College Tennis: Origin Story (WIP) - Updated 7 Nov '24 [621k words]

Great update as always. Rayyan is :fire: , I knew that intensity was combustible! Tobin… oh Tobin. The kiss was swoony and perfect and then…that happened. I hate that response. I mean, I get the Tobin pov let’s the reader know it’s not just a soft rejection, but it feels like it and is confusing. What does take it slow mean? Wait another week or two? A month? Will he ever be ready? I just want to know how long my frustration will last.. On another note, I’m not asking for it, just saying I would also romance Emerson and Deepal in a heartbeat, I love those guys and all your characters!

I would like to know how skill tests work, whether it is the sum of two skills or whether each skill has to have a certain level
example
strength 25 along with agility 25 correct
or strength 10 plus agility 40 correct

No, that’s ok. I don’t mind at all. I’ll try to answer to the best of my abilities :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I get that. I’ve been following tennis properly for about ten years, so while most of the terminology is fairly familiar to me, I can understand why it might be a bit confusing to someone new to the sport.

Yes, that’s exactly right. The seeding gets decided on the rankings of the players involved - but the rankings as of the week before the tournament takes place (so, if you were the number 2 when the draw was made, but happened to move up a place due to the results of a tournament played in the following week, you’d still be the second seed assuming the top-ranked player was entered).

Depends on the context. You could describe the top-ranked player as having the ‘top seeding’ (for example), but you wouldn’t say they are the ‘top seeding’ (rather that they are the top seed), if that makes sense?

That’s right. In professional tennis, for example, there are tournaments played all year, from the highest rung (i.e. the Grand Slams) all the way to the lowest echelons of the game (i.e. events called Futures), all of which award ranking points which determine your overall ranking (with the number of points awarded dependent on the level of tournament and how far you progress). Only so many tournaments can count towards your ranking though (in the men’s game, assuming you don’t qualify for the year-end championship, only 18 tournaments can be included, for example)

Both the ATP (the men’s governing body) and the WTA (the women’s equivalent) operate under this type of structure, albeit their ranking systems are slightly different from each other (at the Grand Slams, for example, the ATP would give a player finishing as the runner-up 1200 points, while the WTA would give the same player 1300 points)

I’m not actually familiar with the specifics of college tennis, but I imagine a similar merit-based system would be in place to determine who the best players in the college system are.

Well, who is or isn’t a seed is entirely intentional, but how the seeds are placed in the draw is partly random, yes. The number 1 and 2 seeds are always going to be placed at the very top and very bottom of the draw respectively, but where the rest of the seeds are placed has an element of randomness to it (for example, the 3rd and 4th seeds can never be placed in the same half as each other, but which half the respective players are placed in is determined at random)

Yes, more specifically, the number of players entered into a particular tournament. The ‘main’ draw refers to the number of players competing in the final stage of a tournament (so at the start of a Grand Slam, for example, that would be 128 players); the ‘qualifying’ draw refers to the stage before the tournament properly starts, where players not quite ranked high enough compete in a mini-tournament before the tournament proper starts for a place in the main draw (in a Grand Slam, there are usually 16 spots reserved for qualifiers)

Well, the word ‘seed’ when I use it doesn’t refer to how a draw is made, but just to refer to those players who are given a bit more protection in where they are placed; like ‘unseeded’ players, they’re still drawn randomly (apart from the top two seeds, who are automatically placed at the top and bottom of the draw respectively) but just into more specific parts of the draw so as to ensure it’s balanced (in a Grand Slam, for example, there are eight spots in the draw where one of each of the players seeded 25th to 32nd have to be drawn, but which of these players goes into said spots is entirely random).

In this case, I don’t think it necessarily means that Rayyan is the best player in the whole college system (though they very well could be, I’m not sure), just that they’re the top-ranked player in your own team. So for the sake of team events against other colleges, in singles they would be paired up against whoever was the top-ranked player of the opposing college, while the MC (if you managed to grab the fourth spot) would play against your fourth-ranked counterpart.

Again, I’m not as familiar with the inner workings of college tennis, so I could be wrong

I hope all of my answers were helpful

Heya, quick response to @andrea_silva before I get to the other messages: there are two types checks.

  1. Sum of two, represented in tutorial mode as “+”. (strength + agility >50). This is usually when it sounds like one stat can compensate for the other.
  2. Both need to be above the check level, represented as “and”. ((strength >25) and (agility >25)). This is usually when the check seems like the move requires both.

As mentioned above I try to state whether its “and” or “+” in tutorial mode but some parts may not be coded in.

I found another 2 bugs, both in chapter 3-1_firstweekend:

Class readings

I did 2 readings before classes started, and this was acknowledged in the surprise test (I got the “you’ve done enough readings” message), but here I’m getting the message that should only be appearing if I did 1 reading. The code looks solid, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Darkroom

Another pronoun mixup.

I played it five times (i finally get Afig’s POV), all the drama about who will doubles with who is so nerve-wracking! (It also looks like love triangle, but i see it everywhere) And i definitely need coach Sýkorová’s POV, it would be funny to see what she thinks about that.
Harris’ story about relationship with Felix is sad (not crying kind of sad, but relatable kind of sad - first year of college, everything is new and one can feel kind of lonely).
Can’t wait to see Sam again!

You know full well I’m satisfied with any Sam crumbs you leave for me. But I’m glad to hear we’re at least a chance at a drive-by hug before MC’s first match.

I mean not wrong but also my MC just as guilty as Sam at the emotional incompetency

All I know is update part 2 is gonna be a TIME.

Reminiscing about Sam doubles

In the places I highlighted, you used the team pronoun instead of the Sam pronoun.

just after that

There’s a random symbol here.

Dream just before 3-4_lockerroom

“and your partner’s back to you” - should this be “and your partner’s back is to you”?

The MC can’t make out who the doubles partner is, except that in the first sentence you’ve already said who it is. Maybe to keep up the mystery of who the doubles partner is, you could just say that the MC’s playing doubles without mentioning the partner?

Also, I love the transition to the next chapter. There’s this whole mysterious vibe going on in the dream, and then it just cuts to Daniela describing MC windmilling their arm around in their sleep.

I’m moving on to the new stuff now, so I’ll let you know how that goes :grinning:

It’ll be so funny to have all the ROs realize they’re pinning for MC and be like this on the match day
“You too??” “You too?!”

typos, errors and continuity stuff

“For making it even harder to say goodbye!” Sam replies, though it seems like there’s something else she’d like to punch you for.

Should be he’d

Finally, after a long while, Sam asks, “what’re we doing?” There’s a brief pause. “What are we to each other?”

On the option to continue being friends it says “I want to stay friends. Doing long distance in college is a good idea. Those relationships never seem to work out. (✘)” when it should be isn’t a good idea
… but who’s gonna stop me lol

Sam looks down, then away. “It might, but—you’re—” he struggles to find the right words. They come out jumbled, and you see the tell-tale sheen of tears in her eyes. “I just want to keep being your best friend, not your ex.” Sam says, wetly.

Okay well, fine, Sam might stop me- but also should be his

The tall, lanky junior seems to have a long list of other extra-curricular activities that they are involved in aside from tennis. For instance, they’re the vice-chair of the Black Students Alliance (BSA).

Lee either should be a senior or should correct the infomation of their year to junior

“WHAT!!!” Sam yells, and you can already picture the excitement on her face. “YOU’RE A FUCKIN’ MAGICIAN, IS WHAT YOU ARE. Beating a junior on your first week?! God, you’re gonna take 'em by storm.”

Should be his

Soon, your has managed to locate and drag the ‘someone’ over. Dark, messy curls fall over his angular face. He has a lithe, slender build. He’s wearing faded light blue jeans, and a graphic t-shirt under a brown suede jacket. Casual, almost grunge, yet there’s something about the way he holds himself that gives him an air of effortless refinement.

Mike stops right beside him. "Guillaume, this is the neighbor I was telling you about.

Missing your RA and closing quotation mark

A beat passes before she closes the remaining gap between the two of you. He breaks into something almost akin to a genuine smile, grey eyes shining in the half-dim light. “Guillaume,” he says, leaning in for a continental kiss greeting, but slowly enough for you to duck out of it if you prefer not to.

Should be he

You snort, and allow the people around you to crowd round and read the message. Everyone around you cracks up. In fact, Mike’s laughing so hard he’s actually tearing up. “Oh my god, another contender throws her hat in the ring. This is too good.”

Should be his and on the option “I’d co-habit with Guillaume, or whatever alternative to marriage she prefers.” should be he

Mike grins at you. “You’ll tell us what the hometown BFF says, right?”

“Hell no,” you say. “I’ll do nothing of the sort.”

You know it’s just part of a ridiculous truth-or-dare game, and that Sam’ll take it as a joke more than anything else, but you still feel a small shiver of excitement in anticipation of Sam’s response.

You imagine Sam’s smile, bright and keen and wide, his infectious twinkly-eyed enthusiasm and the likely joke that he’d make before blushing. You remember his soft lips on yours, his hand on your cheek. For a brief moment, you entertain the notion of seeing him in person, and the physical feeling of just how much you miss him hits you like a train before you can get ahold of those thoughts and shake them loose from your brain.

“We’ll just have to ask him ourselves, then,” Jess concludes. The truth-or-dare game resumes, moving on to the next victim.

There’s gotta be repercutions for that when Sam visits, it’ll be too hilarious to miss :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Deepal starts the next set with so much venom that you’re certain that her tactic in the first set had simply to toy with you adnd wear you out.

Typo, should be and

“We’ll work with what we have this year,” Coach Jones concludes. “Wwe want pairs that have experience playing with each other. At the same time, change is inevitable. The best combinations for this season might look very different from what it looked like last season, or it might not.”

Typo, should be we

“I’m an idiot. I had so much time to do it in high school—and I just kept thinking, maybe I’ll do it after this. Or before that. And then it was time for Alicia to leave for college, and…” Sam’s hands ball up into fists. “And I never did. Now it’s going to be four years of being 2,778 miles apart.”

“It’s not too late,” Robin says, emphatically.

Sam stares at his. “Yes it is. What the hell is the point?”

“The point,” Robin says, throwing his hands up, “is that it’s so painfully obvious how much you like this goddamn tennis jock!” He shakes his head, and mutters, “so unrelatable.”

*coughs* S-Sam did, Sam did something, there was a kiss with my MC? Or vice-versa depending, so there was something done even if at the very end lol
Probably need to track that and not show the option "Sam’s brows knit. “Is it obvious?” " in that case.

Although, I’m not a fan of choosing for Sam literal words- maybe just at the end of the POV have Sam more or less thinking decide if should pursue MC or not and those be the choices? A more sappy route would be MC texting them a goodnight either sappily/flirty or friendly to encourage what to do

The way Rayyan throws herself around the court, does concern you a little, and you’re unable to hide the concern in your voice as you glare at Rayyan and wave her to a bench. It does at least persuade her to do as you say, however, and you she seems to be fighting down a protest at all this unnecessary ‘fussing’.

Am confused but guessing it should be just she

Sam knew you inside out. He could tell what you were about to do even before you did it. And her love for the game and pure zany enthusiasm never failed to make your heart sing from the exhilaration of playing side-by-side.

Most of all, you knew that no matter what happened, Sam would always have your back. Win or lose, Sam had always treated you with the same love and respect off-the-court. When you were upset about a loss, or nervous about a match, or losing faith in a game, she always seemed to know what to say or do to make you feel better.

Should be his and he

Blake winces. "I mean, I think she’d cry bloody murder if she’s paired with anyone other than Tobin or Deepal."ß

Wild ß found

At the end of the day, logic and sense win out, and you manage to pull yourself away from the yawning precipice.

You’re not sure what would’ve happened if you hadn’t stepped back, but you’re… mostly glad you had. The two of you had enough drama between you as it is, without adding whatever… this was.

You’re not sure what would’ve happened if you hadn’t stepped back, but you’re… mostly glad you had. The two of you had enough drama between you as it is, without adding whatever… this was.

Sighing, you follow Rayyan out of the locker room. The two of you are quiet, enveloped in your own thoughts, but she does accompany you part of the way back, peeling off only at the Main building. You walk the rest of the way back to Haynes, and soon climb into bed.

Repeated passages when choosing the option “Step back. It doesn’t take a sage to know this is a bad idea. (✘)” (hope it doesn’t come back to bite me in the butt lmao like don’t get me wrong I love chaos and messiness but not that much ya know maybe later for extra angst :relieved:)

“I could contribute finesse and fluidity, and in turn, Rayyan could shore up our defenses at the baseline,” you say. “This would be more balanced than if I partnered Rayyan, in which case our weaknesses might compound and run the risk of being exploited.”

You feel both Rayyan and Tobin’s gaze drilled into your skull. There’s a brief, tense silence.

Tobin’s the first to speak. “A different argument could be made for the fact that it might be better for doubles partners to have similar playing styles, so that they may be able to work towards the same goals. For instance, two all-court players may find much success when paired together, as would two aggressive baseliners.”

Second Rayyan should be Tobin

“After some deliberation, we think that the alternative pairings of Deepal-Rayyan, and Tobin-Alicia, may actually bear most fruit, especially where chemistry, communication, trust and respect are concerned,” Coach Jones says. “Taking everything into holistic account, we believe that this pairing would give us the best chance at weathering tough draws.”

Tobin’s eyes flick to yours. You hold your breath. Tobin’s eyes flick to yours.

Repeated text on the line above

The coaches have selected a wide range of drills, but many of them allow you to focus specifically on your volleying skills at the net.

The training session is fruitful both in sharpening your doubles-specific net play, and in making you slightly more familiar with playing alongside Tobin. After the conditioning session and team dinner, you head back to your room feeling slightly more reassured than ever that with time, you and Rayyan will make a decent doubles pair.

Another case of mistaken identity, Rayyan should be the partner

After all, it’s your first college match, and you’re playing not just in the singles, but in the doubles matches too.

And the cherry on the cake? Sam will be here soon. The excitement of seeing him again, and having her most of the weekend adds to the building anticipation.

Should be him

You agree readily enough, knowing that this could be your best bet to get at least a bit of the essay done before the weekend. After all, you wanted to have as much time with Sam as possible, when she arrived. “Cool. Maybe we could eat and work at the Haynes student lounge.” Guillaume offers. “Have you had dinner yet? I’m on my way back from Common Ground, so I could stop by somewhere along Main Street and grab something back for us if you’d like.”

Should be he

Guillaume shakes his head, still grinning. “Unbelievable,” he grumbles, though his grey eyes twinkling. “You’re washing this shirt now. I heard you varsity athletes get free laundry for your team kits and training attire.” She waves a hand at you. “And, by the way, you still have some sauce on your chin, just so you know.”

Should be he

Robin raises an eyebrow and taps the post-it now stuck to the back of Sam’s laptop. “Oi, what happened to ‘DO SOMETHING’?”

Sam groans, still gripping the pillow tightly. “That was me during a braver time,” he says. “My courage has deserted me.”

Robin snorts, and gives Sam a casual whack in the arm. That finally gets Sam to lower the pillow, if only just to glare at his roommate. “C’mon, you’ve got one night to summon it back.”

Sam’s expression has turned almost wistful. “You know, I almost did tell Alicia once.”

“I thought like, maybe I’d be able to muster up the courage after that to be like, I’m lucky to be in love with my best friend. But…” Sam shrugs. “The whole day went by and I never did it.”

Robin lays a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, for all you know, Alicia guessed it anyway. That song has like, absolutely nothing to do with graduating from high school.”

Sam frowns. “Yes it does,” he protests. “I’m lucky to have passed that goddamn woodwork class with all of my fingers intact.”

Kicking and screaming over Sam’s cheesiness but also- there was a kiss    I refuse to not have them remember it when MC can even think about it when talking about Sam to G!! And I just know G was acting as a good supportive friend so that’ll surely go well

I love this game a whole lot and it was great to come back to it to see all the new content (I think it was ages ago I last played it).

Juggling 3 romances, but I might play through again and make some different choices to see what the differences are.

One continuity issue – if you set your MC as vegetarian, Tobin probably shouldn’t make a meat-based dish for you when offering you dinner.

Could someone tell me what is the minimum grade to pass subjects in the United States? And if there is any minimum qualification to participate in club activities, I would like to know.

Was just going to mention that, and maybe it could use broadening? I picked vegetarian at Valentina’s and was served fish at Formosa, then at Tobin’s she made a vegetable stew, but when we ate there was suddenly meat in it. Maybe include vegan, piscean and lacto-ovo diets as well as omnivorous and vegetarian? But yeah, the stew is likely just an error.

The minimum grade to pass a subject is a D. F is failing. As for club activities, it can vary. C is usually the minimum grade requirements, if they have them. But, it can vary by school and their expectations of students/athletes.

@Edie_Dreyer awww thank you

@batmansrobin hahaha yaaa join me in tennis / ct:os brainrot  [P.S. Sam’s definitely not waiting patiently.] :joy:

@rozane Heh, I definitely think it’s cause you understood a little more because some folks are telling me the matches are harder after the edit! Though I also streamlined and edited the writing & flow so it could be clearer to non-tennis players now. Either way, I’m so glad the game is fun

Summary

More replies on the subpoints

I think the best gameplay option is to create two strong skills at the start then spend extra training sessions either to bolster the weaker (but still strong) second skill, or hone a third skill. I’ll also add in opportunities throughout for small stat increases so you’re more or less gonna be choosing a “main build” (e.g. finesse/tactics) right from the start, with possibility to diversify/choose your “subtype” as the game progresses (e.g. adding strength or agility or endurance to the main finesse/tactics build).

Yeah, I do think the game might require some finessing/puzzling out if you want to win all the matches (esp. The ones that are intended to be a bit harder) cause its meant to be somewhat of a challenge. So yeah, I’d say a perfect second run through and a more exploratory, narrative focused first run-through sounds about right. Or a beast mode first run-through (i.e. with the cheat) and then puzzling it out in the second run-through works as well.

This is so good to hear!! Also glad that you think the balance between tennis and school and social life makes you sweat a little hehe.

I’ll take a look at the s/v explanation in the game and spell it the first time

Haha love the little tension you’ve got here–I’d say Rayyan will give that delicious competitive/intense edge (and also be the only one who can truly understand what it feels to live and breathe tennis), while G will give balance to a very intense MC and be a refuge after a long hard day of tennis.

Yes I intentionally made it such that the skills tested in the doubles match paired with Tobin vs the match when paired with Rayyan are slightly different. You might find it easier or more difficult depending on your build. Each double match you play will differ subsequently based on your opponents and there’ll also be at least 1-2 moments where your doubles partner changes something about the match play.

@asteroidwhirlpool hahaha soon! But not in the coming update. A vague marker would be… at least some time after this weekend (in-game time).

@ChairmanMeow thanks for the detailed explanation of seeding!! I’m working on editing mention of “seeds” on the team right now and replacing them with “No. xx Ranked player” which makes more sense.

@Cloudy thanks for all the help in picking out typos and errors   :sparkling_heart:

Ah true. I do want dad to be a cop-out option but I’ll see how to phrase it so it makes sense!

:joy: I didn’t do the IB but I did the A-levels which also had a similar class. It would definitely be up G’s alley.

As for Hua and Shan being Singaporean… haha I guess it was mostly cheeky Singaporean representation.

@Okaymusician446 Hope @rozane and @JBento’s stats help!

Continuing here 'cause I’m apparently not allowed to mention more than 10 users at once.

@VelvetDivine haha nope, no poly routes.

@21_god :joy: definitely support @kckolbe’s suggestion–ya know G really likes ya when they don’t need to drown your idiocy with caffeine :stuck_out_tongue: in all seriousness though, i’ll get round to deleting the repeated line when I have access to a laptop.

@MadAdam Ah hello! always love hearing your feedback! I totally understand why you’d feel that way, I think Tobin’s reaction would absolutely put out some MCs, but dont worry, it’s not going to be like that the whole route. I think Tobin moving past overthinking the consequences of pursuing someone/something they want (e.g. their responsibility as captain, the possibility of MC losing their support system /no longer feeling comfortable on the team if things go badly between them), and just going for it(!!) is a big part of their romance route.

And hehe glad you love Deepal and Emerson, I absolutely adore them too. Humor and big muscles, what’s there not to like?

Ooh haha glad to hear CT:OS is fun on multiple run-throughs, and that Rayyan’s perspective was relatable! Haha i was a little worried the conversation with the coaches would be boring (especially after the branching on that segment ), so I’m super happy to hear it was nerve-wracking! Haha I know, Rayyan-Tobin-MC does seem like a love triangle, doesn’t it? I was thinking that to myself the other day.

Ooh!!! This is actually a really interesting idea. Maybe I will go back and add a short scene with Coach Sy’s perspective, or maybe in some other segment of the IF. We’ll see!! Thanks for the idea.

Good to hear Tobin’s POV scene gave ya the feels. You’ll see Sam again soon!!

And I promise a kiss by the end of pt. 2

HAHA oh god. Birds of the same feather stick together :stuck_out_tongue:

HAHA oh man when you describe it like that, it does sound pretty hilarious.

Awesome!! I’m looking forward to it! And in the meantime I’ll be working on the edits on the bugs you pointed out!

HAHAHAA this is hilarious!! Now I have to really make it come true (to an extent) in part 3!

Thanks for the bugs and typo reports too!

I’ll get to the rest of the comments soon

I’m here for the sweet, sweet angst. I’m headcanoning my MC as really flirty but avoidant af, so she def kissed Sam and Tobin but shut it down when given the convenient excuse of distance and Tobin’s reaction. Firmly in camp Genivive right now. I’m curious, would Genivive engage in any PDA to congratulate the MC if we do well in the big game? How would Sam and Tobin react to clocking that?

Also, just in general, I have learned so much about tennis from this work, so thank you for teaching me!

I love this story, I am not particularly fond of tennis, but this if made me research terms and playing styles of the most famous tennis players until I was able to create the right stats for my mcs, ahaha.

I love all the main and side characters, they all feel very alive. The writing style is engaging and immersive, and I commend the author for recreating an interesting, lively, and fun college environment. There are scenes, like the flamenco dance or the bridge scene, that are so endearing and sweet. Tobin, Sam and G have my whole heart.

Just played this, and I loved it! For someone who’s tennis knowledge mostly consists of tuning into the Olympics, it was highly approachable. The characters were highly charming, and even though I didn’t want to romance everyone I definitely wanted to be friends with all of them. The matches themselves were very engaging, and multiple builds were fun to try out. Personally I’m a fan of an aggressive serve-and-volley, but my forays into the other styles were a good time.

The only bug I noticed was the achievement for taking a set off Deepal doubling up, otherwise it was only typos and a pronoun error here and there. One thing I did feel was missing though, the stronger a player you are the stupider Rayyan is if you get paired. I really would have liked the opportunity to point out that we are literally an ideal match. The way I play, my style and theirs mesh perfectly, they don’t have a natural partner, and I’ve won every match I’ve been put in except the singles against Deepal. There is literally no better player on the team than me except Deepal and Tobin, who are already a proven duo with great chemistry. Splitting them up makes no sense, Rayyan needs a partner, they have nothing to be mad about with someone as proven as a successful MC. It felt the option to point that out was missing, instead only able to be like “yeah they have a point” or “no I’ll prove myself ”. Something from a more logical angle would be nice ig. It’s especially jarring after getting all hyped up and even being called a good partner by Rayyan for them to do a complete 180 and flip their shit that the coaches would dare put you two together. The whole scene just kinda felt out of nowhere.

As a side question/request: Will we ever be able to teach G how to play tennis? I think it could be a really cute date idea, and allow us to share our passion with them. I suppose the question could also apply to our other non-tennis playing friends, in a less romantic context.

Wow, convenient excuses indeed! When G’s time in college is up, will MC also use it to end things…?

Haha. First off, this will definitely be in pt. 2 of the update, so keep your eyes peeled

Some brief responses—I’ve kept it brief so as not to give everything away (blurred out in case y’all want a suprise).

Well, G would certainly come running after MC wins, and MC can initiate… a variety of PDA actions… but I won’t spoiler the consequences of that! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Sam (if flirted with before) would definitely feel pretty strongly about that (depending on what MC does), and Tobin would be… looking on and possibly telling themselves that they’re the ones who told MC they didn’t want to pursue things further, so they can’t exactly complain now.

So impressed and amazed that you’re getting into tennis partially because of the IF! @notapretzel and @VelvetDivine! I love that you’re tinkering around with different builds in the game and researching famous tennis players!

Oh my goodness, this is so sweet. I’m especially happy that you enjoyed the little moments like the flamenco / water-falling/bridge scene, which I hope flesh out the story and make the characters and college life in the IF unique and memorable.

HAHAH. Of course, I could never resist reeling you in further! :fishing_pole_and_fish: Hehe. Wait till you get to the “Only one bed” trope with Sam  [Not in the upcoming update though].

<Oh no, klutzy fingers pressed post too soon.>

@apple Whoo, welcome! Glad you’re enjoying the fic, and thank you so much for your praise! I really appreciate it, and am happy you’re enjoying the characters and matches. :fireworks:

Wow! I love that you’re actually a fan of aggressive serve-and-volley, I think you’re one of the rare ones! I’m planning a mini-game for serves soon (the last stat that didn’t get it’s own “show off” training drill after the run, the strength conditioning test, and the devil’s dozen).

Oh gotcha, thanks for letting me know! I’ll fix it before Pt. 2.

Haha I hear you! I’ve re-worked the scene a couple of times since releasing it the first time, but I’ll definitely see what I can do to add an option for players to “boast” / list their achievements in the next update, though this might require a re-play of that chapter for it to show.

Hehe, actually, YES! I’ve been planning a cute “teach G to play tennis” segment (possibly with Addie, Jordan, and D included—do people prefer this to be a fun “hallmate fun chaos” type thing with some possible G-romance moments, or a purely G-only thing?). It won’t be in the next update though, too many things to cover.

On a sidenote, I’ve also been thinking of including a segment where Sam-visits and plays doubles since forever. And a segment where MC gets to play mixed doubles with Felix (and the opposite gender team). All of those are not yet planned in detail or slotted into the overall outline of the IF, but they’re definitely things I’m toying with!
