Choice of the Pirate Discussion

I tried to become pirate king and help the crown take san alfonso but in the epilogue san alfonso is simultaneously saved and destroyed. at the beginning im hailed as the savior but then everyone is sitting around mourning for the destroyed city and then nothing thats the end of the epilogue…

We’re working on a patch today for all the bugs reported so far. We hope to have it out tonight or tomorrow.

I enjoyed it. It was a fun romp through the seas and had that feeling from Choice of Broadsides, being of similar settings but with different perspectives.

A couple thoughts:
I found it was a biiit on the short side. Not really a serious complain, but I think the parts with the Lusca or the ghost ship could have been expanded and added a bit more complexity. The resolution felt like it came too soon-ish, too easy. It’s still good as it is, though.

I’ll admit, the cover felt like a subtle bait for me when I finished the first playthrough xD. I kinda assumed the two pirates on the cover to be Adelaide and Blackguard (I mean, he certainly seems to fit the picture with the description options!), and with the option of wanting to join her crew, I thought we’d see more of Adelaide at some point. But I didn’t at least, and I felt disappointed. She certainly sounded like an interesting character and the cover image looks badass. A shame.

Still on the characters, it seemed pretty obvious El Sabio was the Pirate King, but then I thought it could be a blatant bait and switch since people didn’t take the idea seriously, only to find he really was the King. Then again, why introduce a completely new character just at the last chapter, right? I wonder if the lion figurehead was supposed to be something more than a weird detail, though…

Since some people brought it up, I too found that bug with the Sea Queen when the game says you’re not using it as the flagship, but later I put myself under Anne’s command and the bug didn’t show up, so it may just be a matter of what paths are chained together.

Speaking of Anne, I had the same problem regarding the romance with her where the epilogue gave a fairly generic end to the romance, as in, not saying a thing at all about it. On a second playthrough though, I made her my captain when I bought Niña Bella (though I don’t think that had any impact on the ending), later on, got her to try to commit to a serious relationship, and then became the Pirate King. The epilogue was much more satisfying, with Anne not holding it against you and co-ruling together. It’s a bit downplayed, but in my opinion, I think she also becomes a better person, too. Since Timina felt like the ‘good friend’ sort to me, waifu Anne is the best

Overall, a very good choice to spend an afternoon playing.

I’ve achieved one of the hidden achievements, but still have the other two to find… can anyone tell us what they are? I’ve enjoyed the game, but have left a couple of listed achievements out because I have issues with colonialism!

Will the patch go live on Steam around the same time it goes live for mobile devices?

You are right on that one, Anne is a hard one to romance I’ve tried a few times and still haven’t figured it out. That’s the biggest peeve I have so far though I’ll let you know if I figure it out I’m doing a play through right now.

For starting the romance? Join in on her joke, as a side kick. Stroke her ego, not try to match it. That’s an obvious though. From there, try to impress her from time to time, but don’t really try to best her. Once you’ve asked her to be your partner when she assigns you the task of searching the hidden bay, idk from then lol. Stilllll gotta play through that

That’s about as far as I got as well. I keep messing it up some where.

When she hires you, you need to tell her that you want to be her equal.

Her equal rather than her lover?
I told her I wanted to be her lover and she said okay about it all. I got to the end and she wasn’t even mentioned?!

This one: I’ll take the job, but I want terms that mean my relationship

Well, guess that answers that question.

I did that already, twice. It didn’t mention her again at the end of the game.
Under normal circumstances, the end would come with an explanation as to how the relationship turned out, as it did with Caeser. Instead, the last time you hear about Anne after asking for a relationship is if you go by her ship after you defeat the sea monster. She’s never mentioned again after that.

I actually explained in my previous post the choices you have to make to get an acknowledgement of the romance with Anne.

The turning point is obviously the convo in which she asks/hires you to investigate the Pirate King and the bay. This has already been said. You tell her you want an actual, committed relationship and she’ll agree as long as her relationship meter is high enough (shouldn’t be a problem, it’s pretty easy to get those up quickly).

To get the romance ending with Anne, you have to accept to become the Pirate King. The epilogue will say you both ruled together, among other things. Hope this helped

Did you have att last 70 of relationship with Anne?

spoiler alert

Just finished my first play through. I died after luring the crown and became a ghost ship. Not my ideal ending so I guess I’ll go through it again. I initially wanted to become the pirate King but the opportunity never presented itself in the end which was confusing for me coz I was determined to kill el sabio for the title.

A little tip, to hide things in a spoiler box like this do

[spoiler] and after that do [dot/spoiler] but without that “dot” there.

Hey just a quick question: is the ghost an RO option, May warn you I just want to know before I purchase the rest of the chapters AND out of curiosity.

You mean Granny…? :cold_sweat: No. The female ROs are Anne Read and… I honestly forgot the other ones name. The sea Mage gal whose name is flying over my head.
