I think your missing a big part of the puzzle here. If the author puts a cheat menu in the game you dont have to use it.

Yeah i feel the same but im pretty sure i know what the author intended. Even if it didnt land with me im definitely still going to play the rest of it.

A cheat menu would be cool even if it was given to you after completing the game. Its a thing not many authors include. And i can kinda see why given how many people say they are a bad thing.

Yeah i know, that’s why i said i’ll still play it. It’s just my opinion on cheat modes in general, some games do need cheat modes while others like this doesn’t but that’s just me. At the end of the day it’s all up to the author to implement not me

Also, any chance of playing someone even resembling Guts is a must play for me lol.

Yeah, I know that in the dark setting, it would make sense for the player’s character to be weak and not all that able, but I simply don’t like playing as this kind of protagonist, and that’s exactly the reason for this type of MC I created.

Sure, you could have gotten your ass kicked by an old guy and a mad guy right after you woke up, and then What did you expect to see here? No spoilers allowed. But I feel like it’s… meh. Hence why I gave you a somewhat tanky MC (heh, maybe not somewhat) .

I hope that the next update will resolve some issues on this matter, considering that you’ll see a more broad picture of what’s happening. Because, right now, with only one POV shift which didn’t lead to anything happening with the protagonist surely feels off-putting.

Honestly a cheat mod would probably be too much for this type of game, i’d rather like an option to disable hard combat checks or to lower the checks but a cheat mode that gives you basically everything is just not for me. I’d rather read the story as intended but decisions comes down to the author and whatever he do with the IF is up to him, cheat mode or not i will still read it lol

I think I’ll see what I can do about it later. As of now, my main focus is to work on the story, and I can’t really spread my attention elsewhere (I know that the authors of “Kingdoms and Empires” and “Path of Martial Arts: The Beginning” have it in their demos, but my hands are full right now.) But I’m actually one of those who like to cheat in COG games, tweaking the stats and stuff, (although manually through the save files or Dashingdon console) so it’s possible that I’ll implement it in the future

One last thing, if u do make the book a souls like game, please, let us have the option to use cheats xD
I’m not a huge fan of the genre, but, i have tried really hard to play Dark souls 2, Mortal Shell and Code Vein, but, its a no no for me on solo

I doubt I’ll make them hard for you to actually be frustrated enough to use cheats. But I’ll think about the cheat menu as I wrote above.

I do hope you’ll focus on giving news and updates in the tumblr page rather than answering RO questions (sorry for other IF authors out there but it’s getting pretty annoying seeing the whole ro QnA shenanigans and seeing less and less updates every month/year) or at the very least give some more insight (see what i did there) on the setting and world rather than answering the same questions over and over again. Also what about patreon? I’d like to support you in the future if it’s possible

It’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I’ll quote my other reply that elaborates why exactly I prefer it over the others.

Yes, Soulsborne games are one of the inspirations for this - Sekiro in particular.

The mobility and the overall feeling of combat gave me goosebumps. In other Soulsborne games, you’re fighting against an unstoppable force, and it’s evident because you have to constantly dodge the attacks, inserting a few of your own in between the animations.

In Sekiro, you have an option to parry, which changes everything. The fact that, with enough skill, you can make the battles with bosses somewhat equal (deflect their attack, then counter-attack, parry another one, jump on their head, land on the ground, and do a mikiri counter right afterward) is what hooked me. Oh yeah, and when you parry their strongest thrust, which makes you lurch away, breaking your posture, your katana in the ground is just exquisite. Fight with Genichiro and his lighting reversal mechanic is something else - if you can pull it out, you’ll feel like a god.

It’s like Who’s the unstoppable force now?

Though I wouldn’t necessarily call my story a Soulslike, more like I draw inspiration from these kinds of games.

Thanks for the information, I gotta play that one for sure. Haven’t played Sekiro or Elden Ring but I did recently finish Code Vein which is the best Souls game I played so far, check it out maybe for inspiration for your story? Code vein is story wise pretty good compared to DS1-3.

Code Vein? Really? Play Bloodborne and i assure you it’ll change your whole perspective of a good souls game 360 degrees. Personally Code Vein is mediocre at best

Bloodborne is PS exclusive, I’m on PC and lots of people said that Code Vein is the most underrated game as story and music wise it is pretty good.
