I originally planned to gift the games via Steam before, but since restrictions complicated things, I just gave the receiver the Gift Card code and let them purchase the games they desired.
Before Steam got cracking on restrictions and whatnot, any Gift Card was freely accessible to anyone, regardless of country of origin. It is a little tricky, but you must remember that Steam Gift cards have an accessible account type. Some are for US account only, Hong Kong account only, Singapore account only, etc. But they still have the universal Steam Gift Codes available with a note in the smallest font size at the bottom of the card that says, “the amount will vary depending on the steam account’s country of origin.” The 10$ US dollar wallet points (The Gift Cards) can be more or less when you redeem them because Steam has its own conversion rates. I don’t know how it works, but that was my experience.
I had previously gifted an equivalent of 10$ US dollars to others and the result varied from one person getting an equivalent of 12$ US dollars for the original 10$ US dollars I had given (Which they were happy about) to a person getting 7$ US dollar equivalent to for the original 10$ US dollar I had given, which I had to add in more to that person because I did promise a 10$ US dollar wallet points.
Was it worth all that trouble? Personally, I was prepared to make the adjustments because I was sure a variety of people would be engaged in the whole gifting. My only fear was being unable to gift the requestor their wanted game. But so far, on my end, all of the people who I gifted got their desired games, I was able to communicate and coordinate properly with the original creator of this thread, and I had fun teaching receivers how to redeem the Gift Cards.
At the end of the day, I’m just glad more people are playing text-based games, and I hope this thread gets more support.

I feel like this should be an annual event. However I dont know if anyone would be willing to manage and organising thos every year

I think that it’s such a nice way to help folks who love interactive fiction but might not be able to grab a game right now.
