There are quite a few opportunities:
Quiz the groom at the start about other people passing through
Break your oath when first talking to Pyers and tell him about your mission
Gather clues from the Baron’s men during dinner at the Abbey without being caught
Successfully find the Baron during the tournament and read the parchment he found
Either win the Baron as an ally, or successfully escape his captivity without help
Succeed in talking to both Margaret of Norfolk and Thomas De Clifford, as you’ve already done
Gather clues from the talking fish
Avoid being defeated in Cockaigne by monsters, snakes or hunters
You shouldn’t need every one of those points to achieve it - some of them should be enough

How do I save my sister and become a knight?
Please help. I have no idea how get that ending and I really want it.
Hi there, welcome to the forums!
Here’s an explanation that might help for each, as long as you don’t mind some spoilers.
For saving your sister:
You need to say how important she is to you on some (it doesn’t have to be all!) of the following occasions:
-When Catherine asks you in Chapter 1 about why you fell out with squire Bigod
-When talking to either of the fortune tellers
-When choosing whose favor to wear in the tournament (provided you win at least 1 round)
-When talking to Catherine in Chapter 7, after speaking to the Duchess of Norfolk
You can also make progress by the following:
Win the riddle-game against the child in the tree in chapter 8, if you encounter it
Get the clue from the thief in the castle dungeon in Chapter 9
You’ll know you’ve done enough if Cecilia tells you she is being held against her will.
To then rescue her, you need to either defeat the Lord of Aconite in a confrontation (which requires high Pride, high Courage or high Superstition). It’s possible to obtain his permission to rescue her instead, but doing so will probably doom you to return to Cockaigne later and make it impossible to become a knight on the same playthrough.
For becoming a knight:
You need to complete the main quest by rescuing Prince Bertram and returning him to the king.
(There’s one exception to this but it involves becoming a kind of traitor-knight on your family’s side, and has very specific requirements)
You also need to avoid being called back to Cockaigne, which will happen if you either failed against the Lord of Aconite or failed too many other tests while travelling there
After that, you need Honor and Loyalty to be at least 30, and Money to be at least 60.
Money is easy - you can reach that level either by avoiding spending it in the early chapters or by winning the tournament prize. You get a slightly better ending if you have Money of 120 or more.
Honor and Loyalty can be gained on a lot of different occasions throughout the story, and you only need a few of each to meet the threshold, but here are some examples:
- Say you trust the priest in Chapter 1 or refuse to take his amulet (Honor)
- Say your mission matters more than your thoughts of Catherine in Chapter 2 (Loyalty) or that you do not wish to dishonor her (Honor)
- Refuse to break your oath when talking to the Piper in Chapter 2 (Honor)
- Call Geoffrey out on his insult in Chapter 3 (Honor)
- Agree with Catherine in Chapter 3 that Geoffrey lacks Honor (Honor) or is a traitor (Loyalty)
- Defeat the 3 guards at the end of Chapter 4 (Honor)
- Choose your duty to your king (Loyalty) or to your family (Honor) as your resolution at the end of Chapter 4
- Choose an especially difficult option in the tournament (Honor)
- Tell Catherine about the asssassin in Chapter 5 (Loyalty) or refuse to pick up the paper Geoffrey drops (Honor)
- Refuse to take sides in the squabbles between Abbey and Market in Chapter 5 (Loyalty)
- Foil the assassination (Loyalty)
- Choose your family name (Honor) or the king (Loyalty) as your resolution at the beginning of Chapter 8
- Successfully charm the bridge of stone faces (Loyalty)
- Go upstairs in the Castle in Chapter 9 without delay (Loyalty)
Hopefully that points you in the right direction!

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. I did another playthrough, though, and it didn’t go too well. My honor and loyalty were at thirty each, I had enough money, and resisted being called back to Cockaigne, but I still didn’t become a knight and lost Catherine. To be honest, I wish there was step by step guide. Or that someone could tell me how they got the same ending that I want.
That’s odd, losing Catherine shouldn’t prevent you from getting knighthood.
Did you fail to recover the Prince from your family, or in the final confrontation against Catherine herself?
You can automatically succeed in the first one if you rescued Cecilia and remind your father about it, and automatically defeat Catherine as long as your companion is still alive
No. I still rescued the Prince. The king said I didn’t have enough honor and loyalty, I believe. I really would like to keep Catherine, save my sister, and be knighted, but that seems near impossible.
That shouldn’t be happening at that point - one of Honor and Loyalty must have dipped below 30. Did you choose of of them as not mattering to you near the start of Chapter 10, when you think about what you’re willing to sacrifice?
It’s possible to do all three - make sure to do as many of the following as you can while also impressing Catherine with your competence and saying she matters to you - you need a Relationship with her over 65 or to be in a romance with her:
- Don’t take the amulet after defeating the priest
- Uncover a clue during dinner at the abbey
- Defeat the 3 guards on the second day of the fair
- Foil the assassin
- Avoid taking sides in the squabble after the tournament
- Help the needy when travelling across Cockaigne
- Take the Path of Needles and defeat the riddling child
- Get the clue from the thief in the castle dungeons
As a writer, I know what it is like to pour your heart and soul into your work, but that is equally true for the reader as well. And your beautiful story has captured both of mine. So much so, in fact, that I was devastated
when my first attempt failed. My second was no better. No matter how hard I try I never succeed. It hurts. I quite literally keep crying my eyes out because of inability to acheive my goal. I’ve become severely depressed over it. I’d give near anything for a choice by choice walkthrough where my character could save his sister, romance Catherine, and become a knight. I don’t know what to do. I’m so lost right now. Forgive me if I’m being overly emotional. I just love this story so much it breaks my in two not to see my dream ending realized.
That’s absolutely fine - I’m really glad the story has meant so much to you!
This isn’t a complete walkthrough because some choices won’t affect the ending you’re going for, but give this a try:
-Make sure to prioritise Hunting throughout so it’s high enough to win the tournament, and to be used later
-Also try to have high Courage
-Give money to the child at the Inn (Chivalry 23)
-Ask around the stables whether they have seen Baron Strange (Relationship 55)
-Say Bigod criticized your service to the Crown (Loyalty 19)
-Choose to investigate the priest, then run for the church door to fetch help (Relationship 59)
-Don’t purchase the falcon
-Say you admire Catherine and hope your feelings may be returned (Honor 9, Relationship 63)
-Go to the fortune-teller, choose Sibyl, pay her price, and say you value honor to your family (Honor 18)
-Do not eat the fruit
-Go to the dancer’s tent, pay the piper’s price, and refuse to endanger your oath (Honor 22)
-Go ahead to announce Catherine at the Abbey (Relationship 67)
-Avoid discovery at the dinner-table (Choose your highest skill for the first test, and whichever relationship value for the second) (Loyalty 27)
-Agree with the prioress if she confronts you
-Agree with Catherine that the Baron is possessed of ill intent (Honor 26)
-Visit Pyers again, and say he should already know your purpose
-Bypass the Baron’s guards by approaching unseen, then ask the Baron his business (Relationship 68)
-Defeat the 3 guards alongside Catherine by approaching them unseen (Honor 33)
-Ask Catherine for her favor, then win the tournament (Relationship 82)
-Look among the competitors for the Baron, then report to Catherine (Loyalty 34)
-Refuse to side with either side in the argument after the tournament (Loyalty 41)
-Either avoid being captured by the Baron in Chapter 6, or escape successfully - the details are not important as long as you don’t fail an escape attempt, which loses Money and Honor
-Avoid being escorted out of the Clifford tent in Chapter 7
-Take the Path of Needles
-Carry the old woman across
-Look into the woods for inspiration when you meet the riddling child
-Avoid being captured when entering the Castle
-Explore the castle dungeon, then intimidate the thief
-Lead the monster near the top of the castle to one side, then run past it
-Defeat the lord using your courage
-Say your connection with your companion matters least to you, when examining your resolve in Chapter 10
That should get you to all 3 endings with the required stats, and a bit of wiggle room if anything goes wrong?
Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to try that. I’m gonna wait a bit till I try again, though. I’m still quite shaken by my failures. I guess I want the ending so badly because I want to write a little fanfiction where my character becomes a knight and lives happily ever after with Catherine and his family. But just because I don’t get that particular ending in game, that doesn’t mean I can’t do so, right?
Absolutely!
If you’re imagining your own ending, it doesn’t have to match the one I’ve written.

Thanks. It means a lot to me to hear that coming from an author.

I believe that I have run into a bit of a snag. I have followed everything in your walkthrough to the letter, but when I go ahead to announce Lady Catherine it only boosts my relationship with her up to 66 and agreeing with her that the Baron is possessed of ill intent only raises my honor to 25. Also, and please forgive me if this is too strange, I have begun the process of “mapping out” the chapters. What I mean by this is that I look at my stats, select a choice, see what it does, and type it out, putting an “x” by the one I think the best or that you have recommended. Here is an example.
Chapter One
(Choice #1)
A [Hunting] {x}
B [Combat]
C [Archery]
D [Music]
However, I have to start at the beginning of the game and go through all the choices I make in the previous chapters. I don’t mind doing so too much, as I see at as very worthwile to know how the choices will impact my stats, but do you plan on updating the game with any save points later on? if not, that’s perfectly okay and I understand completely. It’s your story, after all! Thank you so much for all the help you’ve given!
Anyone know how to complete the mission for the King? Or at least get the best ending?
