Poseidon spares a glance at the child, then tears his gaze away, as if looking at him is too painful. He turns to leave, but pauses, his eyes a raging tsunami.
“This child will either be our salvation, or our destruction.” he declares.
His footsteps echo against the empty walls.
…suddenly means so much more for my character. I’m starting to really like the new focus I have for Poseidon
Honestly if Aeson wasn’t Hades’ son, then I’d probably be more okay with uncle dad. I played through a few times just to see what Hades would be like but I’m actually perfectly fine with not killing the seeker and still having his support(and love? ) as just my uncle.
Also, it helps that it would only make them cousins instead of straight up siblings… However godly DNA works, the latter just seems a liitle too close to Oedipus territory for me lol. Somehow “cousins” seems less worse? I don’t understand my own logic sometimes.
Besides, Poseidon just seems like the total dad package deal. Kind, nervous, genuinely loved mom and seems to really want to develop a bond with MC… Just the way he interacted with Celeste made him seem like a total teddy bear at heart and I need more of him!!
As you can see I’m obsessed with the fluff and angsty for the angst.
Did you know Poseidon raped Medusa inside a temple of Athena - in retaliation Athena transformed Medusa’s hair into a nest of snakes and made her face so terrible to behold that the mere sight of it would turn people into stone.
(she couldn’t punish Poseidon since he was part of the Trinity, but Medusa was innocent yet still punished).
So yeah… dark and unjust side of Poseidon and even Athena… not sure if this will ever be brought up within the story, especially if the MC can become well versed in Greek mythology then they would ought to know such things that could change the way they view Poseidon and Athena… though it literally is ancient history at this point.
Hmm… I find it kinda hard to believe that Athena never figured out who the father was. I’m assuming the gods scouted who the Bearer’s mother should be before Lavei was conceived. Did Athena not notice that Priscilla, the woman she’s pretending to be sisters with, constantly looked longingly at the sea? Or stared at the skies? Or…took naps in graveyards?
It keeps telling me Zeus AND Poseidon are my father, sometimes switching names in the same sentence Poseidon…your father, finally looks at you, his eyes as green as ever.
“When we voted on who would conceive you, we swore to keep the identity a secret until the appropriate time.”
“So you didn’t tell me who you were because you pinky swore?”
Poseidon, always in favor of light humor, smiles at your observation. “But of course.” Zeus…your father, blinks look at you, his eyes as blue as ever.
Remember, the whole Aunt Alice thing was a charade. She never actually met Priscilla…and I wouldn’t want her to, like, ever. Priscilla was known, but only by reputation by most of Olympus.
Poseidon’s getting to be fave dad at this point too (sorry Henry) based on what peeps in the thread have been saying. The scene where dad pleads with…Alice(?) – I think – makes suddenly more sense with him.
@Rohie, would it be too spoilery to ask which flags take primacy for dad? Because getting double dad bug after getting blank’d a few times:
@Rohie, I think I’m stuck at a choice where you are fighting in the Trojan war, this is after you decide the placement of the troops for the attack ( sorry that I could put the picture, was using my windows phone ). What I can tell you that I place the troops in the west in the woods and held my troops off till the last second.
So… while there’s no problem with changing the legend for the sake of the story, I’m slightly worried by the fact that Achilles’ parents marry and have a child, who grows to full manhood and goes off to war all in the space of a single year. And while it makes sense that Menelaus would treat the MC as inexperienced, I’m certain they wouldn’t be considered “not yet of age” (Diomedes, for example, first went off to war at about 14).
Also, my current playthrough is stuck in an infinite loop of constantly nearly being hit by a spear (and I think I was fighting both for and against the Spartans).
Seems I got stuck in some sort of infinite loop and can’t progress. The button does nothing but result in this same screen. Also, not sure why I’m killing Spartans when I told Paris I wouldn’t help them.
Yeah, any of age and many other factors are totally out of place. Like a Spartan woman being the military advice in old Sparta… No WAY. And a woman was not young at 17 lol, probably at 17 had already 4 babies and toddlers near start the Spartan education. So I just say MAGIC DEALT WITH IT if I ak the Master of universe I could change the historical fiction all over the place so I find it actually ok.
When it came to marriage in Sparta, things were different. There, the women were strong, trained and educated almost like men (so they would bear strong and vigourous children), and thus they were almost treated like men.
As a consequence, they were often married later than in Athens. Plutarque/Plutarch attest that in general, women were married around 18 in Sparta, against 15 for Athens.
Plutarch asked a woman from Attica, “Why is it that you Spartan women are the only women that lord it over your men,” she said, “Because we are the only women that are mothers of men.”
So it is not so far-fetched to take the kind of artistical stance where a woman from Sparta has a lot of power, especially political and over sons of Sparta. Since some spartan women actually did have a lot of power.
I’m somewhat torn. For one I really like that my MC’s father is Poseidon, because he seems to be much more genuine and understanding to MC’s feelings considering the whole situation. So, yeah for Poseidon dad!
On the other hand the decision to make killing the Seeker a requirement to get Zeus or Hades as father is …interesting?
Because it normally should shift the numbers huge in favor for Poseidon, when statistically speaking 50% or so of people choose to not kill the Seeker , which means they will get Poseidon as father either way, no matter the stats, wheras only about 25% each will get the other dads, actually less as 25% because it’s still possible that someone has strength as prime stat, so most people playing the game will get Poseidon.
That speaks for bad balance, even when I like the indication that both Zeus and Hades are more ruthless ( and thus a MC that inherits this trait is more willing to kill ) as Poseidon.
But still…lacks balance. Maybe it’s on purpose?
Also I’m not sure that I’m sold on Saint being Zeus’ child. I say he hestiated that much because he actually has no godly parent to claim him and didn’t knew what to expect. Zeus claimed him because no one else would have.
Also was the text when talking to Callypso about who attends the Institute changed? I was sure that the touchy topic until the last update was mortals at the Institute. So, either it was changed because the Saint is a mortal theory hits to close or because the Saint is a half-what-do-I-know-maybe-an-Angel theory had not enough foreshadowing. In conclusion: I’m slightly confused (but I stay by the Saint is a mortal, and Priscilla a powerful sorceress theories, I will go down with it!)

Well, damn… [Pats my Kurina on the head.] On the bright side, you’ve still got Uncle Henry and Aunt Alice! [Kinda disappointed since I made her eyes black.]
Nope, We are talking about something that happened 1,000 years before Plutarco… Here we are in Troy times as described in The Illyad . And It wasn’t so open to women. Also Plutarco were extremely exaggerated about it to ridicule Sparta customs same as Heterodoto with all they Spartan woman are angry and love luxurious comfort were it was fake as hell.
