I added the wiki to the top post, because it’s been growing, and I think it has the potential to be really useful.
That’s a cool wiki! I’ll consider editing it later when I have more time.
I have a suggestion for it, and I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion on it: how about outlining each character’s role in the story based on the chapters? The story of Cakes and Ale seems to lean storngly on these small sub-plots with the MC in the lead and a supporting character in the spotlight. I think doing it this way will make the wiki less convoluted, especially considering that it is an interactive ficiton novel, where a canon route doesn’t really exist.
So, for example, on Vyv’s page, there could a paragraph outlining Vyv’s role in Chapter 1 (their appearance in the law lecture), with something similar for Chapter 2 (the allowance phone call) and 3 (the visit to the Rowdies) and 6 (the art gallery adventure). That could cover pretty much all of their major appearances, their quests, and could also hint readers and newcomers into new directions.
Perhaps how interaction with character determine their roles… since depend on our interaction with them , whether they like or dislike us, their roles will be different , especially their potential relationship with us…
Ooh… Regarding the roles why don’t you make a separate page like the story page in the wiki. This would prevent new players from getting spoiled from what branches they can appear on when they look into their character page while keeping the character page from being cluttered up. Plus, a page where people can see how the game can branch and be very interesting for the players and might even encourage the players to do a few more playthroughs!
But, it’s totally understandable if you don’t want to do it at all
Reading this while sipping my tea is a mistake. I was laughing too hard for a moment there!
As for stats, I usually focus on picking two stats to ignore/decrease and raise the other four. By chapter six those four will be the 40s to 50s range, which helps with the rest of the game.
I found that Skullduggery is one of the most useful stats to raise though, especially if you choose the Money scandal. Jack Sharpe’s card game can still be feasibly won with low Skullduggery, but BOY was it a lot more nerve-wracking.
I do this but for ROs, because I still find the ‘opposite attracts’ cliche fun. My MC who likes Tabby has low Skullduggery and Intellect, for example. They are also the one I decided to have the Money scandal, which I learn the hard way that it’s not a good idea. RIP to the Peris who lost all their savings in the previous timelines before RNG decide to have mercy on me.
THAT’S interesting. Personally, the most useful skill is persuasive + culture. The number of times my Male MC skirted around problems with his words and grace has never failed to surprise me
Heck, being a cultured pretty boi that he is made some of the scenes WAAAY funnier as those moments of flair can lead to ridiculous antics.
But, I wonder what’s the worst stat in this game is and I wonder what everyone’s answers regarding them are
I don’t think there’s worst stat but I tend to ignore observe and enjoy seeing my oblivious MC has her head up in the cloud most of the time.
Is anyone else having issues with Starling’s gender? I selected female Starling and male Fitzie but the book often uses male pronouns when referring to Starling.
Also @Greyscales the parasocial relationship rings very true to me, but at least they’ll only make you the offer if you’ve got a high scandal score so it does somewhat resonate with our character. Having said that, I adore Haze and all, but they’re the benefactor I’m looking forward to the most in the sequel.
Yeah, I tend to disregard observe (but, if I could I really want to make an observant PC but I rarely know how to build one) and that does sound like a very fun MC you’re playing. She sounds like she has quite the imagination
If you can point me to those moments, I can fix them. Thanks!
You mean Haze? Because I got them as a benefactor with Scandal suuuuuper low in different playthroughs. As far as I know, what matters is if you’re willing to go on certain… adventures. Like stealing Fitzie’s pearl, etc.
As far as i know, there aren’t any " worst " stat to play, because each stat will be crucial on certain outcome and scenario , where we can get a different discovery of an event
Unless, of course if we are bend on achieving a certain favourable events then we have to ensure we achieve high enough stats for those events.
Either way, there are sacrifice to be made … to get the highest possible “romance” scene with Juniper, a high culture, intellect and persuade is a must, lacking one may not lead to the desired romancing effect
Oh man, I’m almost embarrassed to expose myself for the desperate fan that I am, but I’m the one who made the Jolly Good wiki. I began working on it right before I had to retake a couple of exams, and after those exams my university work piled up again and I left it in a completely unfinished state. I was planning to work on it much more and (because of how unfinished it was/is) I didn’t really expect anyone to stumble upon it, so I’m so sorry for the state of it!
Now my plan was originally to add achievement and romance guides (since I’ve already made those for myself, thought I might just share them on the wiki) but considering the DLC with achievement guides I’m assuming you’d rather have me scrap that idea? Also, if anyone’s got a suggestion for the MC’s names, feel free to change them. Those were only placeholders because I didn’t know what to use to refer to both MC’s without it being confusing (but maybe it is confusing to me only), and I wanted to use something other than Tally Ho MC and Cakes and Ale MC, although that might have just been the more obvious (and better?) choice.
I was also planning to do something like this (although I imagined it more in the chapter summaries, not on the characters’ pages, but I think both options sound good), so I support this!
The pages with the guides for Tally Ho are incredibly unorganized because I still have to figure out how to format everything properly on fandom, so please just pretend those do not exist right now. If you’d rather I don’t add any guides at all, please do tell me. I’m just too fond of gameplay guides.
Go nuts! You’ve already helped me several times, so you are actually speeding up Tea and Scones’ production. Add absolutely anything you like!
That’s great! I’m so glad it helps!
Will do! Thank you!
No, Spectacles coffee
Will do on my next playthrough.
oh… so you’re the one who made the wiki …
Well, I hope you don’t mind with some suggestions since I have a few but since I’ve already written some of it above I’ll just paste those suggestions in this comment instead :
I’ve really enjoyed the game so far! I’m looking forward to the next installment- as the characters said, there’s so many subplots left to develop
That being said, anyone have any stat combination recommendations, especially with certain paths (like scandals and ROs)? I don’t wanna miss anything.
Also, has anyone had any luck with
helping Gilberto with the letter? I got the DLC for achievement help, but the description of that one is a little vague and I can’t manage to get it
@Gower, so sorry I didn’t catch this during beta testing (I was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of text xD), but it’s occurred to me now to nickname my chimney-phobic MC ‘Chimney’ — and the game let me, with no unfortunate side-effects, such as panic attacks. It’s a trifle, really, but you seem to be fond of playing with things like these (the alias achievements in your previous games, or the flavour text with Pamplemousse /I probably misspelled it/ in Cakes and Ale), so I thought I’d mention it.^^
