Fallen Hero: Retribution release thread! (Book Two) (Spoilers Inside!)

This ending is honestly super cute. It’s a lot less painful compared to the other endings. When I did this, both Argent and Steel are aware that my Sidestep’s the villain, which makes it even better lol. Ortega was completely in the dark. Also, happy birthday!

Well, after finishing the game, imma be honest.

I had no idea that the WIP Demo was so close to the end. I admit to feeling a bit confused and surprised when I read the word “Epilogue” so soon after meeting with Hollow Ground, which was where the Demo left us off

I mean, she almost ripped MC’s eye out in my very first ending, so the only thing she will get from now on is punches and kicks.

(Ortega still being the love of his life though)

Yeah, I was kind of expecting another fight with the rangers or one with the guardians (?) but I think the additional scenes that were added early like planting that bug on Jake/umbral’s gf, the interview with Mia, the fight with blaze etc etc were really nice and improved the pacing. The demo felt rushed sometimes

Originally the game was going to be longer but the Author eventually made the decision to cut book 2 off short of what was originally planned and do 4 books instead of 3.

Bruh. I just finished my first run and read the summary of the thread so far.

I must’ve played a different game or some shit cause y’all got way more content than me.

  1. Who dafuq is Ace?
  2. Why do I keep getting trapped in my puppets body and not Sidesteps?
  3. How do you tell Ortega you’re a Re-Gene? How do you tell her about the Farm?
  4. Wtf are gates? Do they make you stronger? Sidestep == Might Gai?
  5. How are y’all getting endings in prison/at people’s houses? My ass is always in my lair/hospital?

I still played the public demo and felt thrilled. I mean, the last part of the book carries 80% of the plot. The first and middle part seems like bonding with the rangers and building Sidestep’s harem. :joy: I couldn’t see the reveal coming. I was shocked after Sidestep got exposed and damn, it felt like game over. But the various endings are really worth it. Especially something sinister brewing up.
I felt like the ending where Sidestep got exposed and interrogated by the rangers was not well received because the rangers were hard on Sidestep. But really, I think it’s good writing. Or maybe I can handle the angst. Especially, Ortega’s reaction. He even thought Sidestep was a fake. I couldn’t believe it. I felt sorry for Ortega at the same time although my Sidestep was relentless in her sarcastic replies.
The most interesting ending is when Sidestep body gets up on their own no doubt.

I also got ripped many times because I really love to tease Argent despite the danger she poses.

I decided to give her the regenerator and she stopped permanently damaging my eye in subsequent runs.

I will pamper her in the next run though.

  1. The original identity of your puppet. You learn this by having them scout the auction, then asking the Doc to look into their relationship with Shroud.

  2. There’s a puppet comfort variable. The more comfortable you are, the more likely you’ll end up in its body. Less comfortable, the more likely you’ll be in yours.

  3. Be in your body.

  4. Special events that can occur that puts the MC under extreme mental stress, worsening their trauma and possibly augmenting their abilities as well.

  5. See #3

You’re a real one. Thanks fam.

Also, who’s Shroud?

Have your puppet go to the auction and all shall be revealed

Play again and send the puppet to the auction to scout it, then have Mortum research the person you run into

Ace is the puppet’s old name before they became comatose

You ended up in the puppet body because you were comfortable there. There is a guide on post #3, to a stat called PCV if you want to read it. But basically, when the game asks you how you feel about the puppet, say you don’t like it or they are just a mask. Then at the end, punch the mirror with the puppet’s face on it to be extra sure. You should wake up as MC

To tell Ortega about being a Regene, send the puppet to Hollow Ground and have low PCV so you end up in MC body. Go visit in the hospital and tell them you have something to confess. This will lead to the ReGene conversation with Ortega. Farm convo is included.

Gates are something that happens when you get exhausted or mess up somehow. There’s a guide in post #3, some of the requirements are really complicated. They aren’t necessarily a good thing imo.
edit: oops, the guide is not on post 3. Here it is

To end up in someone’s house, you have to send Sidestep to visit HG but have VERY low suspicion. You will want to follow a guide, post #3 again  You also need low PCV so you stay as MC, not the puppet.

Thanks Fam.

And I know Gates aren’t really a good thing.

But I’m only making one “evil” run. So I’m trying to figure out how to get the most Batshit crazy Sidestep. These gates are definitely gonna be helpful in my Heartbreak 2.0 run.

Also, I was thinking about some of the world-building. And realized there is a funny implication to telepathy. Because of the way it works, hoping between bodies implies that the body is merely a container and that you are just a metaphysical entity, which implies that souls are real.
This leads me to another thing that I now realized, that this is a timeline where Soviet Onion never fell, which means that Proletkultists are still around and definitely dabbling down on their ideas of creating perfect super human beings and creating God. Essentially being turbo Farm on steroids and basically, I now want a game set in the Soviet Onion once this series is finished. It would amazing.

Yeah that must explain it

I don’t like to criticize a book that i consider the primary reason why i use CoG, but i have to say that after finishing the book i was left… underwhelmed.
Not because the book was bad or boring, on the contrary, but after waiting 4 years it just left me kinda…stunned (?) that the new actual content outside of the demo wasn’t as much as i had expected.

But i repeat, the game was good. I probably just condemned myself by playing the demo repeatedly in the past and sucking the surprise and novelty out of my experience

you can find her if before attacking the casino send the puppet to scout the place

This is how I felt after my first run :joy: Especially the Ace bit.

Just gotta run some more and look at different paths and maybe look at some of the guides here.

Well you forcefully take over her body, steal the regenerator which she arguably needs more than you, then say dumb stuff like it wasn’t personal or maybe you don’t care, then cry about how you’re the victim. They’re lucky it’s just an eye.

Argent treats you differently if you romanced her though, especially after the auction part.

…then again, I never not unmask sidestep there, soooo. She probably the only character that has at least 85% rate in relationship bar whereas others are just around 60-70%

I do wonder if she treats sidestep differently if sidestep is someone who racking up kills tho’.

Yeah I know, also you can have a platonic relationship with her and she still won’t take your eye out if you have a good relationship.

My Sidestep was a killer when I romanced her and she just asked them to stop lol. Said yes immediately.

I just stole the regenerator before the auction started so I don’t think she has a good reason to think it was the villain? It could be anyone (I’m not sure, haven’t checked the code for the auction)

Plus I don’t remember acting like I was sorry for what happened or playing the victim. I wasn’t flirting with her as the villain or being friendly as MC so I guess she had no reason to hold back

Maybe. But it will stop me from being petty about it? Absolutely not
