“There was one instance at my Aunt Primrose’s involving a peridot hairstick—but ${th_name} is not here just at the moment to aid me.”
I’m ok with that even if the Tally Ho MC is in the USA, because Rory’s sense of it is that the Tally Ho MC is only gone for the moment, no doubt to return at some later point when they have tired of the USA.
As for how to get the money, that section of the code and chapter is heinously complicated and I will defer to others on that one because I am currently working on an equally heinously complicated bit of Tea and Scones at the moment. But it is definitely possible to get that money!
Ah, this scandal! In short, it’ll be most helpful for MC to have high-ish Intellect, Observe and Skullduggery for this part of the chapter.
You can rig Sharpe’s game by creasing the card before talking to Peri (you’ll need at least 35 Skullduggery to pick that option). Take note that it’s gets less effective every time you select this choice in the game, so I would save it for the final round.
You can mingle with the crowd to put them in a festive mood, so they can be relied upon with choosing the right card each match.
You can eat all six of the garlic cloves when offered, then stand super close to him to put him off his shtick. The scent of garlic will affect you for the next chapter too, unfortunately.
You can simply rely on your own skill at Skullduggery and pick the right card every time.
Or, finally, go for the last resort and choose the card at random every match. It is doable, and you’ll be so so grateful for Jolly Good’s chapter-by-chapter checkpoint by the end of it all!
You’ll get there. Not that how close you are has anything to do with it, apparently, seeing as Relics 2 is complete, Relics 3 is already being worked on, and Relics 1 STILL doesn’t have a save system.
Thanks, I needed to hear that right then. I’m here in my office trying to squeeze in forty minutes of writing before class, and your vote of confidence is really welcome. Writing in the little corners and nooks of the day is not my ideal writing method, but if I see one of those moments, I try to grab it. Little by little!
A save system for this game would have been a nice Christmas gift. Would have loved to have been able to save my playthroughs over these Holidays…well maybe next year, eh?
Hi, I can no longer play this game on Steam on Mac. It worked fine before the update but now it’s giving a ‘missing executable’ error. I have tried troubleshooting it by reinstalling the game and verifying the game files in Steam. All my other games work fine, including other Choice of Games.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I have a small question regarding the quiz about Tally Ho at the beginning of Cakes and Ale: do my answers have to be honest? I played Tally Ho but it was quite a while ago and I don’t remember the details of my play through. I realize I could simply have Cakes and Ale randomize the details of Tally Ho, but I enjoy the customization that the quiz offers.
If you’re not honest, Gower will personally break into your home and leave a dead seahorse head on your pillow, mermaid Mafia style.
More seriously (but not by much), the questions just set the conditions of some NPCs; the consequences of you not “being honest” are that the conditions are different? Like, exactly what do you think the consequences would be of you not giving honest answers? And what would even count as an honest answer, seeing as you can replay Tally Ho indefinitely and get different conditions?
I guess you’re right. Before I started a new game of Tally Ho, I was going to start Cakes and Ale and just make up answers. But then I decided to play Tally Ho again and give answers based on that play through. The only thing I couldn’t remember was Valentine’s gender. Tough I guess it would be dishonest to say that Valentine is a 10-foot tall sentient pair of bowling shoes.
How…how does one get the “The Bird Chooses You” achievement?! It’s the only one I haven’t gotten yet and it sounds so difficult! I’ve checked the achievement guide but I think I need a more detailed explanation I always get the Landslide achievement, lol. Do I need to make sure my MC fails at a certain number of tasks? Maybe the interview with Jill affects it too?
Yeah, neither did I. The issue isn’t getting the bird’s affection, it’s the fact that the vote between Ernie and you has to come to 50/50. Which is incredibly tough.
