Does anyone have a guide on how to get Tobin or rayan as your partner because I can’t seem to get either them during my play through.
You need to place 4th in the rankings, and then do well in doubles. Rayyan is, ironically the easiest of the two to get, as to get Tobin you need to win the doubles you play with him and LOSE the doubles you play with Rayyan. Winning both gets you Rayyan.
Tactics doesn’t have one either, but I don’t really mind that (though would love more tactics checks not linked to finesse).
I don’t know what the S/V challenge will be, but I can’t wait. It’s such an easy dump stat, and this will make those players pay hard, all while Emerson good-naturedly ribs everyone as they die from exhaustion (assuming mistakes include running or something else tiring, maybe something upper body related to mix it up from the finesse challenge).
I’m actually a little shocked that that’s the case, it immediately called out to me. Especially combined with Finesse and a bit of Tactics you can get right up in your opponents face and just overwhelm them. A strong S/V game is very satisfying, and it doesn’t feel like any of the others are super used to it, even with Emerson on the team.
That’s awesome to hear! I think having it as a hallmate thing where you can get some “one on one training” with G would be best, so the non-G lovers don’t feel deprived.
HAHA yup! Thanks for helping out
Just a quick addition: Tobin’s a little harder to get if you’re 4th or 5th, but you can swap to Tobin a little more easily (if you’re ranked 6th and get Emerson, or if you’re assigned to Rayyan and Tobin feels sorry for you after their outburst) compared to swapping to Rayyan (if you get Tobin and they notice your disappointed reaction, they’ll offer to swap but you’ll face a slightly more difficult task convincing the coaches—Rayyan would also have to agree.)
I might make a full walk-through / guide on getting the doubles partner of your dreams and put it somewhere if folks find it handy?
Gotcha! Yeah, agree on more tactics + non-finesse options. As of now tactics is still most likely to be paired with Finesse, but sometimes with Endurance. Maybe I’ll look at adding some Tactics + strength, finesse, or agility options in the upcoming singles and doubles matches, so hope that helps!
I definitely think you’ll enjoy the S/V drill!
I remember you mentioning that S/V is a dump stat as of now, so consider this (really belated) work in response to that piece of feedback Also, love the idea of Emerson smirking at everyone as they finally get their chance to shine.
Yeah!! I totally agree with you, I actually think S/V + Finesse is one of my favorite builds to play, personally. Mostly because I have no patience and love picking the “LETS GO ALL IN, GUNS A-BLAZING” option. And, like you say, it’s super satisfying to get the feeling we’re completely overwhelming our opponents / taking them by surprise by going on the attack right from the start.
But I think (in real life and in-game, I hope) not playing so offensively is usually a safer option as I usually reserve slightly easier stat checks for players to choose the “ok I bide my time” option, so long as they have sufficient endurance or condition.
Thanks for weighing in! I think you’re right, would be nice to get some nice hallmate bonding going on

Haha, you absolutely called it!
By the second challenge match (Jacks), the stat checks are often of two or more types of combinations that involve a specific stat, so a 3-stat build is superior to a 2-stat build because it’s more able to suit a variety of ‘adjacent’ checks.
More nerding out about mechanics.
E.g. Hypothetical checks involving S/V related choices over the course of 1 match:
Check 1: (Strength > 30) and (S/V > 30)
Check 2: (Strength + Finesse) > 60
Check 3: (S/V > 30) and (Finesse > 30)
Check 4: (Tactics > 30) and (S/V > 30)
A really strong 2-stat build (e.g. S/V + strength) build would pass only 1 check, but a balanced 3-stat build (e.g. S/V + Strength + Finesse) would pass 3 out of 4.
4-stats is usually a bit over-kill because it means lower overall stats, and run the risk that Checks 1-3 may not be passed.
Of course, the example above is only hypothetical, and sometimes the choices available do not line up exactly. But as a general rule of thumb? 3-stat builds give more options, 2-stat builds can sometimes work if you’re lucky, and 4-stat builds work as long as the ‘main three’ are strong enough.
Me. I’m a very “go big or go home” kinda gal with this kind of stuff. I’d much rather win or lose faster than drag things out for 3 giant sets. My usual build is a three part S/V, Strength, Finesse build, with Tactics as a fairly strong fourth. It’s actually pretty fun to try and optimize and get everything in a useable state. Generally I find 3 stat builds much stronger than two stat builds, simply so that you have a higher chance of being able to check a relevant stat. I think four is the highest you could reasonably go without crippling yourself, while two leaves you over specialized and often lacking a choice that caters to your skill set specifically.
I don’t know if this balance is intentional, but I think it works.
Not just smirking. Emerson is kind of a loud mouth. Trash talking of some kind, even playful, needs to be present.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a score out of 100 on our first sociology test (the surprise test) if the answer is yes, how do I get it?
I’m in favour of the hall shenanigans+ for the first. It feels like I don’t really get to hang out with my hallmates much between tennis and classes. For the second, I’m all for mixed doubles with Felix, I want to know more about him (and it’s totally not because I’m a coffeeholic in real life, what would make you think that? )
Best you can do at suprise test is 84 at moment, 1 point shy of having the best score(damn G ) but above everyone else that we know off!
But is there a certain skill I should focus on because I keep changing on which skill to increase during my play through?
I THINK someone posted the checks upthread? You definitely shouldn’t spread your points around too much, 3-4 skills tops.
If looking to optimize, go str and agi with some stam early on, aggressive baseliner hits all of those. That’s your best bet for getting the bonus attributes on agi and str, makes the rest of the game easier.
Well if what you’ve got planned for Part 2 is anthing to go by I think I can wait for this (But that said you’ve got me hook, line and sinker like a sucker)
I’m totally up for MC and Sam just straight wrecking people in Mixed Doubles.
For what its worth, I’d much rather the scene with the hallmates learning tennis over G solo but if you can include either or as an option to keep everyone happy that would be ideal I guess.
Yeah Emerson being a “finance bro” kind of strikes me as what we Aussies would call a Larrikin - "is an Australian English term meaning “a mischievous young person, an uncultivated, rowdy but good hearted person” (Mostly used back in WWII era times but the spirit lives on)
In short, He’s a loudmouth dick but he’d be first to roll up to back his mates up if push came to shove.
Oh, definitely. I think G is an attractive option for my MC because G is a pretty “safe” option. Their tryst will end in a year, and even if it blows up, it won’t affect tennis the same way a breakup with Tobin might or possibly heck up a lifelong friendship like pursuing something with Sam would.
I was initially going to say that a G-only scene would be rad, but after reading others’ responses, I think a Hallmate event would be great. I love the idea of my MC constantly trying to get some alone time with G but being unable to shake D or Addie off.
I’m so torn. I really want to go an Agility, Finesse, and Tactics route lol
It would be pretty fun to see everyone’s reaction especially Emerson’s if we can pull the same trick we did with our first game against emerson in the official season game.
everyone post their favorite playing style. for me its junk baller. I will be honest I picked it mainly because of the name, but I do like the build it sets you up with. finesse + tactics is an invaluable combo, and agility + endurance can be surprisingly good when it needs to. I know that the all court player also sets you up with finesse and tactics, but there are certain points in the game where you dont have time to think and need to act right now, and that’s where agility and endurance come into action.
I also like it because it gives me a lot of fun with nicknames. I WILL name my character something grungy like scrapyard or trash compactor, and it WILL have a nice ring to it.
I too like this style because it feels like the ultimate troll move.
You can blame me for being to much weeb, but because i read this tenis manga “baby step” I try to mimic the mc “Ei-chan” playing styles… And i think All-court player is the one nearest to this mc, trying to be all rounded A player
