Interest Check Thread

By law it goes to the Diet to determine. As a Therionid you are theoretically eligible but I don’t feel comfortable saying at the moment if the throne can pass to you. Valerix died without any children. There are some candidates that are sensible, something I touched on was that Arkadian Highborns live longer than normal humans. Around 200-220 and I’m thinking that you can choose to be in the 40-60 range which is the equivalent of like a 20-30 year old.

So maybe in later volumes if you play your cards right you can perhaps seize the day and the throne?

Would you care much for a superhero/villain story which takes a relatively long time to get to the “superpowers” portion of it?

Meaning, building up MC’s personality, their childhood and relationships before them getting the powers, coming to terms with them and being exposed to the world of masked people who move rocks with their minds. Basically, extending chapter 0 and making it the first ark, instead.

As long as there’s something interesting going on, sure. I’d rather not spend the whole first quarter/third/half/whatever-length of the game selecting pizza toppings.

anything with superpowers :person_in_tuxedo:

and well

Though I have questions

  • What inspired the decision to extend chapter 0 into the first arc, focusing on the main character’s childhood, relationships, and personal growth before delving into the world of superpowers?

  • In extending chapter 0 into the first arc, how do you plan to maintain reader engagement and anticipation without the immediate presence of superpowers?

If this part of the story has its own arc/plot to keep it interesting, then there’s no reason it can’t be a fun and meaningful part of the story

It’s what feeds into the story’s themes the most, I think, which are metamorphosis, overcoming trauma of being powerless, and how society is affected by having a fraction of population which is so powerful it has to, ultimately, police itself. Superhero stories which explore non-super individuals usually go for the route of a powerless vigilante, or a government agent, or another type of person who, technically, doesn’t have a superpower, but is still in position to exert authority through violence or law. It’s never about a kid in the bus falling of the bridge, existing only so a flying man in spandex can dramatically catch it. The only time I’ve seen this explored is in The Refrigerator Monologues by Catherynne Valente, but it’s more about the feminine role in comic books as opposed to the general issues of a superpowered society.

Well, it’s not like it’s about picking pizza toppings. Stuff is still happening, had happened, will happen, and there is story in being powerless, maybe not as proactive as the alternative. “How do you cope with an aftermath of a supervillain attack?” isn’t necessary a more boring thing than “How do you kick this supervillain in the mouth?”. If anything, I think it’s more personal and human. I’ve survived a flood, I never fought no Professor Evilbottom. Sorry if I’m rambling, your questions really gave me stimulus to put my more abstract thoughts on paper.

It’s okay, I enjoy asking questions and getting responses in the progress, because I find it fascinating to learn about people thought process when it comes to writing their own story and see if they are truly passionate about what they are writing or planning to write. I think writing for the sake of writing is never fun.

and well, well-placed questions can be a spark that ignites a writer’s creativity :).

Different strokes for different people :person_shrugging: if I didn’t enjoy doing the writing, I wouldn’t write at all.

Paradox: Psionic Emergence
Genre: Sci-fi, Adventure, Dystopian, Gore, Action & Psycological Drama

Dr. Tim Beaumont, the visionary behind the tech company “NexGen Horizon,” stumbles upon an extraterrestrial parasite entering Earth’s atmosphere. Recognizing its potential, he initiates the formation of a team to study and harness its power. Upon discovering that the parasite is a Bio-Energetic Organism, that bestows extraordinary abilities in exchange for consuming natural energy from the human body, Dr. Tim envisions a transformative future for humanity, launching what he terms the “Psionic Human Project.”

Tragedy strikes when you, the protagonist, succumb to a fatal accident resulting in brain damage. Dr. Tim, seeking a solution, approaches your grieving mother, Mrs. Becky, offering financial support in exchange for her 6-year-old child’s body for experimental purposes. Without consulting your mother, your father seizes the opportunity for a better life. A day later, Dr. Tim informs the family that the experiment failed but refuses to return your body. Mrs. Becky threatens to expose the truth, prompting Dr. Tim to eliminate her before she can take any action.

Fast forward eleven years, you, now 17, awaken after a daring escape orchestrated by your childhood friend, Troy Denver, he takes you to a place where he along with some other people who want to rebel against the new system are hiding out. The once-familiar world is now populated by Biomechs, individuals hosting these bio-energetic parasites. Troy fills you in on what is going on, and how the NexGen company is now controls society with no one daring to go against the most powerful company in the world regardless of the abilities they all possess.

As you navigate this transformed society, you embark on a quest to bring freedom once again, and for answers behind a dark experiment. In a realm of Psionic Humans, you unravel the mysteries and confront unforeseen consequences, all while questioning the whereabouts of your parents amid this chaotic landscape.

this has the potential to be a thrilling and thought-provoking sci-fi adventure.

Though I have some questions

  • What are the long-term effects of the parasite on the Biomechs?

  • How does the bio-energetic parasite affect the personality and behavior of the host? Does it have any side effects or drawbacks?

  • What are the different types of abilities that the bio-energetic parasite can grant? How do they relate to the natural energy of the human body? How do the Biomechs use their abilities in their daily lives and in their resistance against the NexGen company?

  • Firstly, it has no particular long term effect on the host
  • The parasite only feeds off the body’s natural energy like nutrients and stuff, but you eventually find ou
from troy that the parasite tends to feed off the cells in the human brain only when over-exerted, Like
when you use your abilities too much. In which case, leaving the host brain dead but the body being kept alive because of the parasite and can still use their abilities, exept this time you are not in control in control. In this world Such a person is known to be a (parazombie)
  • The parasites grant abilities based on the brain signals it recieves from the host and can sometimes
even grant as much as two abilities in some rare cases. Most times personality plays a vital role in the ability aspect
