Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from.
Those were my initial thoughts as well, but then I kinda… grew conflicted about whether that’s a good idea in that version.
My thoughts on the matter:
If I’m really aiming for a mysterious tone from the Special Forces side, then it wouldn’t make much sense to reveal the POV of the assassin RO since it’d just straight up remove any question about their identity (perhaps if I’m careful about it and just give some tidbits here and there it can work, but still). I also want to make all ROs gender-selectable, so that’s another question: obviously, I can make you set the assassin’s gender at the beginning of the game, not after meeting them, but then I’m pretty sure people will find out that one character has differing genders depending on what they chose. Basically, that’s out of the question too (and I still want to keep the gender-selectable aspect, so…)
At this point, the only way I see it can work is if it’s some kind of a known rivalry between the MC and the assassin RO, meaning that they know each other’s identities and such. But, again, if I’m not careful, it may turn out to be very silly and unbelievable, especially considering the general tone of the story I’m going for.
Or, now that I’m thinking about it, maybe it also can work in a ‘Hannibal Lecter’-kinda way, where the assassin RO is caught at some point, but they’re around and you interact with them either for bits of advice, to interrogate, or in any other… ways (knowing the CoGites).
If I may, what are your thoughts on this?
