Are the Night elves from your story similar to Night elves from World of Warcraft
More like drow from what ive gathered.
I kid you not, the first thing I immediately saw when I looked at your post was;
Immediately hooked
yes
no
With this in mind(romance etc) will these relationships hold any significant story wise?
Sorry is that a âno itâs not a dealbreakerâ or âno itâs not worth itâ
Yes! Like I said, itâs still early days, but Iâm planning for both platonic and romantic relationships to be important and have effects on some scenes and outcomes.
itâs not a deal breaker quite the opposite actually
Iâve been playing around with a concept that I think is kind of neat, but I want a vibe check.
Western-y/rural post apocalyptic setting with cowboy types seeking out a vaguely eldritch creature. Would have a small main cast including a Mysterious Stranger, a Radio Host, and a âCity Slickerâ (yes, with some romance) and a very on-the-road feel. Itâs still pretty early but it would have a mashup of common themes from westerns and post apocalypse stories and a smidge of lovecraftian horror, if I can pull that off. I want to focus on cultivating a really atmospheric setting and lots of opportunities for the PC to express motivation or feeling about whatâs happening around them but I worry that it might feel too⌠ambling and lack the expected action of your typical post apocalypse setting if I donât dedicate a good portion to combat stats, but I just donât typically enjoy writing or working with combat stats. But maybe I should try to get over that? Idk, does this seem interesting to anybody? Would you read it?
It certainly seems interesting to me, and I personally really enjoy combat in interactive fiction. I wouldnât push myself into something I donât like writing too much. I donât know how dreadful you want the post-apo atmosphere of your world to be, but even if you wanted to make our hearths pound now and then, you surely can accomplish that without having combat in the game, especially with the lovecraftian horror layer to it. Or perhaps you are aiming for a more chilled out, âcolorfulâ expirience with a bit of the lovecraftian horror sprinkled on top? Either way, I like the idea of the on-the-road feel, and I think it goes great with the western. Overall, even if I canât predict how the world looks like, it certainly sounds original and it intrigued me. I would definitely play a demo.
As in, you literally eat humans (including your parents) to survive? As interesting as the overall premise is, something like this might need to go on an adult thread, depending on how graphic you plan to make it. Apple apparently has been known to be pretty unpredictable as far as content standards go, so you might have to tone down the content if you plan to publish this. (Steam is much more lax on such things, but sadly thatâs not where most of the customers are)
Not that I know of, and I think the content of your post, as it is, is ok. But youâll have to pay attention to the content of your WIP once it is out.
Noted, thank you so much!
There is, but itâs not very active

I think my comment should be fine on here, thank you anyways though!
Hi all - I would love feedback on the basic premise of the game Iâve been working on. Copied below.
High above the ravaged surface of a post-apocalyptic world, the city of Arcadia floats serenely in the sky. This marvel of engineering and human perseverance has been aloft for hundreds of years, home to 150,000 souls living within a complex society that has adapted to life among the clouds. The cityâs survival hinges on its massive gravitational engines, their maintenance a sacred duty passed down through generations.
Powered by these technological wonders and sustained by advanced systems, Arcadia slowly circumnavigates the globe, a beacon of civilization in a world laid to waste. The city is a study in contrasts: the central Spire and inner districts house the elite, showcasing technological marvels and opulence. Here, the governing families and privileged citizens enjoy luxuries reminiscent of the old world. In contrast, the outer rings and their underlying slums tell a tale of struggle and survival, where every day is a battle against scarcity and the ever-present cold seeping in from the high altitude.
Arcadia is governed by seven founding families, their power rotating in cycles, with the current leader known as the Hand. But true influence often lies in the shadows, in the delicate balance between the families, the undercity, the Military Police, and other factions. Among those factions are The Argonauts. These brave explorers venture to the surface in search of resources, knowledge, and individuals with unique skills to join Arcadia. These missions are crucial to Arcadiaâs continued existence. [YOU PLAY AS AN ARGONAUT].
Life in Arcadia pulses with energy. For example, the Entertainment District offers a glimpse into pre-apocalyptic pleasures, from fine dining to old-world movies, while the Arena provides thrilling, if controversial, spectacles. Meanwhile, in the District of Innovation, competing research institutes push the boundaries of science, their discoveries often sparked by artifacts recovered from the surface below. There is much to discover in Arcadiaâs various districts.
Yet for all its wonders, Arcadia faces constant challenges. The harsh realities of aerial life demand strict resource management and population control. And always, there is the delicate dance of power among the ruling families, each vying for influence and control as the Hand guides the city.
In this floating citadel, every citizen plays a part in keeping the city aloft, from the engineers maintaining the crucial gravitational engines to the farmers tending vertical crops in the outer districts. Life here is a constant negotiation between hope and hardship, innovation and tradition, freedom and control. As Arcadia sails through the clouds, its people look both inward to their sky-bound home and outward to the mysterious world below, wondering what the future holds for their island in the sky.
All feedback is welcome. I realize I havenât included a central conflict in this summary. I am mostly gauging interest in the setting.
That doesnât really tell anything about the story.
Setting sounds great! Very interesting and unique. What type of apocalyptic event has occurred in the story though?
Well you left out the most important thing, the central conflict.
Based on this, I can guess a coup or a rebel group being the conflict. Or aliens.
No itâs obviously Space Germans coming from the moon too take revenge for ww2
Maybe the central conflict is the friends youâll make along the way! In all seriousness, this initial story is about discovering the world below and preventing Arcadiaâs destruction. Arcadiaâs engines need constant upkeep and resources are finite in the city. As you explore, youâll discover more about the world, how it âendedâ and hopefully discover a way to mitigate (or eliminate) the risk of Arcadia plummetting out of the sky. There is a political aspect to the story as well. The Argonauts survive on the good-will of the influential and powerful. Depending on what the player discovers, some of these influential people might throw their support and resources behind the organization, or they might openly oppose the Argonauts.
I have 2 concepts in my mind bugging me for a long while
Space Themed - Into the Deep
fantasy elements - several career paths on a distant station habitat by 10.000s
miners, techies, pilots - cargo or fighter depends on your courage ^^ , gunners - defenders of the station, traders, and swashbuckling freeagents ^^
(Adding a mash of Wing Commander Series, Expanse, Firefly sauce - while playing or watching I always have alternative questions at the back of my mind so why not combine them for the game)
Itâs was yes, but we are 1000 years far away from the Mother Earth, Alpha Thaurus.
First colonizer arrived to the bright star of Aeckheleon with hybernations of many cycles, even with longevity and therapeutic mitochondria and DNA injections to the cells - revolutionized the life span - took several generations to reach .
Space Station New Atlantis was built to accomodate the colonization of the Terran like brilliant planet Aeckheleon Prime but some ill-series of events prevented that and the terraforming or colonizing will require some additional reserarches.(And generations, meaning you are stuck with space station and some smaller ones much behind)
The arriving colony ships resorted in to founding the great station New Atlantis, full of enginering wonders, hope and all.
During your career you can be a station trader climbing up the ladders by doing business inside,
- gunner cadet - defending against the pirates (no one knows how they came there but theories of a failed colonyship succumbed to anarchy and somewhere behind the main fleet stuck and became a pirate base)
- pilot cadet- kargo or combat- will be open on later
- trader assistant - off station / on station
- tech trainee - start with basic HVAC fixes to design systems, design ship armanents and build stuff
- freeagent ^^ firefly , millenium falcoln, or trader joe - as you wish
My experience with Luuckey United stat works provided me with some insights to develop genuie and entertaining action engines - so no gameplay will be same with action details - story for sure share elements.
Suprise element Tharkonians - soap opera so donât want to give more spoilers just concept.
Werth Quh Iom - Medieval Fantasy
Had a story written with several chapters and some notes many years ago(2003 or 2004) in a fanzine and people digged it. So it will based on that , sort of a closure for myself ^^
Medieval Fantasy - R.A.Salvatore style full action in the first scene - saving er ryan like entry, you will be an enlisted human against many foes including giants, assassins, troll like enemies long forgotten attacking to the northern most security point - the keep of the twin horns, two layer walls with towers.
Defenders has the Staon knights - the berserking great knights - swordmasters + viking frenzy , Clerical, healer cast, archers, infantry, special attack teams - engineer+archers+foot soldiers
You start as one of the given class, but no matter which class you picked you will not be able to breath in the first chapter or two. No quarter given to MC or NPCs they are all doomed
You are hastly enlisted and arriving to the battle zone, first wall have some breachs, second wall also breached - so you have to close the breach and stabilize as a green soldier - but the destiny doesnât asks to our MC if they are ready or not ^^
So many reserve units rushed to the battlefield to close the inner circle, secondary wall breaches. Some breaches are closed by dead bodies of attackers and the defenders.
Smoke all around, barely have a vision and your green unit made it only to face a challenge they are not up to, the giants ogres rushing to your ranks. You are trained for that, no matter what shield wall needs to hold, the comrades needs to be on your sides
(Before the Vikings or many other shows on the streaming services I wrote that with more details yep )
You feel like those endless drills should had prepared you, and while arriving to the battle zone you thought you are sort of prepared with only one main problem.
You are at the front line! Nothing prepared you for a direct clash against the enemy.
To be precise that giant things with their giant battle hammers are charging to your unit, an ugly one directly to youâŚ
âŚwill refrain myself to write - first action scenes are pretty much omaha beach landing style - no quarters and total chaos ^^
One of the medieval one is Werth Quh Iom, action packed. I may combine it with my other medieval idea - but itâs more realm building style - will see after some thought given.
Being able to create subs for algorithms enable me to prepare rich stuff. From combat of footsoldiers to the combat of space station gunners or ships.
So sharing this here , at list my mind will be in a bit ease while working on the Luuckey United FC
