I doubt any of you are close enough to come, but just in case you are…

I’ll be at Derby City Comic Con in Louisville, KY on June 25th and 26th

And then the exciting part…I’m sharing a table with the authors of So You’re Possessed! at the Imaginarium writing convention October 7-9th, also in Louisville. I might even be making a presentation on writing interactive fiction.

Hopefully I can get the word out on interactive fiction in general and CCH specifically. It won’t exactly be a money maker considering $.70 per sale, but I’m bringing some swag (the rest of the Speck t-shirts I have) and @Wire is supplying me with some signed prints to sell, so hopefully I’ll at least break even and enjoy myself. It’s really more about having fun, meeting some local authors, networking a bit, enjoying my status as an official ā€œauthor,ā€ and trying to convert some folks into potential customers for Parts 1, 2 and beyond.

Oh and any convention-goer who downloads CCH on the spot gets my John Hancock on a postcard featuring CCH art. It’s a tactic some other local authors say works well.

Loved the game. As a recovering attorney, I had a strong suspicion there was an attorney creating all of this. Who else would have two exams about insurance law. Looking forward to the next chapter and wondering how beta testers get picked for something like this.

I’m glad you liked it! And what are you doing professionally now? Did you shift career fields?

And I actually received a lot of positive comments about the insurance law stuff…one guy in particular said something like, ā€œIt made it clear that you weren’t talking down to us.ā€ and I really appreciated him saying that. I think much of the CoG/HG audience is quite intelligent, and so I wasn’t afraid to get ā€œinto the weedsā€ a bit on insurance and such, because I thought it would make the whole story seem more grounded and maybe more realistic.

And I’ll PM you about the beta question.

@Eric_Moser or anyone else who knows the answer:

Is it possible to be voted leader without flirting with anyone?

I’ve been trying to do what people have said in the forums but I can’t seem to do it.

Yep, @Urban can give you details as to how.

Yes @user22hundred, especially since Stoic and Wombat are both voters, but neither is a romantic option. You just need to win over Mob, D.G., or Crook. I think there are plenty of ways to win over any of those three, especially if you play nice and join their study groups, HELL, Breaking People, and Secrets respectively, but I’ll let @urban or anyone else who has broken down the details jump in with more specifics.

And folks in the private thread are voting on the below, but I figured I should post it here too.

Question: Which of the three images of D.G. and Crook to the left do you like the most? You can just call them ā€œstanding,ā€ ā€œsaluting,ā€ and ā€œjumpingā€ for the sake of clarity. The sketch with the most votes will end up as a completed image I sell as a print at a few conventions this year.

Comment with your vote. And if you’re already voted in the private thread, please don’t vote here.

Gaaah I’m torn between A and B. A has the attitude that D.G shows while B makes those two look like bona-fide badasses…

I’m gonna say B

That depends on your class and Erich which rewards you want.

Haha yes A, B and C work well as labels too. And in the spirit of full disclose, I love all of them.

Finish all three. The most voted gets to be a print, the other two for personal keeping

Sorry, could you elaborate? I didn’t quite get that.

I’d suggest A!
The perspective is pretty grand, and I think it really shows off their personalities
Plus it’d look straight wicked as a print… or yknow a shirt >;3c
Then again it also depends on how detailed the background/colouring will be on B, because B could also look REALLY awesome as a print aswell depending on how the artist decides to go with lighting n stuff >:0 I

The last one looks nice, but I feel like the other two will reach out to the people who look at it more, it also feels less focused on the both of them with how prioritized D.G is compared to Crook. o":

As I look at B, I realize what I like most about that one. Salutes are traditionally gestures of respect being shown for others, whereas with D.G., it takes on the exact opposite message…almost like a ā€œScrew youā€ type of message, especially combined with the smirks on their faces. It feels a bit countercultural.

As you said, A’s perspective is extremely cool, and with C, a lot of people will like the ā€œtraditionalā€ jumping into action type of scene. Again, I’m so torn. The folks on FB are weighing in with almost 30 votes thus far.

Yes!! B feels super cocky, and I really like that ;o;
It fits their characters to a T, and kinda pulls ya in, and despite the gesture it gives you a bigger sorta connection to the character!
I could only imagine how much more those feelings intensify with the finished product
I don’t know exactly what direction they’re looking, but if its down, the idea of Crook looking down at you from the corner of his eye, smirking
Bruh…
thats a straight seller in my eyes

I vote for C! While A is my second vote, I’ll always vote for the most dynamic one if I have a choice.

It might be possible to get the votes to become the leader without flirting, but it depends on your class (Soldier, Acrobat Detective and Sharpshooter) and the teachers’ rewards you want.

I like I all three, but I have to agree with those who say B because its the most ā€œbadassā€.

B is a close winner for me, like them all but it’s just slightly cooler
