’s not to every taste.
Because it forms low-level heroes that will probably be nothing more than glorified cops?
Ah yes, that girl who can make noises is really useful compared to me. That’s probably why you can beat her in one punch.
It’s in the second game: tactics. Help others by using your brain.
It’s in the first game, once more. You face someone that is highly resilient and can knock you out in one blow. What do you do? You bide your time, lure them into a trap or somewhere that puts them at a disadvantage, attack at range… There’s many solution especially if you fight someone that relies solely on their power.
Then it would be better to be a cop then cause at least you get a gun and good equipment plus making noises that can be a very powerful ability if used right she could be crowd control and super strength attacking at range would be pointless you have a sling shot what the hell would that do against a guy with super strength he could easily be wearing armour since he has super strength and so range attack pointless close combat pointless luring him into a trap what trap would work against a walking tank just face it the MC is damn worthless you only strength is if there was a fight you would die first so at least your death will be quick.
Just play heroes rise. sigh
Cch is apparently not for you.
Not bad that game i only liked the first one.
I mean, we get it. You prefer not to be an underdog type when playing IF. That’s understandable, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But there’s not much point in just reiterating it over and over. It’s not going to be a popularly accepted concept, because a lot of readers prefer a more nuanced story like this. At some point you’re not so much critiquing as you are just taking potshots because it didn’t fit your view of an ideal hero fantasy.
That said, I’d also advise everyone else to keep from getting personal with Andrew. Difference of opinion over a story is no reason for an actual conflict to get ignited.
All i was doing was stating my opinion i don’t hate the game that much i just don’t really like the story i like the idea of the story but that’s it.
But you want the story to be something it is not. The basic idea included.
if I understand you correctly, you want a game where you stand out as the top notch thing amongst others. That’s not even what the idea is about.
/shrug
I don’t mind that i am not a hero i can live with that just don’t make me worthless.
As people have asked before: how do you define ‘worthless’. Because the CCH mc is anything but.
there are games in the library where the player is reduced down to a mere spectator, but CCH is not one of them
I would recommend you Paradigm City. Mayby that is more to your liking.
I would rather be a bad ass or just average cause when you are average nobody cares about you and nobody expects much from not a bad place to be you stay in everybody’s line of sight but remember you are just another face in the mass of people and you will be forgotten basically my life anyway i shared my opinion so i am done sorry for going overboard.
