Choice of Rebels Part 1 WIP thread

@FortuneSFaded the all helots transforming in aristocrats remember me The farm ending when pigs transform in humans. also Goldstein book don’t matter if book was true or not because 1984 reality depends of party if you can’t remember what really happen and all data going against your frail indoc memory reality disappears.

The all Breden story of the horse to my mc say what it thinks is totally a suspense of believe. Im a aristocrat going say what think to the first dirty peasant i see. Worse i want kiss him?

Sorry stranger ugly peasant i never see you and probably you are a spy i would tell you why Im a disloyal noble give you my data. Also why don’t we kiss i mean i only know you for five minutes? He got mind powers?

@MaraJade in the book, it’s truthfulness doesn’t matter so much. However I’m relating the words of the book to real life, or in this instance, to CoR.

Also, regarding Breden, just like she says to you later on (if you choose to romance her) than you may be in love with the ideas that the two of you share, not in love with her exactly.

@FortuneSFaded no sense i tell my secret to the first dirty peasant i see on streets being noble?? its like going for capital streets singing Everybody hi Im a noble my name is and i hate empire for this and this do you want go bed with me? .

@MaraJade when you have a secret that big, many people would desperately want to tell anybody who may feel the same. The whole MC-Breden thing is no different that Winston with O’Brien in 1984. He knew that he could have been killed for letting him know, but he did it anyway. Granted, it did backfire for him, but he didn’t know that when he told him.

Also, the MC is still relatively young, and may not have the best judgement or control of their emotions. However I think it would be cool to have the option *not* to tell Breden that you hate the way things are - then the system could pull a kind of Choice of Vampire thing:
“Were you telling the truth?”
“No.”
“Then what do you really hate about the way things are?”
*Insert choices here*

@FortunesFaded Ah, yes, a sincerity-check. That, I would support.

@FortuneSFaded you know what’s first thing they make learn to austrias the Spanish monarch house before borbons Im a prince princess for gods grace if the throne come to my hands never renounce. I never cause a shame of my house.

your father is disciplined you have to know what happen and first think nobles learn is not trust slaves of servitude in a empire. They sell you.

If Breden was your noble friend you will know since kids and you has a crush. Ok but a dirty commoner ugly as hell dirty lean and sun pached skin Hell no!!!.

but the option of don’t say anything is better. I never will the traitor leave anyway if he was brat pit maybe but like he is better away coward

@MaraJade it is true that your father disciplined you not to do anything like that, but seeing as your relationship with your father in the game is absolutely terrible, wouldn’t you want to do the exact opposite of what he says - especially being a kid and all?

Nope Im not stupid and i have 16 lol i don’t want end beheaded that my father is a dick don’t mean Im telling my secrets to helots and kiss all ugly men in alley lol. Don’t have sense for a intelligent rebel . You couldnt last likerebel 6 months if you cant control your mouth with strangers lol Heys Here Im a rebel!!! slave you could sell me in exchange your freedom

You also can’t lead a rebellion by not trusting anybody - that’s an entirely different kind of stupidity. Being too trusting in a time and setting like this IS risky, but without someone - anyone - to conspire with you, your rebellion will die before it has even started

Stalin and Lenin Didn’t trust nobody but they have concurrent interest. Robespiere Mao Fide Castro … Totally paranoial but they had success you don’t need trust nobody. You need a idea gut and intelligent .
Lenin don’t start hey college Stalin pal i hate zar do you want go to bed lol they were trained and go jail for trust. You don’t trust first time see a person lol Hey i don’t know you why i don’t tell you my sins and kiss you in middle of nowhere

Er… All of those people, with the exception of Mao, had people that they trusted and worked with closely. Castro had his mentor, Eduardo Chibás. Lenin had Alexei Sklyarenko and others later on in Switzerland. Stalin had Lev Kamenev, who was essential in putting Stalin in government. And finally, Maximilien Robespierre had Lazare Carnot, who ironically later betrayed him and had Robespierre executed.

I do like the fact that you can become distrustful of Breden later in the game, but the fact that they come into the game and it’s all “BREDEN IS SO AMAZING LET ME TELL THEM EVERYTHING” is what I am not so fond of. Breden is still a good character, outside of the “WOW SO ATTRACTIVE AND COOL” thing. As I stated earlier, Black Magic vibes.

I do get that the character is supposed to be spurred on to the rebellion, but the fact that only Breden is present as a catalyst (the PC’s mother/runaway helot are less catalysts and more reagents) seems a bit linear. But I understand: with how meaty the first part is already, going back and putting in two or three or five different possible turning points for the PC is definitely not an appealing prospect.

Even if you tell Breden about your true feelings, it isn’t as if he/she would tell anyone who isn’t a helot. If you are a noble, any law official is never going to take his/her word over yours, so really the only danger is if someone overheard and you are in the middle of forest! One would only think of that (that someone is spying or that Breden is a spy) if they are truly, utterly paranoid to the bone. If you are playing such a character, ok, but not everyone would (and will) be like that. Personally my character is impulsive, a little naive and a daydreamer, so not only he wouldn’t think of that but (because he finds him/her utterly charming) he would even impulsively kiss him/her.

Also I can totally see him telling Breden his opinions on such a delicate (and I assume publicly avoided topic) because it’s always easier to tell a stranger something , because even if he/she hates you for your opinions, you don’t even know him/her so his/her hatred doesn’t hit you as hard as would a scorn of a person that you know well (and care about). And as I already said the risk isn’t that great.

@lovinglydull
I think the solution to that would be to add one or two options to how your character reacts at your first meeting, example you say nothing more after you find out about the ruse (with the river) and simply walk away, but it would require editing on other parts, for example a reason why are you searching for Breden in the crowd if you really don’t care ( or at least are curious) about him, and such.

Breden is ugly as hell like men lol. I could choose woman if there were a bisex option bad nope or boys or girls. Its black magic he poison my mind like Thomas i only ask for don’t tell the ugly bastard a thing . Not a new origin or background i kill the ogre two pages after lol why i go kiss a dirty troll?

I don’t have to tell a think helot you don’t show anything i could trust so go spy your mother. and you are luky i don’t kill you now" i never join the coward before i just stop harrowing and going a bunch of entrust people. I couldn’t trust in a troll i just met lol. @FortuneSFaded Mao Castro trust in all time friends or brother not lol i know you for 5 seconds now we go bed and i would give you my count number my car keys and all my money .

Its a universe with magic he is clearly a traitor lol or Black magic or no sense

I really have no idea from where you got the idea that Breden is ugly. The text says, and I quote: “lean and sun-parched from field work” and “ragged silhouette” and that is that. It doesn’t make him/her ugly, lean simply means skinny, thin. Sun-parched (I assume for I haven’t seen this expression before) that he/she has spent too much time under the sun without any kind of protection. Ragged says more about his/her clothes than his/her looks, I mean he/she is a helot, I don’t imagine he/she has much opportunities to buy nice clothes.

As for an option to insult, threaten or dismiss him/her, I already mentioned my thoughts on that matter in my first post. That is: it would be nice to have more options how your character reacts but it is writer’s choice in the end. Writer determines how much plot he/she is ready to sacrifice for more choices and reverse.

I also have no idea it which ways does Breden poison your mind? O.o Also ogre? What, where?

@Alekce I agree. Later on it also calls him “beautiful”, though it doesn’t say whether this is a physical discretion or of his personality

@FairyGodFeather If we keep up our hopes maybe it will come true! And plus you are a fairy! So work your magic! :stuck_out_tongue:

I really love this game ^x^

This game is amazing, I mean reeeeely reeeeeeeeeeely amazing. So amazing that it might be even better than (dare I say it) Nutella *le gasp*.
Buuuht there are a few things that make me raise an eyebrow every now and again.
Foooooooohr example:

Zvad the badass and bashful bandit has quite many years more battle experience than I and has more strength than I, so do tell, how is it that Zvad loses 5 men when raiding the caravan whereas I only lose 1 and yet I have less combat experience…

What in the hell???

Also if we chose our second in command I Expect them to step in when one of my stat checks fails miserably and save the day, for example when raiding the temple (and note that I had Breden as second in command) and I failed my charisma check, she didn’t do diddly flipping shit, which was rather annoying as that was the entire bloody reason I put her as second. The same applies to Zvad, you’d expect with his superior combat acumen that he’d at least whisper some advice into your ear to split up the enemy forces when attacking the garrisons, but no, instead he chooses to stay silent when his opinion would actually be quite welcome.

I’d also like it if there were just 1 more opportunity to raise a stat, for example when hiring Whatsername the sellsword to train the troops, seeing as I train alongside them should I not get a boost to combat? And just curious, is there any way to keep her in the band at all?

I would have also liked to conduct a proper investigation before we left town to see if Bredens alibi checks out.

Speaking of Breden being a traitor… After several playthroughs I have concluded that she/he is most definetely NOT a traitor but that she DOES know who IS and so she feels quite guilty. She is covering up for someone, namely: Radmar.

For me its all contrary I found attractive i hateslim as bones men dirty raged and sun burn is less sexy think ever. A hungry almost die by famine probably without a bath in all his life and no toothpaste its the most ugly monster ever. Im a alone girl in a forest with a dirty helot. Probably virgin and Im not scare at all.

Hi totally unknown men dirty i would tell you all my secrets because you ask me to do so.

Also i tell you my name and all my data i never read a fairy tale about what happen girls in forest.

I was reading it like WTF ? this is like Thomas in choice romances 3 . lol he goes hurt my girl in forest.

I was so grateful when i saw i could avoid the kiss.

A 16 noble woman alone in forest with a dangerous looking (personally for me the think most ugly ever) Asking me to admit secrets that could provoke my dead . Like Thomas same detail and like with Thomas no way to avoid admit them you trust them.

OK i don’t buy that like normal when i could end dead. But like i could the ugly traitor he almost confess . I don’t care then i only want there would be a noble romance to have babies for my family in event i die even if he is skinny sun burned like this one . I love white porcelain skin blonde silk hair fair big eyes and delicate facial features (so yeah Breden is all contrary) for give you feedback. I only want babies after all.
edit: I promise don’t post so many complaints seeing Im in totally minority here. But Im not a usual player and like help with feedback.
