Harlow and co do seem to have cultivated an image of MC (and Tabby does this too, to a lesser extent) just from limited interactions and hearsay. I would say it’s kinda like a parasocial relationship but that term does not exist in the 1930s.
I was about to make a joke about how reading through that chapter is like diving through syrup before doing a double-take on “morass”. Makes more sense though.
Fitzie will mention that it’s forbidden if you choose to romance them; It’s no thanks to Rory and TallyHo!MC too if it’s applicable.
Starling is 95% confirmed at this point since their gender is selectable and there’s a relationship stat for them. I have a theory that they are the new servant Merryweather Manor hires and that’s how we’ll meet them in Tea and Scones.
I do think the four ROs we already have are perfectly serviceable and complex enough for the entire series, but I am keeping a savefile with a single MC in the unlikely case that Paige becomes available. I really came to like Paige when we interact with her in Chapter 5 (still laughing over how she said my low Intellect/Persuade MC is the second smartest of the all the Noble Gases) and I like to see her become less stoic towards us at least.
There’s also Haze, of course, but I mentioned enough about them here already.
Edit: I want to clarify that I am fully aware that my hope for potential ROs is just wishful thinking. Paige is a memorable minor character who had a chance under the spotlight, and if I wanna romance Haze again, I can just replay Tally Ho once more
So the ROs in the series is growing more in size !
Not just Rory and Tally Ho! MC, we should remember about Frankincense too. I mean falling in love with your former employee who came back into your life after the passionate affair was discovered. That can be a reason why Cadbury starts to ban their servants from falling in love with their employes.
I kinda found it ironic that we were promised only 4 ROs in the beginning but as soon as we delve in the game we discovered that there’s more ROs than just those 4. I don’t know if this was plan, convinced by beta readers or just grew in numbers as the author was writing them. At this point I don’t know if I want to curse the author for making so many options (ESPECIALLY STARLING) or bless his good soul for giving us a buffet to choose from (also bringing starling into existence)
Also,
Is it bad that I laughed too ? Man, either your MC has luck or your lower stats are PHENOMENAL
Ahhh… the edit post was meant to save space so that the total amount of post won’t reach maximum for a title, i think it is 2000 post per title … hence it was once advice to us to merge our recent post and quote into one
Well, i personally don’t think juniper would be an RO in future, but interaction with Juniper had made me feel that she is sort of a soul mate , so to speak, well if i am not mistaken soul mate is just a step lower than love one / partner … it is an intriguing relationahip, nontheless…
Speaking of cadbury.club and the inner circle, i won’t be surprise if they try to break up MC and Tabby to avoid a scandal, now the interesting part is will Fitzie beyray MC?
Nah, that check needs either high Intellect or high Culture, and this particular MC has pretty decent Culture. Still find it funny that she has convinced Paige, who all but declared herself as smartest of the Noble Gases, that she’s clever.
Ooooh drama … who will Fitzie choose a society who has put them in thin ice or the people that chose to put them under their wings…
That is possible IF Fitzie even joins The inner circle … also, is it possible for the MC to know that there IS a secret club inside an elite club to protect people from scandal ?
Also,
I think it’s not pretty decent if the MC can pass the skill check . Also, I think your MC skills may be a biiit too high so that what can be considered a high culture for you is average. Phenomenal stats in the game is around 50 up ya know.
Assuming I didn’t miss a major scene elsewhere, Fitzie only tells the MC about the Roses and Thorns Committee, which is a different secret society within the Cadbury Club separate from the elite Inner Circle. In fact, if we assume they’re being entirely honest with us, Fitzie doesn’t even believe the Inner Circle exists. That’s how I understood it, at least.
Oh god, but I love the idea of a high Culture, low Intellect/Persuade MC The picture of poise, elegance, and dignity… until they open their mouth to explain how soup is eaten with soup spoons and dessert with dessert spoons, but you must not allow this to trick you when it comes to table spoons.
Although, now I want to know: what are everyone’s favourite stat combos? Do you normally differ per individual MC and/or playthrough? Do you try to keep them all somewhat level, or focus strongly on a few while dumping the others? Posing these as open questions to anyone who wants to answer (or to just tell me about your MCs in general), since I’m curious about everyone’s preferred way to play!
Whoever is working on this wiki has already saved me time, as I couldn’t remember Vyv’s brother’s name and didn’t feel like pawing through the code to find it. This is awfully convenient, even in its incomplete state.
I normally focus on two skills. I like to combine high skullduggery and high intellect. A very shrewd and cunning MC.
In other playthrough I combine high culture and high persuade. So they know how to behave and if they don’t know, they persuade people to think they know
I’m a dirty cheater: my MC has all skills maxed, so I could plan and execute the perfect heist, win a boxing tournament by sheer strenght and have memorized every single literary reference to share while dining with perfect manners. Whatever fits the mood.
(Cheats are so fun, thank you for including this mode in the game<3 I tend to stress a lot about wanting to do X and not managing, especially in games where you can’t save. It’s not that I’m afraid of the consequences, because failing is fun in this game, but sometimes I really want to do X and it’s frustrating not being able to!)
I also have another MC that I play without cheats, but that one is so chaotic and cares so little about everything that I feel great no matter what happens
My friend, i had just reach the part once again, yes, Fitzie talk about the rumour of Inner circle instead of confirming it , it was my own perception that i believe the rumour , and thus wary of the loyalty of Fitzie
I am putting in as High Culture, Intellect , Observe and Persuade
I regularly play a persuasive character so it was really surprising to see one of my MC having high intellect and a soothing personality. But, oh well she prefers to read than get into trouble so I guess it works for her character.
I like focusing on two, as well! More specifically, I tend to play with two good stats, two middling stats, and two dump stats. Some of my favourites are energetically enthusiastic MCs with zero people skills (and whose ‘friendly’ backslaps can grievously wound the recipient), or intellectual savant MCs who can outmanoeuvre almost any threat except Thunder Bailey’s handballs.
I love this combination, and use it for one of my main MCs! They’re well-intentioned and always happy to take initiative, but not very bright, and consistently rushing headfirst into things without forethought or full comprehension of the situation. Fitzie calling them a “particularly endearing idiot” at one point made me snort, too.
I also have a soft spot for low Observe MCs, and how they have trouble recognising people or can sometimes just completely tune out of their surroundings. (They’re especially amusing when played right after a high Observe MC, to see just how much flies over their head.)
I think my favorite thing is playing a character with a scandal that is somewhat opposite their usual stats. Like–
Playing a intellect/culture MC who got drunk out of his mind with old pals (again) had me laughing. Conversely, a bold/persuade who took the fall for Marmaduke because he let himself be convinced.
The stats can be gained again easily enough, and I’ve always liked the storytelling aspect of it.
