I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2)

There was a talk about that and many people were not okay with that.

I think the consensus was “lesbian Marshal silently pining for Lada even though Lada cannot return her feelings ever and does not and will not notice any hints the Marshal may drop” was a bit too cruel to F/F seekers. My personal feeling is that allowing Lesbian!F!Marshal to be in unrequited love with Lada (instead of what we currently have in the game with no F/F ROs, requited or otherwise) would have poured gas on the forum fire.

@Mellie That scene (whether you shame or threaten Archbishop Wrido but especially if you threaten) is so so good with Warm Strong Elya. Even if I didn’t prefer Warm Strong Elya for thematic reasons, I’d steer Elya to being warm just for her verbal punch to Archbishop Wrido wrapped in the velvet glove of politeness.

Yes, it’s one thing to have option of unrequited attraction, but it’s another when it’s just one specific pairing type where such feelings go unrequited.

That may be, but that’s why you should have choices, right lol? As long as it is a choice and doesn’t railroad the player. There are some fucked up things you can choose to do in the game, wild to draw the line at something like this. But I totally get what you mean. And my point was, as I said, to go beyond an RO. As of now, playing like a Lesbian is like playing as Aromantic, which… shouldn’t be the case at all. But hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad this exists, to play as a woman and to be a lesbian so as it auto-rejects Milon, even if that is the lone instance where the lesbian sexuality comes into check.

Actually, being a lesbian Marshal “should” auto reject Milon from even flirting with you but it doesn’t. Usually in most CoG/Hosted Games when you pick a sexual preference, it usually prevents other ROs not of that sexuality from flirting with you but for some reason this one doesn’t. It might be the fact that a lesbian Marshal is keeping it secret and that’s why the author left it in like that.

Same with a gay Marshal and Lada. I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. I get the logic behind it, but Lada’s aggressive flirting and complete inability to take a hint actually makes me a little uncomfortable.

She’s aggressive too? I thought that she was the more reserved of the two siblings.

I thought the discomfort was the whole point? With MC treated as more of an object rather than a human, just like how MC was a tool of war for the kingdom.

Not really. Both siblings have the same dynamic; relentlessly pursue Marshal till they realize they fucked up and leave them alone or romance them. It was stated way back, I think even in the intro post.

Iirc, that’s part of the point. It’s an inversion from when the player is typically the one pursuing the ‘damaged’ RO with an idealized version of said RO in their head.

Yes, and I appreciate that about Milon. The idealization didn’t last long, thankfully, and Milon (and I assume Lada) know that the MC is broken, and truly want to help them now. Personally, I love playing a game where my MC doesn’t have to hump the RO’s leg every time they walk into the room before the morons realize the MC likes them.

Actually…Beside Milon or Lada I want that Author add Rade as secret RO . It very very angst story haha

Lol so many edits curious what had come before the minor correction i saw… as to the rade as a secret RO reasonably certain that wont be a thing in the next book but there is susppost to be more ROs at the very least one more for f/f beyond that dont recall what ive seen said about them to much.

I think Maybe homosexaul is something Kantos doesn’t accept in public (?) just like in Medieval Era under Church.I mean mostly people in Kantos isn’t okay with it.becuse Marshall ever mention in start game that it is uncomfortable for someone know they are homosexual .

Far as the general public is concerned? Probally dont care to much its more of a church thing i believe and a concern of those who care about the continuation of a family line kinda thing. Far as kanton goes. Aside from perhaps the social stigma tgat such might or could generate but its all pretty speculative how deep it all goes at this point. Up to bacon on how far they wish to delve into such things yet beyond the obvious i just know we should be getting at least one more RO in the next book maybe more.

Agree

From the very beginning, Milon and Lada were meant to be normal people of Kanton that see the Marshal as the “hot” kind of damaged and want to fix them with the power of love. Instead of playing as them, we play as the object of their affection and have the option to choose our reactions to their romance initiation attempts.

Kanton is, as a deliberate world-building choice, a sexiest and homophobic (and xenophobic, which is why the Marshal is described as “an average Kantonian (wo)man” during appearance customization and their appearance sets the looks of everyone else) society. Sort of similar to Cataphrak’s world-building choices with Tierra. I personally liked the worldbuilding choices and how they impacted the characters’ worldviews, but I can understand why someone wouldn’t enjoy it.

F!Marshal and Lada (and to some extent Elya) are exceptions to the rules about women’s roles in Kantonian society (and they bond over it if you play as F!Marshal) because of their sheer competence, and even then they are treated as exceptional women (rather than who any Kantonian woman, given the opportunity, could be) by their society. Krorid is slightly more liberal than Kanton in terms of women’s roles, but not by much (notice that all the Kroridian troops we meet and interact with are men [or appear to be men], and the Battle Maidens are a [fetishized] myth). If it’s uncomfortable, I think that was the point.

If you choose for Obren and Vedran to be lovers, they talk a bit about the reality for gay people in Kanton (Obren is firm and openly talks back with Vedran when we choose that they were just friends in the past, but when we choose that they were once lovers he is terrified at the thought of someone else hearing their conversation). It seems that denial and lack of knowledge that sexualities other than “straight” exist at best and persecution (likely under Church doctrine) at worst. Obren and Vedran likely only got together because they were the only two gay people (in the world, for all they knew) that they knew of. Gay!M!Marshal and Obren are also only overtly romantic (by “overtly romantic” I mean the cuddly kissy time Milon and Lada had with Straight!Marshal in a public setting, if they were in a couple) in the Marshal’s chambers, where they have privacy. I also believe Darin is meant to be an exception to the average Kantonian’s view on homosexuality (which is why he accepts Marshal being gay immediately without any sort of conversation and leaves Marshal/Obren alone at the end when he sees them [without disturbing them], while musing to himself about young love). Again, if it was uncomfortable I think that was the point.

What I meant by that is, according to the code, there’s only one time that a lesbian check comes into place, and it is to reject Milon in chapter 4, in all 11 chapters. Now, as people said, he is his own character and goes through an arc, uh, maybe a warning for spoilers is too late but be careful with the discussion above if you haven’t completed the game? ahahah.:melting_face:Very cool discussions though.

When comes the next book of this author (John Louis) ? This is amazing! The detail, the narrative the history… next book, you have a buyer right here!
