I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to because 1) Getting college stuff together, 2) Just wasn’t feeling it, you know? :I I’m like… a mood writer or something. I either write 5k words or 500. It’s a grab bag~ I’ve started to feel another mood coming on again, so next update will probably have more than this-- I’m almost done writing Maxence (your partner if you can’t dance), and after that I’ll write Anson’s and Ansleigh’s important convo and then Odilon’s and Maelie’s. Once they’re done, the cool shit can go down.
In other news, Dolphin edited the game so far! I haven’t updated it with her edits yet, but a grammatically correct version should be out by Wedneday. THANK YOU DOLPHIN ILY.
Some sad news: I was thinking of cutting out Odilon and then genderflipping Maelie. I love Odilon, and he was one of my favorite character’s in the novel that this game came from, but honestly? What Maelie has to say is somewhat more important at this moment, and I was thinking that Odilon’s piece of new should be kept off until the second chapter. So yeah. Don’t be surprised if he disappears.
Other than that, I hope you like Maelie, and that you find her information interesting! I’m probably going to edit her conversation to make it shorter soon, but she’s basically done. I work all next week, but I think I’ll be able to get quite a bit accomplished. BYEEE.

NOOOOO!!! Odilon is great. I really, really liked Odilon. However if that means we can meet him as a man then that’d be great. Trust your own instincts on this. If you think moving him works better do that, just don’t remove him completely.
Can you impart Maelie’s information if you’re not dancing?
@FairyGodfeather I KNOW, I KNOW I LOVE HIM. I don’t know how I’d fit him in, though. It was sort of a stretch to get him in this game in the first place. I was like ‘odiloooon, i want you here. with meeee.’
You’ll always have to dance. If you suck at dancing, you go and find you cousin who already knows you’re crap. He/She (Maxence) gives you different information than Maelie, who in turn gives you different information than the Fairchild’s.
Talking to different people in this game gives you different point of views. Also I plan on keeping track of what your character does and does not know, so that your dialogue changes in important scenes.
So… Nope c: Or, if you do, you’ll get that information from a different person, who may relate it to you in a different way.
Leave Odilon! He’s the best. Keep him in there. I demand it.
But you know, one of the problems with Odilon as he currently is, is that his story is actually interesting. It’s exciting. The idea that you’re betrothed to him, and then suddenly that betrothal is broken, and shouldn’t you wonder why, shouldn’t you investigate? Or if you’re not betrothed to him and are just his friend then it’s the same questions.
But we can’t actually get involved because it’s already happened in the past. For me, I’d love to actually experience it happening. I’d love to have that story as its own chapter, a chapter where Odilon can shine. I do like his story.
Aw, I wish I still had the writing from my novel. FREAKING COMPUTER FAILURES, ASDFLKJ. Odilon had one of my favorite character arcs, dude. He’s so complex and sad at times. In the original story, he wasn’t actually betrothed to the MC, but the MC’s sister Roseline (another character that it killed me to get rid of). It was a pretty depressing side story, ngl.
And I really do want to keep him! skldfj. Maybe I’ll rewrite some of his dialogue, change what he saw. I’ve already moved around so much stuff, what’s the harm?

Damn computer failures. I’d offer words of wisdom about always backing up, or perhaps uploading to dropbox, but the last time I did a back up was a year ago. I’ve lost work as well and I know the pain.
Do what seems best to you though. You have a great story with great characters whatever you decide.

@FairyGodfeather It was an old computer-- poor guy was on his last legs. For some reason it didn’t even occur to me to back shit up. I thought that I could deal with the crack for a bit, and then I’d dropbox everything when I got a new computer. BUT THAT DIDN’T WORK OUT…

@potato I don’t see a way to get to the Maelie conversation. The game keeps ending on me after I answer the question on whether or not my character can dance.

who its odi and rest you are talking? what you have to do to met that people? you has to choose met someone? i always choose met your father because protocol order first thing that the honored is meet the rulers. Not going to see your fathers first could be even in a real actual monarchies a scandal.
For instance, Spanish protocol when monarchy give a party in your honor its salute the royal family with the proper salute literal translation of Spanish name besamanos “kiss hands”.
Its the medieval name nowadays kiss royal hands sound weird,and don’t happen. but i have to recognise that kiss the cardinal and pope ring is frequent if you are really religious.
So for me not going salute my fathers the rulers of a empire in a setting based in first XIX its so weird. When they do a party to present MYSELF to the country and nobility . Its the best way to cause a BIG scandal and be consider a stupid princess political speaking.
I don’t care don’t meet that people because i have Anson. But i don’t know half or more characters because i do the proper thing so i want a reward stat boost or a text appraise for doing the correct.

@potato something like “a approval whisper full the hall and you felt you doing the correct saluting your fathers first, you are a princess you have to follow the protocol”. I lost half of characters for doing the correct i need a reward if not Im feel stupid for do what i must
@MaraJade Well, saluting your father first isn’t really the ‘correct’ thing to do. It would be perfectly okay for you to greet them later in the night. Everyone expects your parents to call you over to commence the birthday ceremony stuff after the dancing, so no one thinks you’re rude for talking to other people. Greeting your parents first is just über polite. If you like I can have them nod approvingly, but doing so wouldn’t actually affect anything. It just ups your Traditional stats, and I already had that in place.
You can go meet the rest of the characters if you want to, Mara, haha…
