Will zip and send ling on pm
Thanks very, very much Lordirish.
I’ll show this to the team.
Google is giving me a fit thought it was a problem but it was not force refreshing. Tested on Foxfire and IE and works fine. trying to see if clearing my history helps but will zip here once I know google accepts it.
That fixed it lol.
One final note on the system I do not have it to set to jump months, (if you go *set months +# it will not change the year date), as I did not for see a need for it in my own game. I can write the code in if you all need it to just jump months.
Sure, but not yet. We’re in the final stages of conceptualisation.
Timeline, characters, plot.
We plan to start writing next week. It’s a massive/epic story, so the lore/details really need to be fleshed out. We also plan to do future games in the same world. But of course, this one needs to be successful first.
But I digress, we’ll make use of your coding, definitely.
Really thank you! You’ve been helping us out a lot.
We are not worthy! Hahahaha…
Yes you are lol.I am just happy to help.
I should have join on your team but been at my project far to long now to jump ship
No worries, maybe in future games.
Will look forward to it.
Most definitely will consider.
Speaking of which need to get back to my project only completed half of what I planned tonight, kinda loafing. It is what happens when you’re your own Overlord
Yeah, working solo has its advantages. But so does working in teams.
Working in teams allow you to have different ideas that you might not come up with yourself.
If you’re having troubles with your concepts, maybe try doing something like this. Like posting a thread and asking others.
But what the heck, why am I teaching the legend? Hahahaha…
lol I have 20+ years of world building so I am good for ideas. Just a very very slow coder. If it was not for @CJW and @CitizenShawn I would still be in the dark on how to make what I want happen. Of course I am always pushing the boundaries of what you can do in CS. But I finally have a the opening done, and all the fancy stuff I was aiming for just have to fit all the pieces together now lol.
Actually, we need ideas. Can I PM you the details? Are you free right now?
Always happy to swap ideas pm away.
Do you have google hangout? I get so many pm’s it is hard find to messages sometimes, if not no big deal can deal with pm
We have Skype. That’s how we communicate mostly.
Thank you very much for your suggestion. We’ll go with it!
So Homino Hominem Ornitia was it? That’s the name you want to go with?
Can we go with just Homino for short when referencing you? Though in the official documents it will be the full name.
Also what’s your motto in life? Like favourite saying.
Sure! I chose that name to imply that this sage is weird and whimsical
Motto? Ooh that’s a hard one…
Well, just to be in character:
“Water is good. Water is healthy. Drink plenty of water. It helps you stay alive. staying alive is good sometimes. Water.”
Hi, sorry if this has been mentioned before but you mentioned that your story takes place on a world that is larger than the Earth?
Might have been a throwaway point, but that wouldn’t necessary impact the length of your planet’s years, or even necessarily it’s days.
In fact it would cause more problems than it would solve, scientifically speaking.
The length of a year and its composite months is derived from the speed of a planet’s rotation and it’s travel time around it’s parent star, and size doesn’t play a huge part in that process. Mercury has a year that is 88 days long, but that’s not because it’s small but because it’s close-by to the Sun.
In order for your planet to have a longer year, it would need to be slightly further away, and the star itself would need to be a little warmer than ours to make up the difference in temperature. I’m sure you don’t want to set your story on a planet where all the oxygen has frozen to the ground…
Also, if your planet is larger, then its gravity is more intense, crushing it’s life-forms until they shrink. Humans wouldn’t do well in higher gravity, to adapt they would get shorter and more muscular. Of course beyond a point they would simply go squelch, so the planet can’t be too big.
To reduce the gravity, you need one of two things:
One: A lighter planet, one with fewer heavy metals in it’s mantle and core. This is a problem because too light and the atmosphere just floats away, so balance in all things.
Two: A hypothetical gravity-neutral or anti-gravity element seeded through the mantle and core to off-set the weight. The problem here is that such an element violates the laws of physics as we understand them. That’s less of a problem in Fantasy stories, but there you are.
Sorry, couldn’t help but weigh in, if you see my own thread you’ll get a sense of that…
Whoopsie-oopsie?
Thank you very much for this very detailed explanation.
But yes, it’s a fantasy story (Steampunk really with a mix of fantasy) and we do have explanation for it. And it’s a bit of a spoiler.
But to answer your question without spoiling too much, we do have an anti-gravity element and there’s a force in the world of Atlas that violates the laws of physics.
I’m not going to tell you what exactly, but I’ll show you the rough draft of the world map. You would probably discern what I’m talking about by looking at it. @Lordirish is designing the actual maps for the game.
Thank you very much again and is it possible to ask you things like this in the future? Of the scientific nature?
Absolutely. I love me some science questions, hit me.
