Choice of the Vampire - community input [SEE POST 1305]

Hm, if I recall, the atrocities that the PC commits are indeed being tracked. The more atrocities that they commit, the more they lose Humanitas, and as such, the closer they are to succumbing fully to the Beast and entering Wassail or the equivalent of it. As a matter of fact, there is a way for the PC to test it. If they have committed too many atrocities, the presence of silver will be very uncomfortable for them, a rather ominous indicator that they are dangerously close to completely losing their Humanitas.

aren’t the wolven vampires(vampires who follows wolf philosophy) in danger because of that ?

Can you give me a stat/big choice guideline for the Quaestor non-standard game over?

simple just have status 4, you need the governor favour the only way for you to achieve status 4

when you reach the end of the demo the governor will ask who should become the queastor just choose yourself

i know this one because i managed to get my status high but gave i it to sabine out of fear unable to become quaestor myself

Well, given the Wolves’ view of humanity, it is possible that they may be more predisposed towards callousness towards humans. That said, they may not necessarily be rampant in inflicting casual cruelty upon humans, out of pragmatism and self-preservation, if nothing else.

On the other hand, Shepherds may not necessarily be better in this regard, as it might be possible for a Shepherd to justify committing atrocities if they believe humanity as a whole will be better for it in the long-term.

what about the opportunist or the uncertain one like abigail coffin senator of cincinnati ?

senator lockridge comment during the memphis election says otherwise

Well, what even the most ardent Wolf preaches and what they actually practice may differ. The Rule of Reserve, the Masquerade, is in place for good reason, after all.

The Shepherd/Wolf axis is not the only one that contributes to determining how well one can maintain their Humanitas, though it is certainly one of the important variables.

That said, given the Wolves’ position, it would not be difficult for me to think that they follow something akin to the Sabbat Paths of Enlightenment rather than the Via Humanitatis.

so in other words they have higher risk losing control of their beast ?

Hm, well, Compassion and Discretion do not seem too dissimilar to the virtues of Conscience and Self-Control. Those things are crucial for keeping the Beast in check, here as in V:tM. A Wolf might hypothetically have low Conscience and high Self-Control, to continue with the analogy. In such a case, they would not commit frenzied crimes in the throes of passion, but it would be a cold, calculated monstrosity based upon whether they stood to benefit from it in some way. Of course, with a low Conscience, they would feel no guilt or remorse for the deed and thus be more likely to lose Humanitas.

In that framework, I suppose one might say that an adherent of the Wolf ideology could be at a higher risk of succumbing to the Beast.

There is scene in vol.1 where that famous painter visits New Orleans. A man named Draper apparently interjecting himself between Fernando and that painter. Was he flirting with her and was angry at the interruption? If so, then, the man has balls. In this playthrough, my dominus was Fernando and had turned MC vampire because he was attracted to her.

This question isn’t important.

I’m a little sad at the fact that Memeskia doesn’t want to form a relationship with MC, whom is his broodmate. Memenskia could ask questions like ā€œWhy do you think West chose to turn you?ā€. We could respond like ā€œI proved value to him becauseā€¦ā€ And ā€œWest seemed to have loved me. I suppose that might not be the case anymoreā€¦ā€.

When Clotho dies and leaves a letter but MC is illiterate, Jesse asks about our relationship with her. Was he actually jealous?

A while ago I asked about West’s physical traits so I can draw him. It has been really difficult. I can’t get a good enough image in my head. Though I might be able to draw Jesse…give a physical traits to work with … Please Jason!

Does solving Aichinger’s baseball vs his establishment problem actually make him indebted to you? Because even if I do so, I am never able to make him support me as Quaestor of St. Louis, even if I told him that I am solving his problem in exchange for a debt.

Shit, I’ve been exposed… !

solving his establishment problem he might owe you a debt but if your status in the society is too low you can’t get him for you to repaid it. for him to actually indebted you is simple, you need to kill dieter aichinger his descendant

Hm, how are others doing with the new valet in St, Louis? It is possible for the relationship to deteriorate to the point that they try to have the PC killed by being exposed to the sunlight.

It has never been a problem for me, as my priest does his best to be a kind and generous employer. Unsurprisingly, he chose Maeve as the new valet, as she would be a fellow Catholic. As he did with providing Wilson a farm and Franklin with enough funds to escape Memphis and establish himself wherever he wished, he did the same for Maeve in paying a generous salary to help ensure her loyalty. There was the one incident where Maeve pricked her finger, and my priest did not have sufficient Willpower to resist licking the blood away, but his other actions on Maeve’s behalf smoothed over the situation.

My priest did pay for her nephew, Thomas, to be sent to the sanitarium to try healing his morphine addiction. Despite Thomas’ unfortunate adverse reaction to the treatment and dying, Maeve was nonetheless grateful for my priest’s generosity. He gave her a day off to enjoy with the man that she had found and provided some money that Maeve’s newborn daughter could later access. My priest also performed a serious renovation project for the haven, and Maeve was delighted with the new living quarters. Maeve was also glad that my priest paid for the widow with tuberculosis to be sent to the sanitarium so that she could at least live her final days in peace and comfort.

I’ve a question, now that we’re deciding how to keep our valet in St. Louis quiet. How did we keep our previous valets quiet?

Threats, blackmail, compulsion, or a generous salary

I’ve a suggestion. When you’re preparing for West, it would be really cool if if you had a certain value of intelligence + technology to invent something like a molotov cocktail. Would be a pretty cool use of technology, and a flammable liquid in a glass bottle + a handkerchief or something on fire isn’t a super technologically advanced invention.

I second this–high-Tech vampires usually lack the combat skills to not be killed by him, which means that I must sacrifice roleplay and immersion (my character would go back to help Hiram and/or Sabine) in order to continue my high-Tech vamp’s story. An area-denial weapon such as a rudimentary explosive would be effective even against a shape-shifting opponent; maybe it could be locked behind Tech 3?

Also there is no choice of prey that boosts technology–maybe clockmakers and/or engineers (in later games)?

I like the idea of having a savvy techy be able to make a sort of explosive that would help with fighting West. However, it seems that the Molotov first really appeared in the Spanish civil war (which was after this era). However the idea of grenade has been around since ancient times. It is also around the time (1908) where the first ā€œmodernā€ grenade was created. So perhaps the MC could make a similar one and even make improvements that would effectively deal with battling a vampire.
