“Hunter: The Reckoning — The Beast of Glenkildove” is out now! Full moon. Cold night. Dark shadow. Warm gun

That is gr8 news

Additionally if your Faith stat is high enough (which is only possible if you’re of a religious vocation and pray/attend services at all opportunities) you can avoid it.

Also, Holy Relics edge from Society of Leopold confers immunity to domination

I normally do not go into Hunter: The Reckoning, but it was an interesting experience, seeing the characters grope in the dark, trying to puzzle and learn, when the one playing the game already has extensive knowledge of Cainites and Garou.

As said, the references to other World of Darkness games were a primary draw. In any case, my PC has reached the end of his foray into the deeper levels of the World of Darkness, having returned to his civilian life in academia. Considering what usually happens to Hunters, how they inevitably become more and more extreme, it is just as well.

A fine addition to the World of Darkness, though as a matter of principle, it is the last time that I will ever play as a Hunter, even if not one of the Imbued. It is back to playing the supernatural denizens of the World of Darkness from the other lines, as it has always been for me.

One thing I love about WOD games are the Easter eggs. Everytime I see any mention of shady politics, nature spaces, ghostly apparitions, wolves, unusually lucky people or very whimsical people my eyes widen and I go “OOO OOO I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE” even if its completely unrelated lol. Liking this book so far, 4 chapters in, i just wish the characters we meet got characterized a bit more before we had to decide if we liked them, but no complaints at all.

“Wow, thanks,” muttters Claudia. The Mulcahy twin ignores her.

typo here, mutters not muttters

Better to send this to support@choiceofgames.com to be sure it’s seen by someone who can fix it.

A couple things

  1. How can we trigger romances later in the game? Outside of the beginning ones and Aine saying she had a crush on you I’ve seen no reference to romance later with any of the female RO’s.

  2. Are there any options to improve the wolf heads inn? One of the bulletins is building a base of operations but I’ve seen nothing regarding one outside of the hunter epilogue

Also, are there any plans for DLC or story updates like the other world of darkness games? 11/10 would totally pay for updates and or cheats

There are romantic options that come up in dialogue, although they may be fairly subtle. It might be easier to initiate a romance with either Claudia or Kitty if you had started a romance with her in your teenage years, but I’m not sure about this.

It might be necessary to either start early romance or just have enough high relationship with RO.
I think i saw sth like “crush” when codediving and it was with high relationship but im not 100% sure.

So, has any planned DLC been announced?

I normally wouldn’t ask but I know the other major WoD properties have included significant DLC, with the possible exception of sins of the sires as I don’t remember any with that one.

You’re correct about Sins of the Sires. And technically, Out for Blood got a major update, not DLC. The other three have all had at least one DLC expansion.

No DLC has been announced for The Beast of Glenkildove at this time. That’s not to say it won’t ever happen, but I wouldn’t plan on it.

There’s another BoHN reference bear the end of the game. To trigger it you must…

Summary

join forces with Cormac and defeat Rory together, the other werewolves must be dead or have scattered and left the area and Claudia must survive. If you tick all these boxes Cormac will ask for your advice after the battle. You must tell him to seek out more of his kind in order to learn about his nature and how to control his rage. At this point Claudia will tell him to go to Northampton to meet with Nomi who will introduce him to some “people” who can help him.

I feel like the ending came really fast

Always a fan of htr, really love the story! But will there be updates in the future? Maybe a longer scene showing the characters’ life afterwards before the epilogue or something (such as MC’s romance life with RO), instead of just brief dialogues about it.

My honest review of *Hunter: The Reckoning is that I would rate it a solid 7. It started off great, but towards the middle, it became somewhat boring. There were too many meaningless stats that we didn’t need, and the ending was lackluster. What happened to the other wolves that were chasing after the van? They should have been included in the final fight. Additionally, not having the option to recruit all your allies for the final battle was disappointing. The ending ruined the replayability for me; if it had been better, I would have given the game an 8.
On a positive note, the story was enjoyable for the most part. If you’re into the mystery horror genre, I think many would love it. However, the price is too high, even on discount. Hopefully, they will lower the price, or you may want to purchase it during a sale, because in my opinion, the price doesn’t match what you’re getting in return.

Curious what other people’s thoughts are on having 3/5 Creeds being gated the way they are. Cause I personally thought it was a really odd choice for a WoD game to do something like that. Plus it kinda pigeon-holes entrepreneur and inquisitive creed stat-wise. But I haven’t really seen anyone else mention it, so I’m just starting to wonder if I’m the weird one on this.

I wonder this as well since the ending didn’t mention him at all

What are all the Edges/Advantages in this game? Perks or Power Ups you gain like Skyrim or Fallout.

Who’s Nicholas? Wasn’t too sure if this was a bug as I sped through this playthrough to try some achievements and might’ve missed something, but IIRC the only one who came to help in the final showdown Adam.
