Civil War: Liberty or Union! (WIP)

Bossomesauce man. Bossomesauce.

@BraveMustang I like this game and it might be my favorite WIP. Are you still working on this? This game needs to continue.

Yeah, how is everything going with this. I would have posted sooner, but preparing for school has had my mind elsewhere.

@Msox99 and @joejoe21

Yes, I am still continuing with this. Actually you get an update right now…Due to the lack of interest/activity on this thread/me going back to school, I’ve become slightly lazy with this…however I don’t ever plan to stop, I enjoy this too much…

UPDATE-------
Includes the new scene “1850’s”, along with punctuation changes, and completely re-writting the scene at West Point…also due I changed Maryland to Pennsylvania, and changed some of the names in the female section…

Also I’ve come up with some of the achievements for this game so far…I’ll leave them here and let you speculate…
*Don’t Tread On Me
*Vita Ad Fabulas
*Return Of A Legend
*Honesty Does Kill
*Now That’s Overkill
*Sea To Shining Sea
*Diplomacy is OP!

I like the update and picking sides.

Awesome man. Lovin it.
PS Yeah I got school starting next week to. Not looking forward to sophomore year.

If the “Diplomacy Is OP!” achievement isn’t the one for prompting Anglo-French mediation, I’ll be immensely disappointed.

I love historical games. Since there’s two sides it increase replayability. The only thing that could go bad is if you would *demonise* one side and make a good guys bad guys situation. Keeping both armies in a grey area would be smart. Its alway fun when there’s moral dilema that aren’t considered good or evil so we start doubting our own belief and possibly switch sides in the middle of the war. I greatly encourage you to keep going.

@Jumms Shhhhh ;)…your correct…I’m just trying to decide whether to have your character be directly a diplomat that causes the intervention, or if your actions as a general cause the intervention…

@cyanide Yeah, I want to focus on the re-play ability which is why each side will have a couple of unique battles to them. In terms of demonizing…well if your on the opposite side of someone in a war of course everything they do will be “evil” to you or your character…if your referring to condemning Sherman’s March, or glorifying “The South Shall Rise Again” well I’ll try my best…

Of yeah, I’ve added the feature (not here but on my own files) of subordinates when your a general, so you have the option of working along people such as Sherman, Thomas, Jackson and etc depending on what side your on.

Just a general statement that of something that I’m CONSIDERING doing…theres a chance that I won’t be adding anything FORWARD of what you have right now (with the Union/Confederate decision being the ending) what I plan on doing is adding the West Point Scene (roughly 6-7k) for everyone, and then doing a closed beta test with the completed game.

Can i suggest my name as a beta tester? This game might end up being my second tin star so i would be delighted to help you with it. And by demonising i meant making one side clearly evil end the other super good, like for exemple the union being democraty knights and the confederate evil slavers or such. I am not a supporter of the confederate but i can see some points they had wich make sense. If i remember correctly, the confederate had afro-american regiments. The union had native american regiments as well so being a native american could maybe be ingeresting. It could be implemented trough choosing your state so instead of coming from an american state, you could come from apache or comanche territory as an options. Hey! Maybe even have another path for a native american trying to sabotahe both sides and regain some of his clan territory or something in this genre. It would certainly add replayability.

@cyanide yeah sure! I’ll “tag” you and a couple of other people when I eventually post that thread…

*confederacy/union both had native tribes, while the union had afro-american regiments first and the confederacy only reluctantly added them at the end of the war.

*eyes shine brightly* I LIKE THAT IDEA! you can play as a general for either side (in real world native americans did serve as generals) and at the end you can force a Fallout New Vegas type ending where you and your troops (say if they were loyal enough) forced either the confederate or union president to let you have your tribal lands back…

***maybe even a european approach (since I do realize the majority of people on here are not American) where you play as a general, but are a secret european (french/british) agent and believe that the USA should belong to the mother country

Im very happy to know i motivated you to add more content to your game! And european could really be awesome. Heck, maybe even backstabing everyome to give territory back to mexico! Anyway, glad i had such a productive night but now thats its 9 am, time for bed.

.< murica will not be beaten by European spies! *guards the link to the game*

Loving it… If you need a betatester, I am up for it, too. School is starting in a few weeks, though.

I would really like a European approach, too.

A question for everyone…I’ve been seeing praise for the game on this and other pages (which I greatly appreciate), but nothing specific. So my question is, what do you like best about the game so far? Any parts, or characters, or actions?

So I’m going to try and post a link to the game for each “page” and here it is

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/273123971/web/mygame/index.html

Also, @cyanide @Razgriz and @Gostlool A European approach will be something that is implemented either during the closed beta test, or shortly before. I want West Point finished first.

Finally, next update includes pictures!!

@BraveMustang What I like most about the game is the impact our character can have in whatever path we choose. I also think ethnicity should play out in the story because minorities were also allowed to participate in the Civil War. Finally will there be romance options in this game

@joejoe21 I’m going to try to…Im not the best at coding, but I have plans to include romance.

UPDATE------
This is probably my last update for this week as I go back to school tomorrow, and am busy with activities…so

* pictures!!!
*more content to the West Point scene with you choosing your major (if your a female I added something special if you take the tour and stay up front)
*small changes to the stats screen.

@BraveMustang “you briefly notice a scar in the shape of a scar”

Also, the name-entry bug seems to still be there.

Well, what do I like about it, specifically?

That will be the setting. I really dig historical stuff, and especially stuff that is set in a time of war…

@BAPACop *star, shape of a star. I’ll fix both errors later.
