Good thing suffering is what Step does best, next to self-destruction (in all seriousness though, can’t wait!)
I’m wondering how the confrontation with the Puppet will go (not sure when that will happen, but Rosie/Boris does call the Puppet at the end and the Puppet does pick up), and how Rosie/Boris will handle seeing Step’s real form for the first time when they pick up Sidestep after their favorite Ranger drops them off.
Also, did anyone else think the FH1 achievement “Scaring the Baby” referred to an actual baby before cracking open an achievement guide?
Nahh, why
No, but now I’m imagining Sidestep either having a guilt breakdown after taking a babies candy, or just laughing maniacally as a masterful villain after the fact. Depending on what Sidestep are you running.
After which he causes mass suicide for fun.
That’s my Step
Even though the tone of it would be completely out of place in the game, I thought “Scaring the Baby” would be an example of this trope until I read the cheevo guide. If we wished, Sidestep in their villainsona could take the tag off their mattress, crinkle paper in movie theaters, disobey “Keep off the grass” signs, etc.
What ever do you mean? Herald is Baby. uwu
He’s 25 or 26…
And he’s still a naive kid living in a land of unicorns and rainbows until we show him reality.
At 25 you’re very much a baby, I’m living proof of that.
Jokes aside, he was really naive in the first book, so the title suits him. Another reason why book two was so good. It was great to see his character growth, especially since I didn’t care for him and now I’m excited to see him come to terms with reality.
Look, at least it wasn’t “Scarring the Baby”.
I’m pretty sure he has a few scars from that too TBH.
Or a crippled leg.
If he’s your rival then you can use your knowledge of Herald to trap him on the car as you beat his face in until he can’t fight anymore, without breaking his leg.
I’m as old as you and Herald, but I don’t feel like a baby Well, I guess it depends on the person…
Licking a scar from leg surgery ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Sidestep can be a freak like Jun/ko…
Question, am I the only one that can’t choose “I will and have killed them when necessary” when choosing my anarchist path? I tried code reading but there’s literally no condition for having it available or not, and yet I’m pretty sure only by killing someone in Rebirth I can have it available. I just want to kill Deveraux without step feeling like they betrayed themselves.
Looking at the code the condition for it is having killed before and not feeling bad about it (Not having the nokill or repentkill flags)
Thanks, I realized I was just looking at the code of an older version and that’s why it didn’t seem like the option had any prerequisites. The only thing that annoys me is that I have to be a known killer to be able to choose the option, since SneakyKill includes NoKill if you’ve never killed before and are just causing mass suicides. I mean, sure, eventually I would have became a known killer by taking down Deveraux, but it fits better with my concept that the one known kill they have is that of a corrupt politician, as a way to send a message to the people. Killing some mall cops beforehand kinda undermines that a bit.
Just replayed the game a couple of times, and it’s damn impressive how many permutations there are. My last go featured a last chapter that I didn’t even know was possible and gave me an added appreciation for my little buddy ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ, the only NPC in the games to truly have Sidestep’s back.
Given the sheer amount of content, I feel bad asking @malinryden for any changes, and am only doing so because I could swear that I read somewhere that Malin is doing some kind of light content rework.
The first is one that I’ve had since launch and it’s a tiny thing. When playing as a thief, during the first encounter with Lady argent, there’s an exchange where she tells the MC that he’s nothing more than a thief and the MC says “like of your heart?”. I believe the intention is to have an exchange is to say something along the lines of “like I stole your heart?” but her initial comment and the reply option could use a light reworking because it’s awkward as currently written.
The other thing that has nagged at me since launch is wanting to kill Eric Devereux without doing so publicly. The “no one needs to know I’m a killer” is a great nod to the MC’s abilities, so I’d love an option with Devereux to put him in the hospital in the Blaze fight but then arrange his death in the hospital in a way later that frames whoever the object of the MC’s ire is. That hidden assassin trait is an important one, and I’m hoping it continues to be relevant.
Finally, Malin may have saved a NPC from Sidestep’s vengeance. Rereading the dog park scene, I realized that Chen Wei is a Mets fan, and that touches this New Yorker’s and fellow Mets fan’s heart. Sidestep will probably show mercy because as a Mets fan, poor Steel has already suffered enough. That, or letting him live so he can continue being a Mets fan is revenge enough. I wonder if in this darkest Fallen Hero timeline the Mets are still paying Bobby Bonilla, too…
