Ilyaaren: The Explosion

Oops, I forgot to mention – there has been an update.

Not a major one–this was more a coding update than a content update. The stats screen has been completely revamped, lots of stats have been changed/removed/added, etc.

I’m still actively working on it, blah blah blah.

Enjoy!

Thanks

Well. That was short.

Which link did you click? I haven’t removed the link from the very first alpha test.

Admittedly, even the longest is still very alpha and only clocks in at about 4k-6k words, including code.

Also, it has already been mentioned more than once (particularly for the very first link), that it’s short. No need to comment about it

I’d appreciate something constructive, rather than just “it’s short.” I know it’s short. And that’s for various reasons.

Thanks for your input, though.

Not sure, since I read relatively quickly, but it was only about a 3 minute read.

Oh well. Sorry you’re not satisfied. I’m doing small updates often, rather than one update every several weeks (which I initially was going to do…then I nixed over 15k words because it just didn’t fit, and I felt bad, so I updated with what I have  which is mostly all behind the scenes stuff).

Anyway, thanks for your input, and have a lovely day.

Ah. That would explain it. Sorry. I saw •Dragons• and dove in.

Nah, no worries! I’m not offended or anything. I know it’s short, hah ^^; I’m glad the mention of dragons piqued your interest.

Depending on how you choose to play your character, they can play a really large part. At least in the way I have it planned.

I’m actually working on the first chapter right now ^^;

While it is short right now, as previously stated, I thought it was quite interesting, and I’m excited to see where the game goes from here. Also, I apologize if this has already been answered, but will the romances be gender restricted?

As short as the demo is, I’m looking forward to what comes next!

First of all, I really like the aesthetics, especially the rectangular frame you placed around the text - looks clean and nice.

With regards to the customisation, I thought it would be better if you placed this scene:

before this

Reason being, if I want to go bald (which I think is an option you can include), there isn’t a need for me to select a hair colour yea?

So, the first male name is “Dannick”, and there’s a major character called “Derrick”. That looks like it could get a little confusing…

Otherwise, it looks good; good luck with the writing!

Bald is definitely an option I’ll add! Thanks for suggesting it. However, hair color determines one of your parents’ hair color, as well as your brother’s.

I can always make an extra scene, just for bald people, where it says, “but what color is your hair when you have any?” or something along those lines…

Or I guess I can just predetermine a haircolor for parent/Tarvin, with an if statement, though I think that’ll start to get a little bit complicated. I already have some pretty complex code behind the scenes.

Totally up for suggestions, there! ^^

Hmmm…the reason for this being that when I was planning this as a novel (rather than a game), this character’s name was Dannick. But you’re definitely right, that could get confusing. Would putting it further down the list work, you think (since I know a lot of people just choose the first name they see), or should I just remove the name altogether?

Also, thanks for the various compliments ^^ I’m glad you guys like it so far! That’s a huge compliment, considering it is so short. Y’all gon’ make me blush :heart_exclamation:

This is gon’ be in spoiler tags, because it actually could potentially be spoilery. I haven’t looked closely at it.

Since I’m in the learning stages of figuring out how to use my darned cartography program, I’m gonna attach a few maps that I hand-drew months and months ago when I was plotting this all out.

I haven’t carefully read anything I wrote on there (as notes), so be warned.

And you’ll obviously notice some differences (such as how I decided dragons are a lot less rare than I initially envisioned).

So um yeah, read at your own risk of spoilers, etc. And I’m sorry in advance for my terrible artistry. An artist I am…very much not.

if anything is/was spoiled for you, it’s your own fault~

My milk is spoiled now I blame you for not telling me to put it in the fridge…
I love the idea that dragons are going to be slightly more common I use hexograph when I make maps for gaming when I run campaigns

Yup, this looks good to me.

If it’s a map of a country or kingdom I can help you if you want it. I don’t go all out or anything and try to keep it simple. If you’re interested I can show you two of my examples.

Well, bald people still have hair.

Just not at the top of their heads XD

HAH! For now, I have a bunch of *if *else statements (and more on the way) involving being bald. I’m going to have to, since “your” appearance is mentioned within the story–add in that various features that “you” have are shared by “your” family (though not all, since they’re their own people)…Well. For now, I have “your” natural hair color being black, if “you’re” bald. And wow, using quotation marks is getting annoying.

Just because, at the time, it was simpler to make *if *else statements for your family members’ appearances than to completely add in another section to the character creation, throwing everything off by at least one space…

Go figure I ended up doing that several times over to include the ability to choose your own pronouns if gender neutral

ANYWAY THAT’S JUST ME RANTING, sorry

@ToxicDreams actually, that sounds really awesome! I am so terrible at anything involving art, so if you could PM me, that would be fantastic :two_hearts:
