Here, this tread had info on the Drop box take down and how to fix
I’m still getting the Dropbox
Should hopefully be fixed by now? I tried the edit index file fix, and now it works for me at least. Lemme know if there are more problems.
That fixed the silly Dropbox issue. Thanks.
So I played the game and am really digging the story. The only thing that seemed a little odd was I selected the middle option at the cafe when Ortega asks if you still had them. The one where you say you have them but they’re diminished. Yet afterwards everyone acted as thought I lost them.
It would be nice to say that the tragedy of everything surrounding 10 years ago lessened or impaired your abilities instead of I don’t have them or I have them.
Overall though I am really digging the game, I am seeing lots of subtle plot lines being hunted at and a massive backstory that is just beautiful. Again I am really looking forward to seeing more.
So far this is really well put together and I’m looking forward to the final product.
As for criticisms, I felt that when going into the choices on how to construct my cover story were a bit confusing and restrictive. I feel like there should be more options, and the options should be better explained. Also typos, lots of typos; especially when dealing with the gender of a person. Should probably fix that.
A suggestion for future choices, and this is more personal preference than anything, but I like for my character to have room to develop. For him to change over time instead of having the personality I made at the start be the same throughout. Especially for romance; for my character, I feel like he would shy away from romance at first but then warm up to it later on. A way to make this work would to have multiple chances to initiate the romance or have other characters adapt to you doing things that you previously wouldn’t do and treating you differently for good or bad.
I’m really looking forward to this story. It seems really interesting and I love being a bodysnatcher. Great concept and great characters.
I enjoyed this very much and find it one of the best i’ve read.
Took the liberty of editing out your questions on release date from your otherwise terrific comment, per the forum FAQ rules:
“Don’t keep asking when a game will be released. Usually the author doesn’t know.”
(To be clear in the wording, we should really change “keep asking” to “ask” period, as that’s the way the rule’s always been understood.)
Sorry, new to this website. Didn’t know that rule.
Hope the rest of it was helpful, though
but what about asking how is progress going ?
asking when its is complete (essentially date, month, week,) is different than asking how is the progress on game going (Alpha,Beta, game is coming good so far im going to search for betatesters next week) i think rules shouldnt prohibit asking how is the work going. what THEY SHOULD PROHIBIT is asking as in when.
Basically, Caesar, the rule is there to stop authors getting demoralised by being constantly asked about progress on their game. Being asked creates a forum atmosphere of pressure-to-deliver rather than encouragement and useful feedback.
So I’m afraid your example is no less problematic – the “How” and the “When” feel pretty much the same to a struggling author. Most of the time they’ll be nowhere near one of the major tipping points you mention; most of the time, the answer would be something more like, “Still working on the same effing scene that I was a fortnight ago.”
Let authors volunteer information about their progress when they want to. Don’t ask.
“Let authors volunteer information about their progress when they want to. Don’t ask.”
Long Version
I get you, but i think we need to find middle line. i get how annoing it can be for author to be asked “will it be done yet ?” constantly, but it can be also a annoing for user who thinks that game does looks good, but he would like to ask if he can for example expect to have game ready during summer break, I think what would propably help is adopting video games release dates, essentially, putting game will be relased somewhere during 2015. then update it when with for example Q4 2015 when you are more close, or simply use 1 Chapter done etc, point is I GET that its annoing for author, but it also anoying for user who doesnt know if the game is abadonned or not, because in case it is abadoned, its often frustrating for users, to get excited for something, and then find out that its abadonned, so if instead of having it natural way, you want to have rules on that then i propose that if author didnt responded for 6 weeks then the people ask, and if author in past 4 months, didnt state how is the game progresing the user can ask. Point im making is that for developers its annoing that people are asking, but so is Dont knowing if exciting project is abadonned, or not. for users, i think there must be some middle golden way so everyone is satisfied, instead of USA-capitalism style of Author-User relations, (Author will not be questioned on release date, Author wont be questioned on his ideas, Author wont be questioned if he fixed the bugs, Author wont be questioned by user at all,) i know this is going to come as entitled no matter that it wasnt my intention, but i belive that if you are going to make development public, etc then its unpolite to simply leave interested people in the dark. i really think we should act more like friendly community of people, instead of b,“Author can yell at you and call you names and Simply stopping to Updating for 2 Years and then relasing you and you cant critise him, because if you dont like it dont buy it attitude”
Short Version
IMHO: Authors AND USER are people, IT seems STUPID to me to give benefit of Emphathy and Understanding to Author claiming that he is Human(and he shouldnt be constantly bothered by people asking for Date, )and deny user same right.
@CaesarCzech
To be honest, I believe it is better to just avoid this whole subject.
If a game is taking too long to be updated, it doesn’t mean that the author gave up on it, some people like to take their time and do things slowly. Sometimes it takes years to get something done.
I thought about giving release dates and milestones when I started writing my first game here, but then I remembered that when I did that with unity games, I ended up forcing myself to rush the game and respect the deadlines, which usually results in a low quality final product.
You can question the author on their ideas, on bugs, indeed on most stuff. And if an author yells at you and calls you names, the mods will tell the author to calm down.
There are a lot more users than authors on the forums, and the rules will continue to respect the need for authors not to get swamped by users who all want to know if they’ll have the game by summer break.
If you want to keep arguing about it, please take it to a new thread, not Malin Ryden’s.
this is awsome

or blow up in your face at some point, that might even be better
@Interestedparty Thank you so much! Some comments on your comments:
Yeah, I try to do the pronoun hunting, but there’s always ones slipping through. Same with spelling and grammar. But, with the game still being in development, I have not put it through any beta testers. Once it’s getting closer to its final form I will worry about that, as it is it just steals mote time since I keep going back and changing things.
As for choices, your preferences are the same as mine. There will be room for the MC to develop, and just because you said one thing at one point doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind later. So yeah, we are of the same mind there.
@Logan_Chessar Thank you so much!
@Havenstone Thank you for your diligence
. It is apprechiated.
@CaesarCzech Sadly I can give no eta on when this will be ready.
@Ausar Thank you! I am smiling so hard right now.
@Jeffery_Sparks Oh how I wish I could spoil things for you, but I won’t. evil grin
@redhead222 I can assure you that things WILL blow up in your face. Sooner or later.
Also, The game has been updated finally!
But I don’t seem to be able to edit my original post anymore, anybody know what is up with that?
