I, the Forgotten One—Battle a rebellion and your own inner demons!

Just bought it and got ending 2 and now I’m just dying for the sequel. Words truly can not describe how much I loved this book. Each chapter, each paragraph, each line felt so raw and was filled with so much despair. I haven’t read any IF like this in such a long time. Your book had me in tears, tightening my jaw, and quite literally pulling my hair in frustration during the war scenes. The dialogues too are top notch. Istg if ITFO does not get the recognition it deserves I might as well go on a fucking rampage. This book was an absolute delight to read.

( I just wish there was a way you could have the throne without Elya dying TvT )

There’s gonna be f/f ro in the second book, as per the author he couldn’t insert one in this one; your mc can be whatever it wants to be, ros aren’t the main focus

There is. However, you have to envy her crown, her position, the love she receives from the people, her happy childhood…

Yet some will feel jaded that while a gay Marshall will have someone there for them, the female counterpart doesn’t have someone special for them to cling to and make them feel.
Which is why some are making it known: They want wlw.

Which, got me thinking: if @Bacondoneright wanted to patch in a female romance for the lady Marshall, alongside some fixes with the typos and bugs out there, a ‘quick fix’ would be to make Lada bisexual. Given she has seen the Marshalls body she may possibly show some interest in Marshall. Let alone you could also have a little sibling rivilary of sorts between her and Milo, trying to get the Marshalls attention, only for Milo to realize, or maybe find out that he isn’t the one the Marshall is interested in, and respectfully bows out yet supports her sister.

However, I don’t see that happening. So, the next likely option would have a female soldier who is crossdressing as a male be found out by the Marshall inadvertantly, and in some manner, it starts a whirlwind romance between the two, with each sharing and having there own secret being comforted in a way.

Which, giving the history of world wars and knowing that women have in the past fought alongside men dressed up as men, is a entirely viable options given the realism of it.

For the background of this young, female soldier though… I can think of two possible path.

  1. The Farm Girl: Joining the army to get revenge after her family was slaughtered before her eyes, she ends up under the Marshalls command, disguised as a man of course. For her, she has always fancied the beauty of ladies in elegant, long dresses, dancing and swirling in the main halls of the court, and yet, as she serves under the Marshall, she sort of envisions her Marshall all dressed up, dancing with her elegantly, but is unsure that the Marshall herself feels that way, or is even interested in the prospect.

  2. The ‘Rebel’ Noble: Tired of her families constant attempts of sending suitor after suitor and wanting to live her own life, she ran away in the night, and set out to be free of her families thumb. When the call for recruits was needed after Beto’s Sally, she saw it as a means to prove that she could fight as equal to any man, and to serve her kingdom. And thats where she met the Lady Marshall. Starstruck to see another woman commanding legions of men, the weight of her words having meaning as she spoke, she couldn’t help be be drawn to this woman of power.

Appearences-Personality: Farmer- Naturally tan, given working in the fields and such, maybe light blonde hair and green eyes. Maybe soft spoken and shy, yet willing to fight to the last. Noble- Lightly dark skin, tomboyish in manners and build, brunette with grey eyes. Loud, brash, much how a guy would be, yet in private she’s more tender and equally flustered?

These are simple thoughts and ideas for the story. If the author wants to use them, I have no problem with that, just happily will take a acknowledge shout out for the idea for the help on the matter. If not, if not.

The appearances of all of the other characters are determined by the Marshal’s appearance, with some guidelines (ex. Elya always has a lighter complexion than the average Kantonian. Whether that is porcelain or golden brown depends on the Marshal’s skin color). The Marshal canonically looks like an average Kantonian (which is why their looks set everyone’s appearances).

@Christopher_Bull You can end the game as the ruler of Kanton after usurping Elya.

I have to say the Mc really does have it rough here and few understand or respect them. How has the mc put up with the abuse of his mother and siblings this whole time without doing something stupid due to their waves of emotions. I really hope the mc can get more friends or comrades in the next book who treat as a person not a freak.

One finally note could we actually betray the kingdom and join our rival from the war since considering a lot of things, it is temping cos people don’t care about us despite our actions to protect them and why should we protect the royals if they disowned us and treat us as trash.

While part of me would agree, given the shaft job of all but our sister, I think for the MC to continually work for the royals is likely due to them maybe deep deep deeeeeeep down hoping for one day to be acknowledged by their family again.

I would love if the author had put something like that in. That was why I was playing a female Marshal in the first place, especially cause I wanted to wait for a warrior/soldier woman to show up or some new options. I only started noticing that there wasn’t gonna be more new RO showing up mid-game once I got to the part where we start marching to whatever the place was called that you go to after the siege that Rade keeps doing.

I wonder Next book Will have choice for killing Elya If We overthrow her?

In the societies that the ITFOverse (specifically Kanton and Krorid) is based on, kinslaying is a big taboo (heck, the Ottomans legalized royal fratricide solely to prevent civil war; it was not legal at the foundation of the empire and was eventually outlawed in 1603 due to public disapproval). The only reason Vedran’s death gets a pass is because he’s committed treason twice (he betrayed the Queen for Rade, then took the throne for himself in Wrido in Chapter 10) and attacked the Marshal first. In the eyes of the public (peasantry, nobles, the church, non-Kantonians), Elya is innocent and harmless, and killing her after overthrowing her would be viewed as particularly evil (note also that ITFOverse does have different treatment for men and women; killing women in war is generally taboo as well—if you burn Rade’s camp in the Tactics version of Chapter 9 it’s commented on.

Of course there could be no kinslaying taboo in ITFOverse at all. Only @Bacondoneright knows the truth.

How do I coup Elya?

Thank you all for the support and feedback so far!

I’m glad to hear it!

You can always usurp her, instead…

You won’t be forced to enter any romance route. While the MC is pursued, around chapter 7 or 8 depending on the character, the pursuer will recognize their error and stop.

I’d be more than happy to add additional romance interests in the second book, but I have no plans to “patch in a romance,” especially if said patch would be to change an already established character’s sexuality.

My problem has never been with the concepts behind a F/F romance, nor has it been with F/F as a whole. In Whiskey, every RO is open to every gender, as the setting of that game is in the far future and the tone is much lighter. In ITFO, I’ve tried to make gender and sexuality have the impact it deserves, and I simply did not have a woman in the first book who I believed would fit the route.

I’m not going to add a character just so that they can be a lesbian–and especially not in retrospect.

I understand people’s frustration. I just ask that people understand my reasoning, as well.

I’ve rewritten the code for the final battle and will post a guide once COG confirms that the files are up.

Don’t worry, I managed to earn both a victory and a defeat with those same numbers.

Yup.

And emphasis on that second point. The Marshal could very reasonably plead self-defense, and nobody present for the incident is going to say what happened in that hall.

You need to choose all of the spiteful and jealous options either in dialogue or in your own thoughts.

i personally prefer the first option because none of the others ro are a common soldier (they are nobles or kitghs) which could make for a more differet romance

Well considering how the cast is 99% male and 1% female… understandable.

From what I’ve understanding is that while your open to adding possible romance interests for book two, there is no guarantee that F/F is going to happen. Which to me and certainly others who have expressed it, is a bit disappointing and certainly some will see it as a missed opportunity for a Lady Marshall to find and have that someone like Milon/Lada/Obren that makes them feel something and to have someone other than Darin be there for them.

All I can say is that I hope those who wish for a F/F romance do get that and have a character befitting to ITFO and does have an impact to the story and to a Lady Marshall.
