Crimson Reapers (Kinda dead/on Hiatus)

3D printing (thats an early idea, will work on that later)

Here’s a list of planes in interval 1 (intervals are where planes can be switched, of which there will be 4) They consist of early American fighter variants, from the 70’s era of flight

F-15a
F-5 Freedom fighter
F-16a block 15

So when is this set e.g modern, historic, future

Modern-Future, I’m planning for UCAVs and advanced stealth fighters to be in the game.

Lasers, anyone?

Do you have a year in mind e.g mine is set in 2050

Currently, the game is set to take place in 2019-2020, and making a sequel seems far-fetched, given my skill at writing.

Oh my! Beware the F-16 “falling” Falcon. Or at least that’s one of the less flattering nicknames the pilots gave it back when I tried to apply for the air force officer training.

I costs about 3 million Euros to train a modern fighter pilot and that’s our air-force the US one does it slightly more expensive, some countries do it cheaper, like the mc’s rush job training here. But even that will still cost the tax payers at least a million, I suspect.

The list prices of some of the various planes are:

F-16 between 15 and 19 million USD per unit.
F-15 roughly 30 million USD for the upgraded and modernized versions these days. About 5 million to refurbish and upgrade one from mothball stock, which I sincerely hope our fictional country did.
F-18 about 30 million USD per unit
F-22 approximately 150 million USD per unit
Eurofighter about 120 million USD per unit.
F-35 “boondoggle” also about 120-130 million USD per unit.

All in all maintaining a modern air-force costs some serious bucks, which is why it is sadly so frequently attacked by ignorant and opportunistic politicians.

Well technological or even just manufacturing powerhouse might do it, yes. Likely stealing some of China’s OTL thunder in that case, but whatever.
I’m guessing from what scant things we know of them, like an immature emperor being able to start a major war without being deposed or seemingly facing much internal opposition I’m going to guess that the Lorean Empire likely derives its wealth more from resource exploitation, since having a resource extraction based economy is the easiest way to maintain an absolutist dictatorship. Maybe they have tons of gold, uranium or just the much vaunted rare-earths to be able to afford their extravagant air force with.

Wow the country is really dipping into the mothball reserves there aren’t they. An updated (i’m really hoping they paid Lockheed to refurbish their mothball F-15 stock here  ) F-15 seems like it would be the best bet to go with from that lot, properly piloted it just might even stand up to the F-35 in certain situations (that situation being close, visual range combat).

Exactly what I was thinking

Either way, thank you for those planes’ price.
I can finally plan to build a plane of my own.
:airplane:

Geez, it costs 60,000 usd to keep an f-22 in the air for ONE hour… I can buy a luxury car with that money…

Now you’re starting to sound like one of those negative nancies in parliament. Having a well-equipped and trained air-force is a matter of national prestige! :persevere:

Yeah, yeah. If it means anything, I want to be a fighter pilot, but sadly, my gpa will not comply  The F-22 is one of the best fighters in existence, despite the flight cost…

Whereas my general health and limited verticality wouldn’t. You think they’d like the fact that guys shorter than 175cm would be more easily able to squeeze into tight cockpits and weigh less, but no, not in the officer training-programme! :rage:
On the other hand since my general health issue was celiacs I’d have been kicked out once they would have found that out anyway.

Indeed. Makes me mad when thinking about the previously mentioned “boondoggle”, if this was purely the private sector and market ruling, that plane wouldn’t see the skies.

Well the F-35 is a “boondoggle” exactly because the market and private sector have been given far too much leeway with it.
Can’t really comment on the F-22. Thought the US didn’t export those. If they’re willing to deliver some to Ahzlovokia we must be really good friends with the "Muricans or they must really hate the Loreans, or both.

oh. about that. This takes place in a fictional earth, where landmasses formed differently, so America doesn’t exist! Its like strangereal from ace combat franchise:
Strangereal_Map_(Small)

Which reminds me, does anyone know a good program to design 2d images with? Its for game assets if i release it…

I believe @Goshman can help you out there:

At least if you’re looking for maps, for cover art I’m afraid you’d be stuck with commissioning, unless you have the appropriate talent yourself.

Agreed. I am afraid I don’t know any designers or programs that I could recommend.

Sooooooo, I may have bugged the stat screen… I’m at a loss at whether or not to upload the update, so until that is fixed the update won’t come…

On a side note, anyone have any character ideas for wingmen? The player will lead a team of 4(including themselves). I have 2/3 people planned out, and while I have ideas for the third wingman, I want to hear other peoples’ ideas. So, put names, personality traits, the plane they fly, and physical traits in a post. (by god i feel out of place doing this; there’s like 4 people who have shown major interest…)

Thanks for the effort, guys. Inkarnate looks interesting, might scope that one out!

Have you played MechaAce? I like Asadi (the violent wingman).
As for names?? James/Jamie?
5’6, Brown hair, grey eyes
Can’t think of the plane… engine rotates to allow hovering.

Ospry or Lightning II

Osprey is the one that rotates the engines. Marine transport vehicle that crashes at least once a year with fatalities. Maybe more, it just doesn’t feel like a very reliable vehicle.
