As I said I completely understand what you were trying to say. I’m more than open to any form of criticism, because I believe that’s how one develops. I’m not the kind of person who only listens to good praising words. However, what bothered me was the way you passed on your opinion and judgement as fact. The same thing is happening with choice-related opinions as well.
You have all the right to compare other games/stories that you like, and think that other stories or games have influenced certain elements of my game, but you could try to form it as hypothesis of your own, or a question, rather than a quick judgmental fact. In the early days of DoD people have also mentioned that it’s like Fallout 4, because it came out a bit earlier than DoD.
Nevertheless, I hope you will get to enjoy the game.
You made Ivan the absolute worst. In the first game my character was planning to kill him from the moment they met. The whole CARVING HIS NAME IN ME didn’t earn him a reprieve. I Kinda thought Lizzy was my girlfriend after we escaped but her Calling me little brother in the sequel was a ball punch. Followed by us getting captured by Ivan market Deux and then having Ivan stuck in our head. So when we got the option to shoot the single bullet I chose myself. Only for that to be a mislead and then after making our protagonist slowly through absolute hell there was no simple " I want to die "option that was disappointing. Did you assume that anyone who survived constant atrocities would be like " suddenly I’m psychologically healthy and well adjusted. There really should have been a “I just want to die and stay dead” wish.
After reading through most of your comments, I think you have a valid point about being able to end up dead in the game. The will to live doesn’t apply to everyone after long time of torment I guess. However, if I update the game accordingly, I will not add it under the Oracle part, for obvious reasons.
I’ve done a lot of dark writing and depending on the games i have an certain perspective of my characters. DoD is like the spy’s head from tf2
Heroes Rise original protagonist basically in my eyes became Injustice Gods Among Us Superman.
Open Season: she started her adventures protecting her sister but ultimately when her sister didn’t need her anymore she lost her way.
Wayhaven: my character refuses to fall for anyone because she finds them barging into her life and ruining everything a pain in her ass. She’s constantly annoyed by their antics.
Both games involving space pirates my character resists until being forced into slavery then just accepts that this is their life now.
In the of infinity series my character has become numb to death and bloodshed. Though he’ll never marry ) if I have a say) he doess have some passion for women’s rights.
Samurai of Hyuga : the Ronin is canonically f
Severely depressed and has no self esteem. And Masami is the only good thing in her life.
Fallen Hero: my character is on a suicide mission she plans to die destroying the people who experimented on her.
Community college hero: my girl was desperately trying to find her way . A dad who died in prison, a taskmistress mother. She didn’t make friends easily. And when dirty girl showed her any kind of affection she became so desperate she’d do anything to impress her including hard drugs . She also has so much pain and anger inside she wants to Kill every super Villain.
Tl:Dr I have a lot of free time to think and figure out my characters motivation.
It may be as it seems however most of the ideas/concepts out there weren’t entirely original. It comes down to who came out first and how it was executed. The thing which mattered most was how it was implemented. That’s what really matters. A story could revolve around a protagonist living for revenge and end up falling for their sworn enemy, all this cliches but we still like them and enjoy it nonetheless. I’m a huge fan of Telltale games and I agree with you in some ways that DOD and TWD have similarities but so as the thousands of other apocalyptic games/stories/movies/TV shows out there. With that being said, I still get to enjoy DOD.
Okay so ive replayed the book like 4 times and i love it i really do except all i want is a happy ending with Lily but i cant get that ending i just get other endings so when your with the oracle what option do you take ect and what are some key details i have to have to end up with a happy ending for both me and lily and keith please help
Choose to go to the mad village thats the answer don’t go anywhere else. Also refuse Ivans help can’t trust him. Thats how you save her. For the happy ending with her and Keith also make sure to keep your radiation levels low before you meet the Oracle, also when that monster asks if you want to be cured (after you started her romance) always say no. Anyway when you meet the Oracle choose I wish to to leave this place do not choose to walk through the portal, kill him, or make a wish for Keith. I also I think it helps to be a good person.
but perhaps the most important one i can remember is saving Lily, listen to Keith and go to mad village, don’t listen to Ivan and choose to leave when meeting the oracle …
Hmm, if by saving her you mean ending up with her… You have to side with her at the end of DoD (otherwise she’s most likely dead already). Then on the way to the Oracle, she’ll find you
I need to choose jump off when i met Ivan right ? i chose follow him and i get an interesting ending… that ending has some philosophical value though but now i need to replay again
