I think it has to do with how often and how comfortable you are in the puppet body. They talk about it from time to time in the newer thread, but those two things seem to be the major factors.
It’s based on a hidden stat measuring how comfortable you are using the puppet’s body. You can adjust it by picking options saying you dislike being using the puppet, feel bad about it, wish you could do everything in your real body, etc. You’re also more likely to end up in the puppet if you chose your current self as your own rival.
The chapter before you get stuck in either body has a lot of choices that change the hidden stat in case you want to change it.
The one surefire way to make sure you do not get stuck I the puppet is going to HG’s meeting as the puppet, and abandoning the puppet during the car ride back. If you do that, previous comfort values don’t matter.
May I ask how to abandon the puppet during the car ride because I don’t see any choices about this? Or maybe I skip something.
But anyway thank you all for the response I think I’m going to replay this game again until I solve this
During Rebirth, do you take choices like “I like being without my telepathy” “My employer wants the best” or “This feels weird, like the body on the floor belongs to someone else”
Well, all those kinds of options increase puppet individuality. It’s the only puppet stat available in Rebirth without counting relationships. And if you have I think over 50 puppet individuality on the car with Ortega your doll throws a hissy fit crying over how horrible and dangerous their boss is and crashes the car on their own, also immediately exposing themselves as criminals.
No, it was an empty body, name or no.
I will go as my puppet, she is expendable
No regrets, she was already a dead woman walking.
The face in the mirror is [puppet name].
Options that say that you don’t care much about the puppet and only treat them as a tool. Always works.
Ah I see now where my mistake lies, I think I choose a lot of choices about how comfortable my mc in the puppet body. That’s why they always ends up in the puppet body.
Thank you guys for bringing the light to my mistake
Man, was checking out the various endings and a simple dialogue option in one of them left me reeling.
Longstory short, in the reveal to Ortega in her house there’s an option to smack her around because some Sidesteps including mine truly deserve to get fucked, and the outcome is so well written that Ortega’s reaction and Sidestep trying to play victim to himself would be fucked enough, but then later on Ortega brings it up again to kindly ask the asshole to not do that gain 'cause it turns out her dad was abusive and that shit remined her of things and it’s just
Shit’s fucked. Glad, in a way, i got to learn something more about one of those incredibly multi-layered characters, but not gonna lie starting to wish that in the sequel Ortega just gets stolen away by a Captain America-like chad, love and respect his only weapons.
So…you want Ortega to be romanced by someone else and it goes fade to black?
Isn’t that just Herald though?
Eh, bit of hyperbole. Loving the angst. Wo/man really got some taste and deserves better tho. At least than my sewer dweller hobo mass murderer
it is not the sewer…just saying.
Give me some credit here, i did think about it in the 30 seconds it took me to think that up. Needs to be a good person but slso strong enough to kick sidestep’s ass, which herald
Maybe with the training with Step and a better understanding of his powers, he can manage it? Hopefully. I still want to have a good fight with Herald before the end of the series.
well it’s 4.50am and i just finished the game oh my god
DR. MORTUM HOW COULD YOU YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE
is there a way to change that outcome? I went to meet HG as myself, got caught by Ortega and got broken out by Sky-Raider just to get dragged back to
that traitors Dr. Mortums lab where the puppets makin’ coffee
Does anyone know
How to get Angie to take your eye? i wont lie… im on a bit of a sadist streak and i want to see Ortegas reaction to that especially since i plan on replaying and romancing him this playthrough
there are more than one outcome to the game yes. Althought, the route with Dr.Mortum will be covered in the sequel.
Same. Not that I’d let him win in the end, but at least he can provide some fun before the final. My Villainstep likes challenges.
and then she attacked me and I kicked her into the water.
It was damn satisfying (I never checked this version before because I usually play killer). When you piss off Argent, she will start taking you seriously instead of looking for a fight just for sport. She has this strange, slightly naive attitude towards the new villain…
… even if villain is a mass murderer. She’s disappointed when MC does something that is not a fair fight or hurts / kills civilians Woman, why are you surprised when villain behaves wickedly? Do you think they’re hero in disguise? (well, maybe some Sidesteps are, but not mine).
Easy. Don’t reveal at the auction, get outted after crashing as Step (assuming you’re still in Step), and then deny possessing her or say it doesn’t matter. (Note: if your motivation is justice, then it might calm her enough that she only claws your face)
Also, do not give her the device she wants either.
Making her kill a civilian at the bridge / using a bystander as a shield and not releasing them when she asks you to / stealing the regenerator from her also works
You also can’t be flirting with her if you choose to deny the possession or tell her that it doesn’t matter (If you did nothing to piss her off and have an overall good relationship with her, that’s it. I tried it once and she just kissed my MC)
