All : The Replica Series

@filopay I’m glad you’re looking forward to my work! With the COG contest over I’m finally able to work on this project once again; although, I will be changing a few things. I’ve learned a lot more by working with @TwoSharp on a dedicated project like Tale of Two Cranes and hope to apply my new knowledge here.

Ooook. Didn’t know that

So I am just going to start making a tally list of things I would like to see and oddities I am having trouble reconciling.

  1. the use of “I” - This bothers me because I am making choices but the script keeps referring to the character I am playing as I. to me it feels strange but I think this may just be a me thing. (1st vs 3rd person perspective)
  2. personality choices - I would of liked to see “Level headed & calculated”
  3. Think I saw a typo “I am no going” spoken by the leader when referring to the meeting
  4. I selected the choice “a hug never killed anyone” and I received an error in line 1637: “Not a number: false”

This particular error causes the whole script to lock up, no button are usable.
Since I was unable to progress from this point onward I’m going to wait for an update to bug test further.

Note: I laughed when I saw sharp as one of the default name choices

Same. I am disappointed by my inability to hug the bonecrushing beast lady.

@Kazzum To answer your first 2 questions:

  1. I understand that the use of first person may not be the most well liked, but it’s my preferred writing style; I feel as though I can really get into my character’s mindset as well as immerse in the world I’m building. (I can probably thank the authors who have written my favorite novels, most of which use first person as well )

  2. I’ll actually be getting rid of the personality choices. :scream: Tale of Two Cranes used this method of allowing you to pick from a list of four predetermined personalities and I found that while it was fine in the beginning it was harder to remember in the end. I’ll be replacing it with traits and reaction choices instead. Not only will these traits pop up in dialogue, but they’ll be used to unlock certain actions/choices (this means less ifs/variables to keep track of too). For example, one opposing pair of traits I’ll be implementing will be Gentle vs. Harsh.

For your 3rd and 4th questions, and the bug found by @Le_Uyen, @anon49824592, and @Ernest_Choi:

  • I’m not going to fix that because, as both an author and a coder, I’ve grown from my experience by writing Tale of Two Cranes and so I believe I can do better with this series; as such I’m rewriting code, content, and stats. The core of the story and the emphasis on relationships with the PC and their recruit will remain intact. Still, thank you for reporting that and when I eventually update I hope you’ll continue to hunt down those pesky errors
