Honest question to all you guys: do the comprehension/terror bars make sense? If they don’t/if multiple people think they’re silly, I’ll make them into invisible variables, because they still do need to affect the plot, but that’s up to you guys.
Depends. I think it cranked up rather quickly, but given the goings on I don’t think I’d be far from freaking out either. That said I think the other stats should have an effect on it, so the colder you are the slower it should increase, the more empathetic you are the faster you would freak out.
I would then expect brashness/shyness to have an impact on how you respond to how you feel and then impulsiveness/strategist would impact what those reactions are.
I think they’re OK, and they do make sense, especially “terror”, I mean, and adult would get scared/paranoid in a situation like this, let alone a kid that has just gone to the outside world.
But I agree with @LordOfLA that the other stats should impact certain reactions or dialogues.
So I don’t think you should make them “invisible” just make it so they can alter certain scenes depending on your stats.
Stats do affect the availability of certain dialogue choices and how MC reacts to things, but my values may be a bit borked so I will have to check that over once the whole thing is coded properly.
That said, I’ve put up a new update which a) makes terror and comprehension invisible for a while and b) makes stats and especially comprehension a lot more relevant, because MC has some detectiving to do! And depending on player choices, the solution to the plot may be in sight! The whole thing does take place in a matter of days, after all.
Hows the MC supposed to get his/her game on with no chicks or vice versa.
Welllll there’s always the slumber party experimental games…
They’re always just having a pillow fight and then one thing leads another…
Hey guys, thanks so much for your help! And also thanks for being nice to me while I muddled through learning to code things, I’m sure I was a bit of an idiot about variables. You rock! The game’s all finished (with achievements and everything!) and sent in, so it’s out of my hands now, I guess
, but I definitely would not have gotten it done and done properly without you all.
Cheers!
… In the mean time, I’ve published a book-book (rather than a game book) that has absolutely nothing to do with this one, so if anyone has free time, $3 and a way to read ebooks, it’s on Amazon/iBooks/Google Books/Kobo under the name In the Snows of Haz.
Wow, that was quick to submit for publishing!
Will definitely grab it when it shows up on the hosted games page
Holy shit, it’s finished already!?
Damn… Anyway… I loved the demo, so I’m definitely buying it the day it comes out
Still not released? Plus 20.

Hey, @Talkingtaco, @LordOfLA, @Nathan_Faxon, @Interestedparty, @Xenodochy, @Bob_Rijke,@ BabbleYaggle, @attolia, @Sneaks, and @Umbralamia, sorry to randomly tag you all like this, but Academy of Disaster is FINALLY in the last stages of publishing. I think I’m better at coding than publication-y stuff, and that’s really saying something because my code is all sorts of ridiculously messy. However, the point of the matter is: since you guys were so nice and tested the game, I want to have you down as beta testers officially. I can do that with your forum names, but COG prefers real names/fairly human-sounding psudonyms so that the games look more respectable and stuff. So um… PM me or reply to this with what you’d like to be listed as, and thanks again for all your help! <3
Okay, the game is officially live! If you guys want to play, please check it out here: Academy of Disaster
There’s also a discussion thread over here: Academy of Disaster is out! (29/7/16)
Hopefully I’m doing this right!
Since this is not a WiP anymore, please take the discussion to the discussion thread mentioned above.
