I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2)

The Marshal themselves can tell Elya “One war at a time,” in Chapter 7, and Darin echoes it with “One succession crisis at a time, [lass]”. I like these echoes a lot (and it’s why I can’t pick anything other than “One war at a time” at that choice set). “Be strong in front of others and be weak to yourself” is another good echo (while I picked “We’ll work together” on my Cold Elya run is it also echoed ironically when the Marshal SHs in Chapter 3? I didn’t screenshot it).

@Phenrex Most people agree. (Da)Darin topped the character poll, with 72 percent of respondents picking him as one of their top three favorite characters.

Ahh I noticed that too! Part of me likes to think that was because Darin really has become the Marshal’s adoptive father and rubbed off on them, meaning sometimes they have parallel opinions or thoughts. (Like, obviously Darin is my Marshal’s dad in everything but blood but yah know, for some they might reject that idea. Still, the fact they can have these parallels is really cool to me.)

That’s a huge issue on your part, no matter her power, no matter her leadership, the girl has seen wore for over a year now, she will never be the innocent sweet kid at the beginning of the game, and underestimating her and thinking her as such will get you killed if you betray her. As for her, turning into her father, there’s literally zero evidence that she would do that, absolutely none.

The primary character poll results were unsurprising for the top two, with Darin in first place by a landslide and Elya in second place. Out of the ROs, Obren was the most popular in third place, and Lada placed in fourth. While I am saddened that Milon placed in sixth behind Rade (I am now imagining Lada lording it over Milon that she placed higher in the popularity poll than he did), I am not surprised–he only warms towards the Marshal when not romantically interested in the Marshal from Chapter 5 onward (and in Chapter 7 it really becomes noticeable), and Lada and Obren warm toward a Marshal they are romantically uninterested in much earlier. I hope that he gets more time to be friendly toward the Marshal in Book 2. Vedran was a distant second-to-last place behind Velinor, and Mira was in last place (I predicted that she was nobody’s favorite, but she did place in a couple people’s top 3. Perhaps it’s because she’s a fascinating, if vile, character), which was unsurprising.

I hold no shame for my opinion.

Millon really needs some more prominence in the second game if you don’t romance him because the dude is basically a non-entity who only appears now and then

I’m not sure if he and Lada will be prominent for at least the first chunk of book 2 since they return back home at the end of the book to deal with their own problems.

I’m thinking the first third, most likely, they try to gather forces, bad things happen, they flee back to the capital with what they get, and then shit hits the fan

@Bacondoneright is it intended that you always lose a fourth of your light cavalry during the attack of the crossing in chapter 5? You’d think if you had a lot of guys, the percentage would scale downwards somewhat; I had 150 guys and coupled with the men that were already there after I took the crossing the prior day, I thought I would lose less than I actually did.

I second this. While he does warm up IMO in the latter half of the book if you play as M!Marshal, Obren (as early as the retinue training in Chapter 4 they can get along, and Obren gets on with all Marshals even if he’s not attracted to them or receiving hints of attraction) and Lada (as early as Chapter 3 she reveals that she was self taught as a surgeon to F!Marshal, and she and F!Marshal bond a bit IMO over being women working in men’s spheres) are growing warm toward the F!Marshal even before the Atiming. I hope that he is the Marshal’s primary supporter when faced with skeptical nobles that make up the coalition/doubt the regency of the Marshal, and it is different text when the Marshal is not romancing him or his sister.

As for Milon and Lada going to Jutrea at the end of Book 1, that can be resolved with a time skip and a write-up of their levy/resource gathering (similar to the epilogues, but as a prologue) and they are therefore back in the story proper as early as chapter 2.

I think the separation will be longer, throughout may be the first third of the game, but not much more than that

The cavalry loss is 25% if you succesfully repulse attack with help of reinforcements, or 50% if you succeed but your light cavalry has to fight alone. Considering they’re facing something like 200 knights it’s not really out of place. That the battle doesn’t wipe out smaller cavalry unit completely is more of a mercy on author’s part than anything else.

Does the guerilla warfare option given to [Tactic] builds seem worse than just having a frontal battle?

I feel like I lose a bunch of Rangers and Light Calvary whenever I pick it.

Big agree. And it’s also one of the best arguments I’ve seen for doing gender locked character specific romances. It’s a story and a feeling that wouldn’t easily translate to a heterosexual romance. Obren is specifically a gay romance.

Depends on how many you have and the choices you make on that part be it guerilla or battle.

With the guerilla option those are the units most at play due to the nature of them but you can minimise the losses. Though that will effect how much damage you do to rades army so to speak.

In the battle i acctually ended up losing way more of my rangers from what had remained after the intiial fight at the jungle entrace. In my latest playthrough i had 400 at start of that choose to charge for the cannons so acctually had around 220 or 225 most likely going into the later options. Accoriding tk my army numbers fro. The stat screen from the 400 it s
Dropped down to 100 wounded survivors had them in the mix of front lines though more could surivie if you kept them with the archers.

@Bacondoneright might be something to look at in the army numbers being updated there because it doesnt change leading up to the open battle or guerrilla options even though the choice at the jungle entrance could lead to different amount loss if i recall correctly.

Secondary characters are characters that are important to the plot but do not necessarily survive to Chapter 11/endgame, and do not appear in the character sheet. They include recurring characters, recurring named soldiers and characters that are important to certain chapters but do not show up in the flesh afterwards (whether due to death or the main characters’ departure from their lands).

Sokol Only appears if you do the regimentation training session, yet he still appears throughout the game as if he had already been introduced, so that’s a Continuity bug that should probably be fixed

I could have sworn he showed up in the other trainings too, in the alpha.

No, that is just an excuse to not answer the MC when he directly asks her why she is reluctant.
