NaNoWriMo 2021!

Good for you for deciding what your priority is! I popped into your thread for a bit and saw how much feedback you already received!

Up to 5,317 words. Still about 1,300 words behind pace, but I should get another small window to write after dinner.

i haven’t started yet, lol!

Jeez, I’m already five days in. I’ve been writing a lot, but not for my WIP on this forum. Should have time this weekend to pound some stuff out.

Today’s battle ended up with an overall 1,200 more words. A difficult day but not a bad one.

This is the best I’ve felt in months and now that I’m motivated to actually write I feel like participating again.

I’m not setting a word count for myself (I’ll forget to log it anyway) but I’ll be setting a goal of writing at least a little bit for a story each day. Doesn’t matter if it’s actual content, character notes or research as long as I write something for it.

I hope everyone is doing well and that we all take good care of ourselves during this month (and other months too of course!)

Already way behind pace, but I did cross the 9,000-word mark this morning. I’m telling myself, keep shooting for 50k, and if you end up with 35k, that’s still a heck of a month.

I’m doing NaNo for the first time. I don’t write interactive fiction, but I love the work all you people do and I love playing/reading your stuff.
I’ve always loved writing, but when it comes to actually finishing a story… lets just say its never happened lol
I decided to do it this time as a way to push myself to actually plan and write a story. Even if I don’t like what I’ve written at the end of it at least I’m improving my writing skill by actually writing. The goal is 50k, but if I fall short then that’s ok coz I gave it a go.
I’m currently at 9121 words

I just crossed past 14,000 words. Still a staggering 7,000 words behind the pace. I’ll try to catch up a bit more tonight and tomorrow.

You are still outpacing me for the month, for whatever it is worth.

I just crossed the 8,000 word mark for my upcoming update, and I see the improvement, so I am going to have to be content with whatever happens word-wise.

So we’re about halfway through; how’s everyone doing?

I just crossed the 33k mark—I’ve intentionally frontloaded my words per day. They aren’t good words, mind you, but they are now editable words, which is half the fight, I think.

Hear you on bad words. Think I’m going to have to spend the last ten days on edit and rewrite alone. :face_vomiting:

I’ve completely lost track of where I am word wise :grimacing: but I’ve been writing almost every day which I’m pleased with!

I am just liking comments all willy nilly! You get a like! You get a like! Everyone gets a like!

Because we are all trying even if we’re a bit lost.

I just passed 16.5k words. But they are solid words that will need few, if any edits.

Second productive day in a row! After a sluggish start, the month is finally picking up some speed. Granted, I do the task I set in my calendar (finishing a certain scene I was working on yesterday), but I did something more important. For the longest time, there was a tangle of outdated code, text snippets, and old comments clogging up the end of my final chapter. I’ve made the move and deleted the lot of it. Then I sat down and made an orderly list of all the scenes that I have left to write.

Just pushed past 21k words this afternoon, all devoted to Talon City. Although its decent progress by my standards, I would be languishing further behind had I not removed my socials from my phone and avoided watching sports. Looks like I’ll have to settle for somewhere in the 30k-word range for the month, which again is a good month for me, but hardly Nano-worthy. And today is too pretty here to stay inside. Shortly, I’ll go out and supervise my youngest shooting arrows (and spend much of the time hunting down the strays).

How’s everyone else doing? Does anyone else have some writing time blocked off for this weekend?

All my time, this weekend, so far is devoted to bug squashing and editing >< … I really want to write, but these ugly critters keep popping up and the editing has a deadline of the end-of-the-month as well, so they take precedence.

I seriously will be lucky to reach 20,000 words for the month.

Weekend is over for me in 20 minutes. Was meant to go salsa dancing but my partner’s sudden onset migraine threw a wrench in that. We watched game shows and had soup. No dancing nor writing got done.

I’m sadly only at the 16k mark… :frowning:

That is not so bad. The important thing is you are writing and challenging yourself to do more. That’s a lot of merits.

Remember, 50k is a number. Don’t get obsessed with it.
