2nd edition Hunter: The Reckoning. There are only two editions of Hunter (discounting Hunters Hunted, the Vampire supplement which first introduced monster hunter characters to the WoD, and Hunter: The Vigil, which was for Chronicles of Darkness). This is as opposed to Vampire: The Masquerade, which has 5.
I made a few references to Beckett in Parliament of Knives, including his crossing paths with House Carna. Iâm a big fan of the book: âBeckettâs Jyhad Diary.â so I had to add mention of him in somewhere.
YOU DID! AND IâM STILL SO GRATEFUL YOU DID! THANK YOU FOR THAT!
Every time I see something that could possibly be interpreted as a hint towards Beckett, I end up going absolutely bananas over it.
Also, if you HAPPEN to be working on one of the future WoD games but you canât tell us yet, please blink twice
The safest and most accurate way to answer that is ânot yet.â
So curious, are any of these new titles going to have beta testing periods?
Totally not asking just to sign up for that hunter and werewolf one >_>
Of course theyâre going to have beta testing periods. I donât know when, because the games arenât finished yet, but you can sign up to receive notifications when new betas are posted if you want to be sure to get in at the beginning.
Awesome, thank ya! But where do I sign up for that kind of thing, the only place I saw to get beta news was on here when the topic is made
If you go to the topics tagged âBeta Testing,â you can click on that bell on the right and select âWatching First Postâ from the menu that pops up. If you do that, youâll receive notifications whenever a new beta test is posted.
Itâs probably too much to hope that the other 8 games will give some love to the less appreciated splats of the World of Darkness like Wraith or Demon, right?
Iâm guessing itâll be âonlyâ those splats which have been given 5th editions. Vampire, Werewolf and Hunter.
I think Mage is probably the most likely of the so far unused properties, but I think Wraith and maybe even Changeling have potential. It may depend a bit on WoD and which direction(s) theyâd like to go in, because their buy-in is essential and their marketing is a great boost. With Bloodlines 2 set to finally come out in 2024, they may want to feature more Vampire games, or they may want to promote W5 with more Werewolf games.
Itâll be interesting to see how Hungry Names and Glenkildove do outside of the previous Bloodlines 2 struggles which may have encouraged WoD to talk up the CoG games in order to talk about anything else. I hope theyâre huge hits and authors feel encouraged to continue putting out new WoD games, as thereâs a lot of good material to work with here.
So, no ETA on Book of Hungry Names yet?
Nope. Itâs not even finished being written yet.
If youâre interested, Kyle Marquis will be giving a live-streamed interview with WoD at 11 am EST today: https://www.youtube.com/@worldofdarkness/videos
ETA: the recorded interview is now up at the link above!
Hooo, boy, I just found out about this. TEN more games set in the World of Darkness? Thatâs excellent news! I especially canât wait to see what Kyle Marquis is cooking next.
Just as they did around this time last year, Humble Bundle has a bundle of World of Darkness materials, over $400 value, available for an $18 donation to the charity Direct Relief. Unlike last year, it doesnât include any CoG games or other Steam downloads, but it does include the core rulebooks for Vampire: The Masquerade and Hunter: The Reckoning, plus a whole bunch of sourcebooks for VtM. If youâve enjoyed the CoG VtM games and youâd like to try the original RPG - or you just want to learn more about the world - itâs definitely worth it. Personally, Iâm excited to learn a little about Hunter: The Reckoning before Beast of Glenkildove comes out.
Thank you for linking that! I will definitely be checking it out.
Thatâs awesome only 18$!?
Man thatâs almost (or is?) the entire vampire lineup. Good stuff, thanks for link!
Ugh, apparently you canât buy the lower tier then upgrade later. I was going to get the lowest tier to check out the extra stories and things just to see what theyâre like and decide from there about the other tiers. I have played the computer game versions but not the offline game versions as I donât have anyone local who plays. Are they worth it for general reading? Or only if youâre going to use them to set up games.
I got the VtM core rulebooks as part of last yearâs bundle, and itâs a lot of fun just to read the detailed worldbuilding.
