Best of Us [BETA TESTING]

I don’t think you’re supposed to post on a thread which is been inactive for more than 2 weeks, only authors of the thread can post on it.

No it’s more like if it’s been a month or two.

Actually, it’s 14 days, and looks like he’s one day late.
Well, seems like some mod’s gonna come in and close this soon…

Glad people still hold interest in this. Remember the forum rules about old threads, though.

Might as well post a quick update for those waiting. I have been tied down, as I previously stated, with a couple of other projects that take my time away.
Most notably the relaunch of the Star Wars side of the LucasArts Fan Network and their new gaming news site Star Wars Gamer. Whenever there’s bursts of news relating to Star Wars games, I tend to get busy for a couple of days.
Aside from that, I am also working on a novel idea I started back up after NaNoWriMo pulled my attention to more traditional literature. It is still in the fairly early phases, but I’m hoping that I will be in a position to pitch it in the coming six months.

As for Best of Us itself. I have been working on the next sequence of events, although it is not to ready to the point where I would want to update this online version with it, and the end sequence is still so far out that I don’t want to open any closed testing/reading phases either.
Nonetheless, my previous statement about a closed phase beginning in early 2016 is still probable. If I had to estimate on the progress being made, I would say that there will be one major open update before I move for more closed testing. Keep your eyes and ears open, I’ll post here in this thread when I have the next update for you fine folks.

I loved it felt like I was there I was disappointed when it was over I wanted more

I know how it feels, I’ve been waiting for Community College Hero for a year and it paid off, I didn’t even knew will it really be worth it, But THIS I know it will pay off I just know.

First of all i love lord of aswick.

The story is really good so far.

Can’t wait for updates and pls make very long and alot of choices like lord of aswick. Love ur work =)

And filipino’s native language is ‘tagalog’. First author ive seen to put Filipino’s on a game.

Saw options for martial arts, they are awesome. Can’t wait to kick assess in Bruce Lee style(weng chung which comes under southern style)!

Actually, if you wanted to go full Bruce Lee you’d want Jeet Kune Do, which is under American styles.

Your going to have to work 201% to beat community college hero, so I wish you the luck of 1000 anteaters!

I’ll go full Road House and just roundhouse kick every villain in the face. Show them who’s boss.

But Bruce Lee practiced weng chung (Wikipedia).

But Bruce Lee invented Jeet Kune Do

@PhoenixReborn Edit: Bruce practiced Wing Chun

Ohhh thanks for correcting me, but I will still go with weng chung. XD

Man love this game so much, and I can’t wait for the next update  for now I have just been playing the game over and over again with different powers.

Awesome. How’s that treating you?
Does it feel like there’s enough variation to make all powers seem useful?
Does some power need more focus on it? Is there something weird about any scene that you’ve found so far, where the powers could come up but don’t?

Give me some of that sweet sweet feedback.

Ah, this game is so good, I’ve played it a few times and I just have to say that’s it’s probably my favorite WIP ever. The pacing is very good, it’s not too slow or too fast, it’s just perfect and the customization options are really inclusive and impressive, even for that type of game. I really like the writing, it’s concrete and precise, yet it allows the reader to really feel like it’s their story. You did hell of a good job!

Question for everyone watching this thread:

I am going to write out dossiers on other heroes and notable figures in Pacifica. You can already see the placeholder texts in the stats page. What would you like to see there?
Do you want all the information on the heroes, from real names to powers to height and brief history, including meta-knowledge?
Would you like to see just the (updating) information your character would know from news reports and internet rumours?
Do you like more of a bullet point list, or a full few paragraphs containing the information?
Would you like to see a mix of both in more of a dossier style?

Do you want me to include important non-vigilantes on that list? How would you like them presented if you do: would you like to have them individually selectable like the vigilantes, or a collection of shorter paragraphs on each non-vigilante?

I would prefer dossier-style, and I’d rather see updating information my character knows or can learn (fun opportunities for a techy or intellectual or charming character, there) rather than full information. Adds to the suspense that way.

Individually selectable blurbs would be helpful for the non-vigilantes, too.

That said, I think you’ve done an excellent job so far of introducing new characters at a reasonable rate, and making them distinct enough to be memorable.

On another note: I’ve really enjoyed the story so far, and I look forward to getting to know the characters better as you add to it. My hero had teleportation, both infra and ultra vision, and enhanced senses. A zippy scientist, or that was how my imagination pictured it.

I’ve done some research into martial arts for a book I edited once, and I appreciated the options you presented and their summaries. I also enjoy the relief worker background. I worked in the field as a first response coordinator (and other positions) for several years, and the way the team was written felt very natural.
