God, that’s one of my least favorite tropes ever. When in a story a kid finds out they were adopted and want to find their “real” parents?
That emphasis on biology, the devaluing of of adopted parents, step-parents, etc. Not to mention how many kids who live with their biological parents that’re terrible parents and how it guilt-trips them.
Far as I’m concerned, Athena has been the parental figure in the MC’s life, that’s why the deceit hurt so much. Priscilla, bless her, has been absent for most of their child’s life (at least I think so. I should replay the game)
Where my MC is concerned Priscilla Angelis is her mother. But Athena is her Mom.
So she isn’t against meeting her mother, she would even like it. But the only parental figure she had was her Aunt Alice. And to a lesser degree, her Uncle Henry.
She taught her to talk, walk, write and read. And how to be a decent person. And that’s how it will always be. Even if she comes to disgree or fight with Athena.
@Sammysam You still like the drama. We all do. oh…how we do learn to love our chains!
When it comes to Priscilla and Athena, I, too, personally see Athena as the MC’s mother.
I just feel that we should give Priscilla the benefit of the doubt for wanting to get to know the child she was cheated out of raising when Athena took him/her.
Its no more different than the trope that every step-parent is an evil, malicious SOB who just wants you dead.
Its usually the parents who go looking, anyway.
As long as Priscilla treats the situation with the understanding that she has always been an errant thought not paid attention to in the past, I doubt anything will go wrong.
If she goes harpy-lady on us and tries to catch up for lost time, that’s when Mia’s gonna slap a bitch.
Being a Polish immigrant that came to America at a young age with my Grandparents, I can honestly say they sure did love their alcohol and vodka as well.
I’m hoping out that Hades and Persephone had a sit down talk about this. She’s bitter and not happy about it, but willing to work it out. And hopefully, doesn’t take it out on MC
(Persephone please, if anything she’s just as hurt and lost – albeit differently – as you)
I’m just hoping that Priscilla doesn’t try to insert herself as the “legal wife” after the debacle. Like I can get if she wants to “mother” MC – especially since Athena abducted them – but please, not as a status climb :)) poor MC has enough people trying to use them
Mostly. Or Zeus, for the drama.(Because let me tell you, if Zeus is your father, Hera is going to try to kill you. She tries to kill all of his demi-god children. Sometimes even the the fully fledged gods.)
Poseidon seems kinda of like cool dad, but I see less potential for heartbreak.
Pff, Poseidon is the kind of dad, that is so awkward that it already seems cold. MC with abandonement issues will really “love” it. Yeah, Uncle henry will stay dad, that’s it.
