I’m not sure how many exactly, because we just kept adding them all the time, but there’s an ending where you kill yourself, an ending where you get arrested, an ending where you join up with Alexander and Emilia to keep tracking the rest of the cultists, an ending where you are working for the cultist’s leader, an ending where you join them early in the game, an ending where you become some sort of serial cultist killer, an ending where you get killed by Calum Douglas in the woods, another ending where you kill yourself as the ultimate statement about free will when you realize there’s “someone” dictating your actions, feelings and thoughts… those are the ones I remember from the top of my head.
Thanks! Glad to know you liked it.
It was something I purposefully wanted to left unexplained for the most part. You get references from it across the game, and even a few dreams about it as well, and it’s something that “haunts” your character. so much that he just doesn’t want to think much about it There’s a brief interaction with Father Grant where you can question him about it/learn that he was associated with the people who owned the farm, if I recall correctly, and a few other hints across the game.
They never dated. I don’t remember if Emilia(the owner of the Sweet Revenge) is lesbian only or bisexual, but Kevin is a gay character. What gave you the impression they have dated before? It’s possible we misrepresented something. They are supposed to be very good friends, but that’s just it.
Oh, we normally just let the option to everyone, because it was easier to provide the player with all the possibilities instead of “locking” them into a specific path. Like, instead of just checking if someone is straight, gay, bisexual, genderfluid or whatever, we just let the player pick whatever he feels is the right choice for their character at any given moment. It could be that there was something weird happening in one of those instances, though.
Now, about romance: You can kiss a few people inside the Sweet Revenge, but you can only have sex with Emilia or Kevin, and I think both only happen if you follow a very specific set of choices. There’s no actual “longlasting romance” option, as it indeed was not the focus of the game. We advertised the whole “• Play as a male, female, gay or straight. The Abyssal Ones treat everyone just the same.” both as a joke and because we based or bullet points in the preset provided by the Hosted Games submission form. It might also serve as a nod to people that we try to be inclusive in our representation of different sexual orientations, but
That was Nerull’s original intention with the game: that people played it with a notebook around. I told him it would never happen, but it seems I was wrong.
I really like this as well. The small nods to previous interactions that the majority of players won’t see or recognize, but that are worth the world to those who do so. At least that’s how I feel about it, as a player.
And good luck trying to make the MC survive! I would guess it’s actually the most probable outcome of most gameplays, and it adds a few new scenes and game changing consequences.
