I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2)

Regimentation training will always have a scene of the MC using a song to coordinate the soldiers, and the effects of training are as follows:
Regimentation lowers RetinueLoss value
Formation Fighting increases the RetinueDamage Value
Communications lowers the total Dead of the Retinue and provides more wounded.

Type of polish heavy cavalry, active in 1503–1702. Kinda famous in Poland lol
So prob this 200 years is “hussars era”, but I would say the game setting is more similar to before hussars than after.

Which weapons goes best with Plate and Brigandine armors? This is still the same MC I was using who has a pragmatic fighting style and even though I know some of y’all say the fighting style is mostly flavor, I feel like the weapons still matters though. And I would also like to know the kind of advantages and disadvantages the armor themselves have. As far as I can guess, Plate offers more protection but less mobility while Brigandine offers the reverse.

Both the armor and the weapons are aesthetic, as well, only for flavor text so far

As @Sujan_Dhakal has said its more of preference and flavor text right now in the context of the story.

Certaintly doesnt have a affect in the first game beyond that now for myself the last MC i played was short an had a ornate fighting style, brigandine armor, and the special weopan i chose was the warhammer. To my knowledge we allways get the arming sword automatically and shield.

Fighting style is pure flavor text? How disappointing…

That’s what communications is for? Game never tells me it helps with the dead and wounded… I thought it was completely useless!

I kind of like it, it’s nice not having to wonder if every choice you make is going to affect one stat or another, it means you can RP as much as you want and outside of major decisions and battle strategy, you can do whatever. it helps that this game is primarily more strategy-based, there are very few instances of you entering direct combat, and the cost of making your fighting strategy and weapon choice actually make a difference with those outside of flavor text just isn’t worth the work

It’d probably work well to make you think about what decision would be best according to your fighting style, choice of armor and body characteristics, it’d make you think more about what to choose according to the circumstance and your abilities.

The Vuk fight in Chapter 8 (a short woman can beat him even without Weapons specialization, but she has to make very specific choices) and the guard fight in Chapter 1 take the Marshal’s body (and in the case of the guard fight, whether the Marshal is properly armed and armored) into account. However those are the only two 1 vs 1s (or 1 vs small enough group that it’s manageable) in the game where it would matter.

Even then, I don’t even think the guard fight counts, it’s only possible to win that if you have a sword or if you have weapons specialization

There is a entire army system that works purely on stats. Better to leave most things related to the MC as open for roleplay as possible.

In the end, its a story about mental health, wouldnt have a lot of impact if you were focused on min-maxing your chatacter’s combat stats rather than thinking about their trauma and such.

Yes, I’m aware of that, what I mean is that I would’ve preferred for other aspects to affect the fight (like what I’ve mentioned before.

So after returning to the book after a year, I made this account specifically to ask this question. How is it that you weren’t recognized as a bastard for the first seven years of your life? If your mother was the tanners daughter, the queen would have had to realize that you were not hers because she didn’t give birth to you. Additionally if the MC existence was a secret then how were we able to play eith the princes growing up without the queen knowing?

Questions aside I absolutely love the story and look forward to the sequel!

The queen did know that the mc was a bastard the whole time (cant really trick a woman who’s never had a child that this random baby is hers). She even pretended to be pregnant around the time the mc was born so the public wouldnt know. She pretended to love the mc until she became pregnant.

Gotcha, so after he turned seven she just couldnt stand him anymore and thats when she decided to have it dealt with?

That’s basically what it was: she just got drunk once too many times and cracked

Its not so much the child MC and being seven years of raising our character. It’s the fact that she finally had the twins an eventually our sister later on. An in her drunken rage confronted her husband on his infidelity and demanded everything to happen that did happen or she would scream it from the roof tops so to speak to ruin his reign and he gave in.

She views the MC basically as the source of all her pain and suffering even though it was her husband that is the cause. Yet she couldnt hurt him but our character? Exspecially as a kid she could and thus did.

It’s not so much that she viewed the MC as the source of her problem as much as she wanted to punish her husband in any way possible, and because she had no ability to do that directly, this is what she went to

I think Krorid is actually more inspired by Lithuania. That county has had diplomatic ties with Poland historically and is geographically similar to Krorid. Both countries are characterized by swamps and lakes though only about 33% of Lithuania has forests. While Krorid is implied for it’s terrain to be mostly filled with swamps and forests.
