I just bought the game as an early Christmas gift for myself and iv played the demo but haven’t been able to get my robot to call me father again can anyone tell me how to get them to do it without typeing it?
I… Is it possible to die there? My robot always does it for me and I didn’t know it was possible.
@Lys
Thank ya’!
Tell Zieglar that the robot will be ready to get Juliet to show up, then go with her to knife throwing. After that the romance should happen quite naturally as long as you choose the ‘date’ options with her.
As a general bug report, she never actually told me that she is going to go knife throwing, my character just has the option to go knife-throwing.
@vampirekid222
When you make them, if you have your robot face you first then you can identify yourself as Father, I believe.
Humm I didn’t get that scene this time I guess I’ll play again.
Ok, file this as a game I am in love with. I’m actually purchasing it a second time on Steam so I have it downloaded onto my computer (which is particularly useful while taking the train up and down the West Coast over the next few days).
Ok, in one of my increasingly numerous playthroughs I hit on an incongruity in the text: Even if married to Juliet, I get the same text for the Vegas airport departure as I would if not married. “I think she really does like me” just feels a bit odd to say regarding one’s spouse and a slight rephrase might be nice there.
Edit: This is turning into a bit of a bug hunt, but if Tammy was arrested after the factory fire (and indeed also tried to blow me up), there should probably be a different text on the clearance forms about her currently being deep in jail rather than “hoping someone takes her away”.
Edit2: And this applies again later (her jumping robots in the Empathy chapter)…why doesn’t that woman end up on some sort of institution on a long-term basis at that point? Between the two attacks and the clearance forms (if not the call to the cops from early on as well), there should probably be some sort of impact on the game from all that.
@Gray I also found out that somehow tammy/silas likes sending bombs to my house randomly. I had cleared it up with them on the article and guess what I got? A bomb. Oh well, never really liked the right arm anyways.
Yet another bug I found:
If you move to Canada post-war to get married to a companion bot, the game still reacts as if you’d fled the US during the war. Again, it’s not much of a fork but it feels awkward.
There’s also another bit of Tammy stalking around the house even after I offered to hire her; that feels like another rarely-traveled fork that wasn’t resolved.
Edit: My best guess is this…there are enough oddball paths to follow that not all are going to get fixed up even in a reasonably well-tested release (witness some of the bugs that seem to survive in games such as some of the Fallout series). With some of these games, the forking is such that we’ll probably be finding oddities like this for a few years if we keep trying.
While I’m here and on this, is there any way to actually finish your duplicate self (and have it able to speak, etc.)?
The Silas/Tammy stalking may not be a bug; even if hired, I can see someone not socially adept still keeping a close eye on you.
@Gray I’d suggest taking all of the bugs and inconsistencies you’ve noticed (even if you’re not certain about whether or not they are bugs) and emailing the support at choiceofgames email address. Choice of Robots is huge, horribly complicated and there are bound to be some errors there.
@Gray You can get a successful duplicate, but I don’t know what stats you need. I usually had high autonomy/empathy and decent humanity.
I think you need a low combat stat or something. But, the first 3 times I played the game Tammy went crazy with her glock and my robot was useless… Although I did happen to get the terrible achievement 3 times straight which always heightens your mood.
I love this game so far, and I made a forum account just to ask a couple questions I cannot figure out.
1. Is it possible to have your robot successfully beat Juliet in combat during the demonstration? I’ve tried maximizing military or grace prior to, but miserably failed. I tried getting both military and grace as high as possible prior, think both were 13 or over, and still failed miserably. I plan to try maxing autonomy next in an effort to win, but I really don’t see how autonomy would be the answer. Hm…maybe I’ll try getting military/autonomy as high as possible next instead, since that at least might make sense.
2. Is the password your robot finds useful for anything other than the achievement? I’ve tried using it as a first/last name, nothing, tried using it as a name for your robot, nothing, and tried naming the character’s child with it and nothing there either. I assume it does have a use since the Statue of Liberty makes mention that is the only thing you actually need to write down.
Any insight would be appreciated.
@Sticky
On the Mastermind Achievement
There are a few paths to get this path, but the easiest way for me was to prevent the war between China an d the US (If your robot has high Grace, and Humanity, and you don’t own a company, you can have her intercept the bullet which kills the Premier).
Afterward, you will go through a series of screens which shows robots eventually taking over. Then you will come to a screen with a rather large number of choices, but the one you want will say something along the lines of “Introduce a backdoor into my robots so I can control them all.” Pick this option, and you should get the Mastermind Achievement. Do note you want to keep their Autonomy low, otherwise the robots will overcome your actions, and arrest you
Also, this screen is what gives you the Kingmaker Achievement as well if you give control to your robot.
Finally, there is an alternate way to get to this path. If you were in prison, or what have you, sometimes you get an option which says: 1. Develop an algorithm to stop war 2. Create a companion bot 3. Rebel against the US. Option 1 will be available if you have a Grace over 25, and choose. Do note some other options may cause other things to come up
Love love love this game. Best CoG so far. So many great little moments. “You amuse yourself by trying to backsolve the algorithm that produced the blocky patterns on their camo.” “The crushing irony of being the Santa who gives everybody coal ate away at his Humanity score.” Passing a test with flying colors – notably crimson. “I am reaffirming that I care about the state of that variable!” And of course mad props for being the first CoG to feature lutefisk.
Ok, I sent in the results of my “bug hunt” thus far to the Support email. I know there will be more, and I do want to be clear that I don’t see this as being a fault on the developers’ part…the number of viable behavioral combinations is just truly amazing.
Also, where does the option to have the robot call you “Father” come in?
So how to I get to the demonstrate into scene? I haven’t been able to get to it.
Does anyone know how to defeat China in the war?
@Nack: I don’t think it should come as much of a surprise that military stuff is a major aspect here.
Speaking of that, in addition to Juliet never mentioning Knife Throwing at that point neither of my robots ever mention Tammy being the one who attacked them. My character just magically knows. Even when I was married to her she somehow sneaked out and vandalize them while I stayed home with her.
Does anyone know an average military score to beat China?
