Well, i was mostly joking about the cheat menu and such, as i see, its mostly trial and error if the reader want to have a “perfect score” just like any other game that u dont use cheats, but, my suggestion for replaybility would be the use of “codes” gained in the ‘end game’… a bit like Unnatural; of course, my advice is: focus on finishing, then think about such things, as yourself said, too much on ur plate, and please dont burn yourself on our account as u just started.
One last thing; thanks for doing the mc a capable character and not some prince/ss in need of rescue xD
(A joke people, dont take that seorilys)
So, I have not watched this anime, but I have heard of a scene that happens in it that… well… I don’t really know how to say it without saying it/offending people, so I’m just gonna blur it out: I heard the anime has a rape scene. I just wanted to know, before I even click the demo link, does this story have something like that in it? If it does, then I’m just gonna skip this WiP.
Sorry if my question makes anyone who reads it uncomfortable or offended. Normally I like to keep an open mind on all WiPs and what they contain, but that’s just one subject in literature that makes me uncomfortable and I’m sorry but I’d prefer to know beforehand on whether I should avoid this one. Sorry.
Btw, how will the combat work exactly? Since the mc is clearly more capable than the average person and knowing that they’re gonna be in a lot of situations that require combat, will you do the typical abstract stats (for example: combat=50; intellegence=40) or will you get into more detail?(strength=60;agility=10) things like that.
I figured that many questions and concerns would arise when I wrote that I got inspired by Berserk. However, I want to say it once and for all: my work won’t contain SA scenes. I know that much more people are okay with violence but not this. Doing something like this will only achieve a big shock factor, at the cost of turning half the auditory away. I’m not willing to do that, and I’m not comforted with even thinking about writing such scenes.
Having said that, with the next update, I’ll create another thread in the adult category, because there’s a lot of other adult content coming (primarily physical harm to the human body and its consequences), but don’t worry - the list of the trigger warnings will be updated so that everybody will know what they’re getting themselves into.
I’ll get into more details since combat is a big part of the game. You can expect strength, agility, endurance, and something like analysis (these will be 100%, something else may be added).
I think some of you guys need to actually realize just because an IF is inspired by Berserk doesn’t make it a carbon copy of it. Berserk is a dark fantasy about overcoming trauma, and yes it does have the dreaded R-word in it, but it’s a lot lot more than that. I won’t tell you to go read it, but it’s considered one of the greatest manga series of all time for a very good reason. A lot of the things we love today have been influenced by Berserk and a couple of them are Dark Souls and Elden Ring, which are very much their own stories. Have a little faith people.
I dont think people are expecting this to just be a berserk clone. From everything ive read the author is trying to make his game stand out and be unique compared to others.
Yes we know that @Facepalmcity and i’ve personally read Berserk and it’s one of my most favorite mangas along with Vagabond and Vinland Saga basically my top three, being inspired by Berserk is more than enough reason why i’m interested in this game, the guy was just being cautious about the R word being put here as a shock factor that’s all really. I’m happy that Berserk is an inspiration it’s rare to see a medieval dark fantasy story here and i’m grateful somebody is doing it with the vein of Berserk in it
Bruh nobody said that this is a clone of berserk.
Some people were just understandably concerned about a very specific part of the manga and whether similar elements would be involved in this story.
Because that’s what it sounds like on paper bruh? “This was inspired by Berserk? So it’s gonna have **** scene(s)?” Just putting it out there that an IF has Berserk or any other dark fantasy series listed as an influence doesn’t all of sudden makes people think it’s going to have that singular element. Like, there’s a lot darker shit that happens then just that one thing.
Yeah a lot of dark stuff happens in berserk but if people are concerned about a specific part of the story, they will voice their concerns. Berserk is a great manga but anyone who is slightly familiar with it would know that it’s well known for those scenes. So yes, if Berserk is listed as one of the inspirations for an If, most people will wonder if similar elements would be involved in this story.
Quite the interesting beginning, waking up surrounded by strangers with horrible baggage waiting on your conscience.
Really enjoyed the twist of actually being attacked by those that brought you to your feet have always thought that the classic fantasy trope of “The good samaritan” aiding you on a moment of weakness with no ulterior motives is bullshit, a tad more realistic to human nature is to use you afterwards for their own ends or on the darkest of settings dispatch you at the end.
Certainly would like for our MC to be connected to a noble linage as it does add to the drama, a fallen/impoverished family or even our lad being the bastard of a noble with a servant(you can even make the father a Duke or an influential gent), if you want to introduce some political intrigue and violence it would be a nice excuse to really fit our character in.
Since I aim to create an authentic experience of a grim-dark world, I’ll try to tell a story in which you need to take human inherent wickedness and selfishness into account when making your decisions.
I can’t tell you anything about the MC because it’ll be a huge spoiler. All I can say is that he’s not just some random person - although I think you’ve figured out as much already.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to cause strife with my question. Please let’s just forget I even asked anything, ok? In the future if I have any concerns I’ll just message the author directly instead of posting it. Sound good?
True, it wasn’t a bad question really, it’s reasonable to ask about that considering this is inspired by Berserk and we all know what Berserk can be most of the time. I don’t blame him for asking that out but some others got offended or something idk
I want to start off by saying that I enjoyed the short demo, and was quite saddened by it being incomplete. Particularly because I was delighted to see that this was inspired by the dark world of Berserk (and souls games, I presume?), which is a really great manga if people give it a chance.
I want people who hasn’t read BERSERK to understand that there’s more to it than THAT scene.
Berserk is written intelligently, and treats its audience equally. The dark elements, the mystery, the horror, the gruesomeness, the gritty storytelling, and the unapologetic world Miura has concocted all work together like tiny cogs in a machine.
Not to mention the sheer beauty and composition of the artwork. Words wouldn’t do it justice, so I suggest you try and see it for yourself.
In the spirit of Miura, Berserk will live on through memory, references, and inspirations touched by its incredible influence. Like this WIP. Yes, Berserk depicts a terrible reality where awful things happen to everyone. A reality where the monsters under your bed are real, and innocent people are punished unjustly by forces so much greater than themselves. But it’s not entirely a hopeless world, as shown by Guts who continues to struggle and fight on despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him.
It’s a story about hope, DETERMINATION, and never giving up. These are some of the reasons as to why it’s a great story. A cult classic? Probably.
Uh.
TL;DR: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Sorry for the long tangent. I just can’t help it. Because I don’t want people to be put off by this great WIP.
And to the author- I hope that you continue your little story. Pour your heart into it, and trust yourself to make the best out of this great thing you’ve got going on. Imma watch real closely.
