More into orchestra musicians but ballet dancer would be great too!

As for me, any new IF where MC does something artistic or scientific instead of being a warrior/soldier is welcome…

you’re definitely living up to your username, i see lol

i’m personally more intrigued by ballet. but i do agree that an orchestra musician if story would be awesome, especially if the person making it is passsionate about that world.

i also want to see more of mcs doing creative fields too. i’m really glad someone is making an acting if story for example.

I’m thinking of making an interactive story about an aspiring ballet dancer attending Juilliard.
One thing that I wonder about is what I should do about the MC’s background.
Should I have the MC have a
[1] wealthy background
[2] working-class background
I was thinking of doing both and making them choices in game, but that might be too much for me. So I’m considering picking only one.
Which one do you guys think would be best to focus on?

  • wealthy family
  • working-class family

I think working-class would be…hm… hm… typical? Or maybe more popular?
I mean, there are tons of stories (often based on the biographies of real people) in pop culture about someone poor who rose to the top despite the difficulties and thanks to their talent and especially hard work, they were appreciated.
When it comes to ballet, Misty Copeland would probably be a good example, I guess

As for the wealthy background, it would probably be easiest to use the trope of a parents who provide material goods, but MC feels lonely and burdened with expectations that they will be the perfect child who will choose the perfect profession instead of thinking about nonsense like ballet.

Well, whatever you want. The author knows best what will fit the story they want to write.

So I had this idea for an adult smutty romance game, but it’s one where a majority of the love interests are red flags and lowkey kinda toxic lol.

La Petite Mort [Dark Romance, Drama, Slice of Life)

After a messy breakup, you’ve moved on or so you think. Then, your ex tracks you down, leaving voicemails that veer between apologetic and threatening. One night, they corner you, admitting they have been following you since your split with them. Though you try to resist, the old feelings resurface, reigniting that explosive chemistry. As their obsession escalates, you’re torn between rekindling the fiery romance or breaking free from their suffocating grip once and for all.

Jahan/Janan Farsi, Your ex
Ambitious. Perfectionistic. Ruthless.
J works as a CEO to the company you work at. Hailing from old money, J carries himself with an air of casual opulence, confidence, and authority. Normally stoic and cold, J only seems to soften when around you.

Rafael/Rafaela Dellamorte, Your Enigmatic Neighbor
Nerdy. Awkward. Intense.
When you move into a cozy apartment, excited for a fresh start, your enigmatic next-door neighbor quickly takes an interest in you. At first, it’s flattering–the occasional run-ins, the small gifts left at your door. But soon, you realize they know too much about your life: your daily routine, the color of your underwear, even your favorite scent…

Winter/Willow Montgomery, Your Best Friend
Charismatic. Reckless. Guarded.
They have been your best friend since kindergarten. For as long as you remember, W had that rockstar charm, evident by their countless admirers and the stream of broken hearts wherever they went. You were the only one in their life that they didn’t try to woo, and you had a hopeless crush on them that you swore to never reveal. To get over your feelings, you got in a relationship with J. But you’re not sure you ever really got over them.

I’ll never say no to red flag ROs

Hot damn, this is very intriguing. I kind of want to play as the aro ace best friend of the main character who exists to protect them from these ROs who should definitely be in therapy and/or jail. Well, maybe not the last one.

Omg! I want to play this so badly! Poor Uriel. But also, poor us. I can’t believe God is supposed to be our mom and she just threw us out like that when we were going through our rebellious phase. Wait, does that mean Gabriel is our sibling? Wait, is Jesus Christ our sibling? I think my only struggle while playing this will be to somehow keep myself from making a bunch of Good Omens comparisons, but I really do think I’ll adore the writing style, going by the synopsis!

While you should write what calls and resonates with you most as my primary recomendation, I’d love if both were an option - I think the doability of that depends just on how in depth you’d want to go into doing that. If its one or the other, I’d vote for wealthy background as most of us are not wealthy and its nice to play these games to live a different life than the one we are used too. Sounds like a fun game and I look forward to trying it someday.

This sounds like good wicked fun; not sure what all the rules for hosted games are yet and one of these days I really need to familiarize myself for my own game promotion, but as long as they seem likely to allow it, I think that sort of game could fill a void for a more riske’ spicey type of game here.

Alright, not positive I know what I am doing (first post) but I hope this is right!

I’ve really been hankering for a game set in a star-trek inspired universe, but sci-fi is already hard to come by in IF and my specific interests are even more niche. My main inspos are Voyager and Deepspace 9. I loved Life of a Space Force Captain, but it didn’t fully scratch my itch so I started working on my own story about space exploration.

I’ve already started on a demo, but had to start over after way overscoping my story threads, so I’m hoping to play more by the book this time and actually get feedback early on in the process. Currently I’m about 15k words into the new version, with the major storybeats largely planned out, but I want some feedback before I get too deep in it.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

Setting/Premise

We open on our galaxy in the far future. You are a part of the Astral Alliance, a coalition of planets set on keeping peace and working on behalf on every one of its citizens. After a scandal that stopped you from taking on any big missions for the Alliance for years, you were suddenly promoted to captain and given your own ship.

The story will consist of smaller ‘episodes’ or missions for you to complete. Success or failure will impact the larger plot which starts to unfold as your career continues. The way you complete missions will be up to you, be it diplomacy, espionage, or brute force. Each mission reveals more information about the mysteries of the Alliance and the other worlds you come across.

The game will not be light or goofy. There’s several heavy topics and themes included in the main plot. There’s no morally correct paths to follow. The game will include a large amount of political intrigue. Also, space exploration is dangerous. Your choices can have significant consequences, including major character deaths.

Features

Play as one of several alien species, all with unique powers and benifits. These choices are not purely cosmetic and will give you different strengths and weaknesses depending on your playstyle.

Play as female, male, genderless, non-binary, cis or trans. Genderqueer PCs can unlock special scenes with other nb or trans characters.

While you can romance multiple different characters, such as other officers on your ship or different people you meet on your adventures, they all have lives outside of you. Help play matchmaker among several different NPCs. Important character scenes are not locked to romance routes. High friendship will get the same plot outcome.

Pick sides in galactic conflicts or domestic affairs, all of which involve a level of moral grayness, and several endings.

ROs

Commander Richard Dyo, your First Officer (he/him)
Dyo is an incredibly curious individual, especially invested in anthropology, religion, and history. He does what he can to avoid pain, avoiding getting too close to people. His plot lines involve his reaction to tragedy, as he searches for answers in an uncaring universe.
Lieutenant Alan Nelson, your Chief Engineer (he/him)
Nelson is brilliant when it comes to the innerworkings of a space ship, but wraught with anxieties around anything related to actual people. His plot lines involve building confidence, questions about purpose, and the definitions of humanity.
Lieutenant Pax Parel, your Lead Navigator (they/them)
Parel is an energetic and positive social butterfly who believes whole-heartedly that all press is good press. Under their bubbly demeanor is a definite hard worker, desperate to make their family proud. Their plot lines involve teaching the PC to let loose and have fun, as well as exploring the idea of what makes a family.
Doctor Kassllan Luanna, your Chief Medical Officer (she/her)
Luanna is cold and strict, a doctor without a bedside manner. It takes a lot for her to open up, but doing so reveals a woman with a deep desire for freedom and self-expression. Her plot lines involve the concept of identity and learning how to prioritize herself over others.
Other ROs are under development
My other RO ideas are a sensitive himbo warlord, your old conspiracy-theorist captain, a wise non-corporial being, and a couple other crew members. Plus flings with different aliens if you want to let out your inner Kirk.

I know it’s a little different from most popular IFs (at least the ones I’ve seen), but if it strikes your fancy please share any feedback or other thoughts you may have! I’ll share a demo once my first or second chapters are done. Thanks!

Sounds very interesting and as someone who loves star trek (especially deep space nine and voyager) and other shows like it I can’t wait to read what you have in store. I wish you the best of luck with it .

You buy me with the “sensitive himbo warlord”, specifically with the himbo thing. AND WARLORD?? I never expected to see that combination but I love it. :yum:

Ahahaha ok great I’ll make sure to develop that one further, thanks!

That sounds like a great premise. I love star trek and a more episodic game sounds like a nice change from the huge overarching stories that are being published lately. Can’t wait to find out what you’ll cook up for us if you decide on writing this game!

I love the premise, I think this will make a fun game.

Pls make this omg.

I’m generally a sucker for stories based on religious figures/iconography, and anything featuring Cain is an automatic read/watch for me. Even your premise and RO descriptions are written in such an interesting way. So exciting.

I can’t really think of any specific mechanics/features I’d want. But I did see some concern about the temptation aspect needing a clear purpose and imo I don’t think that’s necessary. I mean, it’s a game about Lucifer. I think the premise would naturally filter out anyone who’d have a massive problem with it lol. I think the idea of you being able to tempt people, take souls, etc. would be a really cool mechanic, especially if it could potentially alter the main story too.

Ooh, if you haven’t played it yet, Starship Adventures. Comedy game, episodic and star-trek-like. Love your concept, always want more space/sci-fi games!

Awesome thanks for the suggestion! Comedy is always hit or miss for me but I’ll check it out.

I think it will be difficult for you to get meaningful feedback before posting a demo but I am definitely interested in reading more from what you have shared here!

Ooh, sounds great! After finding Lori Hernandez on youtube I’ve thought it would be cool to read a ballet IF :ballet_shoes: :sparkles: (I never knew so much sewing/darning was involved in ballet…!)

As for a background I believe some amount of weath is necessary - the price of shoes alone!

Honestly, it sounds awesome. I never get tired of this premise however it’s executed!
