Trying to find that one itchio(?) game where you play as a dragon shifter and among the personalities you can choose is that youā€™re proud, neutral, and ashamed of being a dragon?

Ooh, really enjoyed playing that! Good, long chapters, and interesting premise and characters. Though the demo ends on a bit of a cliffhanger  Looking forward for the third chapter to be published.

Does anyone remember a WIP where you wake up in a cottage with a bunch of medical stuff attached to you? And the guy who saved you was also trying really hard to gaslight gatekeep girlboss or someting. He was super shady

looking for an IF, the MC is nobility (I believe) and has a younger sibling, in the demo the MC is still young, and their uncle visits the family a lot to discuss important business with MCā€™s father. one of the ROs is the uncleā€™s apprentice/charge (I remember him having blonde hair, and heā€™s the first RO introduced since he somewhat grows up with the MC). If anyone could help me find this IF thatā€™d be fantastic.

If I rwmwmbwr correctly, you are a mage who lost your magic in some big explosion of a magic stone? or something similar. I think you got a smaller verion of the same kind of stone embedded in your arm in an attwmpt to get your magic back. I also think you lived with an old woman that was hinted to be a creature or have powers.

I think this is it- Aesemyr: The Withering

Hello, Iā€™m trying to remember this WIP you play like a knight and your like the black sheep of the family who are royals who you work you have like an green orc male as your right hand and you also have a female knight who accompanies you because your teacher sent them you also save a female elf if I remember right from some bandits who was gonna sale her Towards the end

The game is set in a supernatural world and starts with you as highschooler(?) moving back home. When you return, youā€™re greeted by your butler who is an older gentleman which the mc notices is surprisingly strong for his age. As you enter the house you go to your room and eventually meet your mother, your father isnā€™t home at the moment since he is busy being a politician.

The ROs (who are supernatural, I canā€™t remember if they have abilities or are vamps/wws or mixed) are a group in the school that your mother has you introduced to and placed into. I believe there is a different POV scene when you run into two of them for the first time walking down a hallway before youā€™re properly introduced. Later in the game your friendā€™s momā€™s shop is broken into (I believe itā€™s a flower shop).

Writer here: I am doing my quarterly check in on the site and how all the projects I enjoy are doing. This might be a pleasant surprise, I donā€™t plan on making anything large about it but I am actually attending university again with the goal of refining my skills as a writer. I was really happy with the prologue but as I began actually writing dialogue I quickly found my weaknesses and I have been working to address them. I am going to be graduating, probably in early 2027. Iā€™ll be trying to pick up some projects during my summer breaks and such but I truly did find my passion thanks to Shengzhang

Thatā€™s great news! I fell I love with your prologue automatically, the idea of an immortal having to raise the child of a dear friend that has passed is something you that I remember pulling at my heartstrings and it still has an emotional impact on me now. Especially as I remember my immortal having a hard time noticing the passing of time, which added extra layers into the heartbreak. Iā€™m glad that you havenā€™t completed abandoned it and will possibly work on it in the future.
I have to say though I did drop off because of all the polls you kept on posting in the forum, it really gave the impression that you as the author didnā€™t know where the story was going and it seemed that you were going to change the whole premise, specifically when you put the polls in asking how old the child would be (to be fair it would be okay if it started off as then as a young baby and then time skips being implemented until the child is the right age for the rest of the plot to progress, whatever that was going to be) and the one where you asked if it would be okay to minimise the role of the immortal/child relationship which to me was the whole point and got me emotionally attached to your work.

Ahh yeah, the problem for me was that [at least at that time] I felt really overwhelmed with both wanting to tell the story in a way that felt ā€˜authenticā€™ but also not really knowing how to approach writing children.

Going into more detail [didn't want to eat up so much space]

While I really enjoy this format, I think there is also a lot of pressure here just because the draft you share is how people form their perceptions of your work. Since I do not have experience writing children, or extended narratives in general, I naturally will be weak at itā€¦ It felt like I wouldnā€™t be able to tell that story in a way that I would be happy with, anyway me questioning myself so much is part of why I wanted to bench the narrative for the time being. [Part of what really fed into that pressure for me was my own gripes and frustrations with many ways in which children are approached in other media I have read, I really wanted to do better, hence feeling so strongly it needed to be ā€˜authenticā€™.]

The big thing I wanted to work on though was narrative structure and aforementioned dialogue, a big focus for making Shengzhang work. [Speaking of, revisiting the concept I am imagining a ton of cute scenes. Iā€™m keeping a list of them, I donā€™t want to rely on spur of the moment passion though.] I think the thing I am still internally settled on is the Immortal having a key event encapsulating each year with the little one, so a few scenes of their contemplation and learning. I remember there were plans of a chapter on the baby getting sick for the first time, of them being a toddler and learning how to lie, etc.

I think I also just need to let go of my hyper-fixation of historical accuracy in a literal fantasy novel, just take more liberal inspirations and use less of the direct terms to make things more accessible for everyone. [More importantly, just to remove a lot of weight so I can just focus on making the story rather than being worried about which individual details would be ā€˜accurateā€™ when again, literal fantasy. I wasnā€™t willing to believe my own disclaimer.] Anyway, this isnā€™t particularly relevant but I just felt like sharing I guess haha. I am working on a little very low pressure story just to dip my toes back into creative work while in university, Iā€™m not sharing it until itā€™s finished though [if it ends up finished I suppose].
