I wonder how much Perception you need before the telepathy and mind reading kick in.
Thank you so much.
I also have another question. Iāve read that West might be the oldest of the Dominus (If he is a viking) how old the others Dominus are? more or less? In my mind, i imagine that Padre Carlos and Guilleume are the second oldest (is just a thought). Anyone have any theory?
Edit: I think i would make a list here with the orther of what i presume are the oldest to the youngest of the dominus.
1th: West: ok, Iāve just read that West is 1200 years old, yep, heās the oldest by far.
2th Padre Carlos: if what @MisterJB said is true, Padre Carlos is about 300 years old. Born at the beginning of the 1600s, probably.
3th Guillaume de Sainte-Chapelle: From a text fragment from @justme be can see that he was a mortal during the Affair of the poisons, from 1660s till 1682.
4th Fernando de Villanueva e Itamaraca: Apparently the piracy was more prominent from 1660s to 1730s. But it started near the 1520 so can be possible that Fernando de Villanueva e Itamaraca could be younger or older than Wallace Winter and Guillaume, Iām just gonna say heās older than Wallace and younger than Guillaume. Also, maybe Iām missing something, but his friendship with Jean Lafitte doesnāt mean that they knew each other before Villanueva became a vampire, just that they are friends, or, as far as Iām concern, thatās how i see it.
5th Wallace Winters: I also found that Wallace Winters evaded Jack Ketch (1630-1686) so heās about 150 years old at the beginning of the game. I also put him here because Iām more inclined to think that he escaped from Ketch around the 1800s. When Ketch was well known and at the top of his game, just before his downfall
6th Pieter van der Velde: Donāt know how old is Pieter exactly but because of his clothes from the 1700s, I presume heās about 100 years old or maybe less.
P.S: Its quite hard to establish whoās the oldest between Wallace, Fernando and Guillaume, so i just put them in the positions that I think fit them. I might be completely wrong with the order of these 3 because is quite posible that the 3 of them were mortals around the same time
I think Carlosā age is established when his ascension to the rank of Praetor is being discussed.
He isā¦400, I think?
Oh wait, I had forgotten to take into account that St.Louis takes place on the cusp of the 20th century.
So, Padre Carlos would actually be somewhere around 300 years old.
Oh, thanks, I will change it. But i think heās still the second or third oldest one (Because I canāt exactly point Guillaume in a specific time in history)
For example?
This is what de Sainte-Chapelle says if he thinks heās a god:
āAh, divinity is a fluid thing. It is unfortunate that you will never attend one of the Black Masses that used to be held outside of Versailles. The young courtiers were so baffled by the flow of power in the court of the Sun King that they turned to Lucifer himself for succor. Little did they realize that the power was not above or below, but rather right beside them. I must admit, I did attend some of those events as a mortal, but it was out of a morbid curiosity, not any sort of actual devotion. And it was there that I encountered Radegunda. She taught me what true power is.ā
Therefore, we know he was a mortal during the reign of Louis XIV, between 1643 and 1715.
Edit: Assuming itās a reference to The Affair of the Poisons, we can narrow this down to the period of the late 1660s and 1670s.
I didnāt know about this, thanks a lot @justme. And yep, I knew about the affair of the posions because of the tv show of Versailles (Yep, not the best potrayal of events, but I read about the historial event after that)
With this in mind, heās the third oldest among them, or about the same age as Villanueva e Itamaraca. Iām just gonna put him in the 3th place for now.
But this also bring two more questions, yep, yep. Sorry about all of this.
First question: If West is 1500 years oldā¦that means he was born around 400 a.dā¦which makes him quite old, and that means he was in Europe for quite some time before going to America around the 9th or 10th century.
Second question: When Sainte-Chapelle talks about being mortal he mentions Radegunda, is she the historical figure? Because she is from the 500s. So his Dominum is really old and probably one of the ancients, around the same age as West
Probably not, but both her name and the name of her domina, Aregund, imply they were born in the early middle ages. She is not, however, listed under the ancients tab.
Unlikely, given that his sire, Buljan, is said to have been a bastard prince of Kiev, which was only founded in AD 482.
It has also been stated that heās 1200 years old, which makes more sense:
You guys! Iāve playing and replaying as different MCs and please! I need help! How do I get that book that you are all talking about? Is it the one Andrew Calkins mentions to us?
Also who the eff is Consul Sostrate? That bish is haunting the dreams of both the preacher in Memphis and the fortune teller in St Louis.
She can even see all parallel realities, so she might as well have mastered this bookās complex code.Consuls used to be elected once upon a time, before they became dictators. So Sostrate must have preceded Adonis. And sheās somehow related to West too? No wonder that guy is so powerful.
Also, wow, I actually managed to become Tribune in one of my playthroughs. Hiram was diablerized and Memeskia saved us, only to then murder a bunch of people. Is there a way to talk him out of this madness? I think Iāve tried talking him down. :-/
Also it turns out if your willpower and shapeshifting are high enough, you can simply beckon animals to you and drink from them. This is like if the world went down and everyone was starving but you have a lifetime supply of celery and I LOVE it! My poor MC just roams about, drinking in the scent of mortal flesh, and I totally relate to her. Like when you smell fresh veggie pizza but youāre an idiot vegan.
I think thatās through Bowater?
Did you manage to get him to give you the book, though? In my playthroughs, Andrew never tells me about the book unless Iām trying to throw him off the cliffs or whatever. And then when I meet Abel, of course he doesnāt acknowledge our āmutual friendā, unlike in playthroughs where I help Andrew.
I think you have to āhelpā (or at least not impede) Andrew in order to have Bowater talk about the book. The other person who talks about a book regarding āShepherds and Wolvesā is Lockridge I think.
Any advice on earning Profiteer in Memphis?
Maloy mentions Ashmore and her involvement with the banks in Philadelphia but I canāt bring it up with Ashmore in 1877.
New Orleans:
- Choosing to improve your relationship with Estefania.
- āTell me, how do you understand our condition, when it seems that God has forsaken us?ā/āTell me, how can you continue to believe in God when vampires exist?ā
- āWhat is this debate, of shepherds and wolves?ā (If you have Perception 1 and French, you donāt have to ask this one, youāll hear about it during Overstreetās visit.)
Vicksburg:
- Helping Calkins blow up the depot. (Wanting things to go back to normal is a reason that wonāt anger Withers.)
Memphis:
- Asking Bailey and Patridge where the terms Shepard and Wolf come from at the first reception.
- Asking Bowater about the manuscript at the second reception.
St. Louis:
- Writing to Bowater during the first werewolf segment and acknowledging/trading a debt in exchange for the manuscript.
Youāll get a special scene for dealing with the manuscript. Reading the manuscript itself or a direct transript requires Intelligence 3, Willpower 3 and Latin. Reading an updated Latin copy requires Latin. Reading a translated copy has no requirements (except perhaps literacy?). This can get quite expensive, however, and you have to deal with the translator for the latter two (I recommend murder).
Got this when arriving at St. Louis:
The two stand at your entrance and extend their hands in greeting. āMr. Aucoin. I did not expect to have the pleasure of your company again so soon.@(invitation_to_st_louis = ācoffinā) You should thank Abigail for speaking on your behalf.|}ā
Thank you so much @CaballeroDeAndromeda and @justme!
I donāt ever ask Bailey and Partridge about the Shepherd and Wolf thing and I rarely ever help Calkins but Iāll do it now!
āif debt_from_carothers and ((strength >= 2) and (strength < 6))ā
Does Carothers have Strength 6? Because if so, holy hell, has he ever heard of overspecialization? Thatās two levels above West.
Itās even weirder if you consider the fact that heās only a little bit older than the MC.
I keep getting the three Spaniards bug when I play as a Spanish MC. If I remember correctly, the dominus - in this particular play through - was the French nobleman.
Suggestion for consuming Estefania: When West drank the heartsblood of that Italian man I remember reading like a paragraph or two about his life. It was a brief scene but I really like it. Maybe it could be revealed though her heartsblood if she was in Havana with Fernando and why she tried to deny her presence on the island.
