Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

lol @Fiogan, it’s funny you said that. I drew her on my iPad with only lips on her face but I couldn’t get it to look…not ridiculous. However, it’s definitely an idea I’m discussing with the artist. I also considered some sort of wink expression, but again I couldn’t make it look right.

@HornHeadFan is there any possibility of a Stoic romance or a Uni romance?

@Lobo420 I think a Uni romance is already an option (or at least, the beginnings of a romance). Not sure, though - I haven’t taken that route.

A Stoic romance would be interesting, though. Would definitely be interested in that, since she’s one of my favorite characters.

The Tactician is not much of an up front fighter. Their main skills are Stealth and Intelligence, so they shouldn’t be engaging in direct combat unless there is no other option. Something like a garrote would be a more fitting weapon for our Tacticians, allowing them to render enemies unconscious silently. Instead of, you know, the scrawny MC trying to put a strong person in a headlock for silent takedown and getting thrown across the room instead.

Re: Tactician, but the MC isn’t necessarily scrawny, right? I assumed from the weaknesses that unless I actually choose ‘puny’ I’m at least average strength, and presumably more so because I’ve invested a bunch of time in all kinds of hero-related activities. Similarly, all the categories seem to have decent movement abilities unless I choose a disadvantage that takes away from my movement. And average strength + surprise, I would think, can pack a pretty good wallop.

Well my plans have changed. Originally I intended for this to be a 140k+ word, 10 chapter novel but I’ve decided to split it into two different releases.

This way, much of Part II is already written in my head and I can probably start beta testing Part I by end July.

I also figured I would probably be stuck with a $1.99 price tag as a HG whether it was 80k words or 140k so why not split it into 2 at $1.99 each and get the first released to build up some steam for Part II?

I am actually very excited now but I’ll have to rewrite the first few pages as those characters won’t appear until later in the series.

@HornHeadFan
That was my reasoning for splitting up Trial of the Demon Hunter :stuck_out_tongue: this is good news ^^

Though I think 140K would probably get you a $2.99 price tag.

@Samuel_H_Young, it may have, but you never know! I think the only HGs at $2.99 were Unnatural and SoI so I wasn’t going to hold my breath. Plus, this way it is hopefully released in the fall instead of Christmas time.

@HornHeadFan
And Life of a Wizard (which is 130k) :stuck_out_tongue: but either way, I totally agree with this decision.

I would have objected to that if not for the god offal 4 games that came out prior to Mecha, wouldn’t name them because it is obvious which ones I mean. Funny how they help sell anything good for a bit of a higher price.

@jcury, maybe I’m just being thick but can you explain your thoughts again? I wasn’t sure what you meant.

Well I would definitely pay £1.99 as long as part 1 had a good conclusion.

@Zanite, yes I think it is a fair price point. It should still be at least a 90 minute read and I think it has replayability at least for 1 to 2 additional reads with different combat styles, romantic interests and groups. I will strive to make the ending a combination of bringing the Contrarian to a conclusion while pointing out to the reader that many unanswered questions remain.

I have written a LOT since the last update and I still have about 20k words to go but I’ve writing about 1k per day so I’m in a groove.

Hey, remember to put “TO BE CONTINUED IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE HERO 2” or something along those lines at the end. I got some bad ratings because people thought the end of TotDH was the end, period, despite the fact that “- Volume One of Demons Among Men” was a subtitle, and that I explicitly stated in the author’s note that there are several sequels to come xD.

Are we going to be allowed to beta test it or something? And if is what did u have in mind for that?

@Fiogan I am aware that the MC is not necessarily scrawny, i was saying that a person who selected scrawny as a weakness may have a hard time taking a person down silently, or at all, if they attempt a chokehold.

Let me give an example, “you sneak up behind the mobster quietly, preparing to bring him down silently. You bring your arms around his throat in a chokehold, he grabs your arms… and pries your arms from his throat before throwing your scrawny frame over his shoulder’s and slamming you onto the floor.”

With garrote,
“you sneak up behind the mobster. Then, you loop the garrote around his throat, placing your heel against his back, and pull. The mobster tries to remove the garrote but the effort is in vain. He attempts to call for help but all he can manage is a strained gurgle. It takes about thirty seconds before he collapses from lack of oxygen.”

Witch of these situations turns out better for an MC without much muscle?

@StarWarsMaster, no plans to romance the professors. Perhaps something to think about in a sequel! I didn’t really think any of them would be remotely desirable though.

During all my playthroughs my MC dated Stunner because he was the character that filled the archetype of the guy who doesn’t care about anyone other than himself, romancing him was like affirming my MC’s relationship with him and what type of hero my MC is.

General update. I’ve written out the entire remainder of the story complete with all choices outlined. Now it’s just that small matter of typing/coding it all.

I also hired my artist last night so I’m exited about that. He’s working on the icon this week and will be finished sometime in mid to late July. I researched “all rights” agreements and drafted one of those too.

Awesome :slight_smile: may I suggest sticking the image on the first page using the *image command so that people can take a second to appreciate it :P?
