Lol the Luke/Leia moment awkward! Do it! Plot twists are good!
Not that kind of plot twistâŠ
Ah! Didnât even know there was an FAQ oddly enough
It has been added at the beginning of the game recently
What is this talk about Troy and MC being related?
Hell no, I donât want even something close resembling incest in my romance! And by the way if he was a friend of the family shouldnât MC at least know him? Or are we doing something like childhoodfriends grown apart, you know the whole clichĂ© complete with never fullfilled promises?
Because I actually like my MC without contacts in anyway to their old family, or life. Could MC just go to other people instead their family, would somehow cheapen the bond between Crow and MC, after all they became the surrogate family for MC. How lame would it be should tragic MC always had someone else to take them in, or caring for them. Crow adopting MC seems in that case much more like kidnapping. âŠ
You know it would be nice to have a black and purple colour scheme for our suitâŠ
You know kinda like the darkness from the game the darkness. Fits if you have darkness powers.
@Wraith Bug spotted!
Chapter1 line 2840: increasing indent not allowed, expecting 20 was 24
The only thing this page says is âThe less people you need to look out for, the less problems you will have later on. You collect raw energy in your hand,â
Thatâs exactly what i thought about shadow power first, Blaze XD
Oh and something I forgot about the friend plotline: Wouldnât that be too similar to Neroâs role? After all he already is the best friend of MC in story. And we are already wondering and speculating how much MCs death devasted him, so shouldnât it be him who already fills the spot of the guy who probablly also blames MCs death at least partly to Crow (the other parts are blaming himself).
As much as I like Troy, upgrading his role to an even higher importance for the plot, beside him just being MCâs replacement and being suspicious of MC, seems like too much? Especially if the ways the plot for him gets changed takes from the uniquness of relationships with other NPCs. Because I like those NPCs, too, and their part of the story should be integrated in the story strong enough, too.
He could just be the kid of a family friend you only met once or never met at all.
You would just know his father/mother and even consider that person to an uncle/aunt, but only vaguely be aware he/she even has a son.
Troy would know about you and your name only from his fatherâs stories and Crow.
Okay, but thatâs pretty much the same he can know about MC from Crow. Why adding a superfluous plotline in the mix? What do we win for the story in the case. Meeting someone only once is in so many cases the same like meeting someone never. So why do we need that expandation of Troys story? Why should his story be centered around MC? Isnât it more organic if he just came in the mix because of his own story?
I only made the suggestion (that isnât necessarily happening) for one scenario. His father/mother could have also been a family friend who never mentioned his kid at all.
To make it more interesting for some people? I think thatâs why someone even suggested this plot point at all. Itâs not needed, but if the writer thinks itâs doable and has potential then why not add it in.
Meeting someone once and never meeting them isnât quite the same as there is always the possibility of remembering someone if you meet them. A habit, a smell, or phrase could trigger a memory.
Even if he is connected to the MC in some way doesnât mean he that he canât come into the story despite the connection to the MC and for his own reasons that have nothing to do with the MC.
In any case, Iâm not the writer, so donât take that example scenario so seriously. Wraith would probably come up with something more probable that might satisfy you.
(If you read this in your head, my voice should be slightly monotone and quite calm. The internet doesnât translate tone of âvoiceâ well.)
I know that this was just one example. But my problem mostly is that I donât see how some random guy suddenly having a connection to MC would make the story anymore interesting, besides letting the world seem very MC-centric, what for some people actually destroys some of their suspension of disbelief. Not to forget that missing family-member/friend/acquaintance is a very stereotype plotline.
And where some say it would give his character deepth, I actually feel like the contrary would be true. We got told that troy is the kind of guy that looks out for everyone, even for MC, even for someone he doesnât know. Thatâs part of the characterisation we were given. Should in the end he have a connection to MC and were suspicious of their identity, what does that mean for this characterisation? Wouldnât that cast a shadow on his earlier characterization, even only in the minds of the reader, depending on since when he had his suspicious and if we even get to know about that moment?
Personally I donât think such a twist would give us much more for his character, or the plot, it seems like a twist for the sake of a twist.
And I know that you are not the writer, but right now as things are that point about Troyâs background stands to discussion. (and btw. I read most peopleâs words on the internet in a deadpan voice, including my own words.)
I agree with pretty much everything @Sammysam said.
Also, for the âTroy getting close to Crow in order to get revenge for what happened to the MCâ theory, even if he were a friend of the family, how in the world was he supposed to know that the MC was Blackbird and got killed while working with Crow? Itâs not like the MC would ever tell someone outside of the whole hero community (and probably not a whole lot of people who were part of it) about their real identity. And even if Troy knew that the MC had been taken in by Nathaniel the only thing he would know is that the MC eventually disappeared. They might just have ran away for all they know (especially if the MC ended up meeting Crow by running away from home in the first place).
Your point is valid and should be taken into consideration. I do not plan on persuading you otherwise. Lots of people think it would be interesting, but if you donât think so then nothing can be done about that.
If the Wraith does put this plot point in, I hope it satisfies you. If she doesnât put this plot point in then oh well.
That aside, @Wraith are starting the weapon options the same for all paths or will there be minor differences? I donât think heroes normally use guns and katanas. Then again I donât really read comic books.
I feel that would be very large coding wise. Wouldnât that mean that youâd have the three separate paths of hero, villain, and anti-hero and then each path has its own differing path depending on the weapon?
I think just minor differences should be it.
I donât want the story to revolve around Troy anymore than it already does.
How would making him a family friend that we never met add anything to the story?
The theory about him joining Crow to get revenge makes no sense, we never met him, how could he possibly know we were Blackbird?
On that thought⊠Are there going to be more weapon choices? (not just consigned to the different paths) If not, itâs not a big deal, just wondered because during one of the first updates there were a lot more weapons then there are now. Definitely one of my favorite WIPs⊠And some of the most âlivelyâ posts I have ever seen.
@Wraith That would make Troy the biggest creeper if he was part of MCâs family or knew MC before.
No person in their right mind sees someone in passing ( because MC doesnât recognize him) and decided they literally want to be them and take over their life. It would be like a Lifetime movie. Troy probably planned our death so he could become us. He would probably be into incest because he would be a psychopath.
I canât imagine my parents, siblings or friends taking my name, clothing, job , home and everything after I died and becoming me.
Troy wouldnât be getting revenge because Crow did nothing wrong and my MC doesnât apreciate their life being stolen.
On another note, I want to be able to drive Troy away from Crow so Crow is safe (and there Can be only one blackbird) in the hero path. I also want to tell Crow I donât blame them for anything and I want Crow to tell Glammour and Nero that I donât blame them. I canât do it myself because I canât reveal my new secret identity and everyone thinks Iâm out of the super business.
I would make my villain somewhat unhinged, due to the fact that they were experimented on reanimated after being dead for five years and you know âheroâ has left them for dead and taking up a new sidekick with the same alias so⊠yeahhhh, that can do a lot to a child
