I generally never look for hidden meanings in games always tends to detract from what’s been happening in the game.but he’s right the combination of your humor and writing has made this a game I can’t wait to see
How big is the game right now?
When do you think this will be coming to CoG, or HG? I need it now! This was an amazing game and most likely my favorite yet! This game was superb and when it comes out, I can’t wait to buy it.
@Razgriz Thanks Raz, and good luck on your Choice of Forum! Over 1,000 posts in a week is crazy! The sheer number of characters seem overwhelming, my only piece of advice is to make sure you don’t try to please everyone! It is unfortunately impossible. (Especially this bunch )
I blame highschool when it comes to hidden meanings and symbolism. That stuff is wonderful when it comes out naturally to the reader, but book report after book report just kills the impression the author was trying to give. At least I think so.
@Aznxa Please check my previous replies for game length!
@xNaomi Fatehaven will be coming out around August 8th. Thank you for the praise!
I love how Raz has become my universal nickname with just about everyone xD and thanks. In a day and a half I had to stop bringing people in but this isn’t my thread, it’s yours. If the rest is like the beginning it’ll reach my top five favorite games
@Razgriz we could always nickname you Billy…though raz seems better lol
Wait, Fatehaven is coming out in about 2 weeks? :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
My body is ready.
Great story. I really like the humor. A stylistic suggestion: maybe make the chapter heading text bold.
Okay, so I just read through this, and I have to say, I like it! Your writing is really good and I enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor. However, there seems to be far too large of gaps between choices, and it gets very confusing at times because there aren’t any quotation marks around my dialogue. Like I never know if I’m speaking or thinking, and when others respond to me, it’s like they read my kind because I didn’t even know I said anything.
And, my corruption keeps going up without explanation; I’m portrayed as a sadist without having made any choices to reflect that. It’s also a bit jarring for my MC to say that he likes shooting animals and he thinks lowly of druids as a default. I think those should be decided upon by choices.
*read my mind
It’s quite refreshing to see such a excellent game come out so quickly. At least by my standards
@Samuel_H_Young
The MC does a lot of thinking, so I can definitely understand the confusion there. There are times where I might write “You don’t think it’s a good idea, and you say as much.” and then proceed to Brigid’s response, for example. I do this occassionally because often times it’s smoother and less dull then a “You said, She said, You replied” exchange. It requires more attention but I think it’s worth it.
As far as the “gaps” go, I prefer to call it “narrative” . In all seriousness though, I know what you mean. It is important to keep in mind that Fatehaven is more of a personalized story then a traditional gamebook, so it might be a matter of personal preference.
I’ve answered the corruption question a few times before, but you bring up a very good point about the MC. He/She is fine with hunting animals and thinks druids are essentially good-for-nothing hippies. MC has a personality of his/her own, and it leaks out between choices all the time. This may feel alienating to some, but there is a reason.
I stress again that Fatehaven is a story, and I had no intention of making a bland protagonist. I think writing for a Bella Swan-type character would kill me! In so many choose-your-own-adventure games the MC is the least interesting character in the story, unable to have a distinct personality like his/her supporting cast. I realize people like as much control over the protagonist as possible, but I choose to balance that control for flavor which I think makes for a more meaningful character.
I think in an ideal story of infinite wordcount, the player could fine-tune large aspects of the MC’s personality and have that particular flavor shown in each thought he/she thinks and each dialogue he/she speaks. Having your protagonist react and feel just as you would to a situation has got to make for a great immerging experience.
@undead
My secret is that I don’t post it to the forums until I’m nearly done with it already. :)>-
Please. Make it a habit
The stats are so simple 0.0 Simply love the theme. Great game
I love the length of the word on each page not too long and not too short. Choices comes often. And humor is well placed ^_^. Smooth. Any issues have already been stated in previous pages so I won’t bother with them.
Quite well thought out I can see that. I can only wonder how many sleepless nights you’ve had over this game.
@undead
Agreed~
Theres nothing worse than having to wait for a year or 2 until that one WIP finally comes out.
not really some games are worth the wait a good example would be Tin Star.
I agree, but that doesnt make the waiting any easier :B
Also just 5 more days!
Ahhh a game thats 95 %?! I,cant wait!
Can’t wait for this to come out!
5 days till launch (supposedly) preparing to hunker down for a four hour ride of sheer epicosity.
