@P_Tigras OH NO, MISCOMMUNICATION. I think people may have mixed up what I said in the comments with what’s said in game, or maybe I didn’t make it clear enough. Odilon never elopes. I said he had a boyfriend when the actual game starts, but that is years after the prologue (six, actually). What happened to Odilon is that he was disinherited.
The situation is like this: Odilon was the heir of the Prideux family, who are bankers and an important consul family. Odilon was set up to inherit his father’s seat, and his business. Odilon informed his father when he was 16 or 17 that he didn’t want to take over the Prideux family legacy, and instead wanted to be a painter. Because he’s an artistic genius, his family wasn’t TOO disappointed-- because he couldn’t be a professional artist and a banker (a good one, at least) they amicably disinherited him and named Odilon’s uncle as heir.
I thought that I’d explained that in the game, but obviously not very well. Or maybe things just got mixed up with my comments. Perhaps I should stop talking about spoilers in the forum D:
You’re right that marriages are not for love. I really want to explain the entire situation, but most of it goes into MAJOR SPOILING TERRITORY. The only minor explanation I can give you is just a tiny spoiler .___. Like I said, Odilon never elopes, he’s disinherited. On the other hand, Maelie DOES elope. It’s mentioned in the first chapter. She did it, not just because she was in love, but because she really didn’t want to be the wife of The Seat… among other spoilers. It’s hard to explain what happens without revealing major plot points. I’M SORRY, TIGRAS. I WANT TO TELL YOU SO BAD.
And I will, I will. I’ll get to it when I can D:
@EVERYONE WOW GUYS THANKS. You’re all super sweet <3 I feel bad for telling you that my birthday is tomorrow, but I’ll just pretend they’re all on the right date c;
I’m super excited to be eighteen, soon! I get to go to big kid jail, and buy cigarettes, go to casino’s and… yeah that’s basically it. STILL, FUN.
Gah lucky. I’ve been looking to my 18th for years and I’ve got to wait til October. HAPPY EARLY BDAY @potato
Round here you could also buy alcbocol. And marry, those two go well together.
Haha, Maelie looks like the type to elope. I like her more and more.
@Potato It’s your birthday week! Happy Birthday week! I posted early in case you didn’t get a chance to see it tomorrow what with being so busy with your birthday. And congrats on 18.
Happy birthday, @potato
happy birth day
@Potato
Happy birthday! No casinos for you here in Vegas though, you have to be 21 here
Now that it is officially Wednesday, Happy Birthday Jade! =D> :-bd \:D/ <:-P
@Potato I wouldn’t be suprised if I had mixed up what you said with what was in the game regarding Odilon’s background. I’ve only read through the Odilon text once while perusing the yukon , since I generally play male, and he’s encountered only by female protagonists.
As much as I love spoilers, I can respect your desire not to reveal any, especially publicly in the forum. I’m more concerned with why Maelie isn’t already betrothed to the protagonist (the way Odilon was before he became a painter), or why she isn’t otherwise being pushed on him harder by both her parents and his in the prologue.
I suppose it’s possible that the High Seat whose wife she will elope to avoid becoming is not the protagonist, but his father (if his mother dies before chapter 1), an even younger sibling, or some usurper, and that would be a huge spoiler, so I can see why you might dance around that. I’ve been working on the assumption however that it’s our protagonist who she will run away to avoid marrying. And that’s why I was finding the current very strong friendship between them without any talk of a potential betrothal and no ability to flirt with her, or at least make the attempt, somewhat puzzling.
Aaaayyyyy, Happy birthday! : )
Happy Birthday potato! c:
@potato I missed your birthday :’(
happy (very) belated birthday anyways
Sorry I’m late, but happy birthday all the same.
@everyone SERIOUSLY GUYS THANK YOU. So cute. A forum full of cuties.
My birthday was really nice! Now I have to work again. My tears could fill an ocean ;_;
I haven’t worked I’m the game for awhile because I’m super busy, like always. Sorry! Ily o.o
Kay, when I get home tonight I’ll start editing the game. That may take a day or two because I don’t have much time to spare. After that I can keep writing again! c:
